the oakland unified school district has issued a warning to oakland high school teachers planning a work stoppage monday to not call-in sick, according to district officials. the teachers plan to march to city hall to call attention to a bargaining impasse between the school district and the teacher's union, organizers said. district officials said educators who participate in the "sick out" might be subject to disciplinary action and a loss of pay. the teachers can't use sick leave or personal leave - it will go unpaid and a doctor's note may be required from teachers who use sick leave, according to district officials. teachers who are frustrated

( james ) happening now ... 4-thousand mental health workers for kaiser permanente are starting a five-day strike. ( darya ) kron 4's sanaz tahernia is live in san francisco with the details. sanaz? i'm here outside of the kaiser permanente facility on geary where starting in just about an hour mental health employees will begin a 5-day long strike, in an attempt to call attention to what they say are unequal benefits and a critical staff shortage.vothis facility is just one of 21 facilities in northern

california where protesters will be striking, with a total of nearly 4,000 across the state.mental health is and continues to become a bigger problem in this country. according to the center for disease control since 1999 the national suicide rate has gone up by 33 percent, and although california's suicide rates are relatively lower, another study shows that nearly 1 out 6 adults in the state has a mental health need with 1 out of 20 suffering from a serious mental illness, and that number simply increases among children.and despite these numbers, there are multiple reports that say there's a widespread shortage of mental health to treat people who are suffering.the mindset of every worker that i have met in years. we are here about including the patient care.so i would guess that it is about patient care not wages.our challenge with the strike the actual issues that and you hw is bringing to the table is not about improving access or care. the primary issue that

they're bringing ford has to do with increasing salaries and wages. and the fact is our mental health workers are already among the highest paid in their profession. according to the union here, there's 1 clinician for every 3,000 kaiser members, and there are no plans for either side to go back to the bargaining table at least until the end of the strike this friday. ( darya ) breaking overnight... five children ranging in age from one to 9 years old were killed in a house fire overnight in youngstown, ohio. authorities say two children died immediately in the fire and the other three were taken to a hospital where they died

from their injuries. two firefighters were also injured while battling the fire. investigators say they do no suspect foul play and the cause of the investigation. ( darya ) one man is in jail this morning accused of committing several burglaries in the same day. police say an employee confronted 25- year-old evan thomas at friedman's home improvement in petaluma. thomas was reportedly in the nursery collecting merchandise.. then took off with multiple power tools. two miles away... thomas is suspected of going through a car that was left unlocked. a few hours later police were called to kohl's on north mcdowell boulevard.. and from surveillance video recognized thomas. police say in thomas' possession were stolen items from the previous crimes. ( james ) a surfer caught in rough waves at san francisco's ocean beach has died. he was pulled from the water friday and died at the hospital. the national weather service issued a beach hazard... warning people about swells of up to 10-feet thursday and friday. emergency crews say they had

to rescue at least three surfers over 24-hours. ( james ) in the east bay... a driver is injured after a car slams into an apartment building in walnut creek. it happened yesterday afternoon on the 800 block of tampico-- just south of ygnacio valley road. police say it's not clear what caused the driver to crash into the building. they were taken to the hospital for unknown injuries. nobody else was injured. ( james ) an east bay city is clearing the way for its first cannabis dispensary.. but the proposal is getting pushback from a nearby business that serves children. the city of alameda is going to allow four cannabis dispensaries to open in the city. one dispensary wants to open their doors near the intersection of haight avenue and webster street. but a martial arts studio nearby opposes the location because it could negatively affect the kids that attend the studio. the studio is classified as a youth center which means no cannabis dispensay can be opened within 6-hundred feet ot it... meaning the location

for the first dispensary could not be next to the martial arts studio. however the city has proposed an ordinance to change the definition of youth center paving the way for dispensaries... city council will vote or the ordinance on december 18th. ( darya ) happening today... there will be a ceremony to mark the anniversay of former san francisco mayor ed lee's death. the event will be at portsmouth square in chinatown today from 12:30 to 1:30 this afternoon. lee died suddenly last year of a heart attack, at the age of 65. 101 ( james ) (ááálandingááá) a san jose family says they've been targeted multiple times by a pair of thieves. this is new surveillance video showing the thieves in the family's garage stealing several items. kron4's dan thorn has the story. surveillance video captures a man walking up to a black honda civic...getting inside...and driving away..the

problem is--that's not his driveway and it's not his car...sot: in my car they took everything i have my laptop my texbooks my car is just my second house you know.. phung pham says this theft happened on the night of november 25th.. the night before--she says her son's car was broken into and thieves stole several items including two pairs of car keys and registration information. this thief used one pair of the stolen keys to take off with her car. the home's address was likely found on the stolen registration..sot: we need a car to go to work we work hard to buy stuff why don't they just go to work and buy stuff instead of stealing from people..this was only the beginning of the nightmare for pham and her family...sot: they came back after three hours to open the garage and stole stuffhours after her car was stolen--the theif returned- -this time with a woman. the duo used the garage remote left pham's stolen honda civic to pop open the doors..the

male crook tries using the second set of keys to start a car parked inside as the woman rummages through..the man fails to start the car and joins in on the stealing spree----making off with sunglasses, shoes, flashlights, security cameras and a spare key to another family car. sot: glasses make up, clothes, working clothes, workout clothes..two nights later the man is seen returning to the home. pham believes he was trying to find the other family car while using the stolen spare key. this time he walks away empty handed..pham says these thefts have her feeling increasingly unsafe in her neighborhood.. sot: i feel so unsafe for my children we feel so nervous now like when they gonna come back again yeah because they don't care.

( darya ) dozens of people including local leaders gathered in san francisco sunday for a vigil....remembe ring the victims who lost their lives from gun violence. "moms demand action for gun sense in america" put on the event. it happened at saint ignatius church . the event was just one of about 100 happening across the country this month ... marking the anniversary of the sandy hook elementary school massacre. mayor london breed and congresswoman jackie speier were just a few of the speakers at the vigil. ( darya ) the organization says 600-thousand lives have been lost since the sandy hook massacre. ( james ) a big story this morning... new details are emerging in the deadly mass shooting in thousand oaks. officials now say the deputy killed was shot by "friendly fire." last

month a gunman opened fire at the borderline bar and grill in venura county killing 11 people. the gunman shot at sergeant ron helus five times... but we are learning he died from a bullet that was fired from a c-h-p officer who was also involved in the gun battle. gunman ian long took his own life... investigators still don't know the motive. ( darya ) warriors guard shaun livingston took a few families on a holiday shopping spree at the levi's store in san francisco. look at the reaction one of the kids had to meeting livingston. kids picked out everything from new pants to new jackets and shirts.

gonsalez's family is wondering w they will get through his daughter's ninth birthday party ... and christmas ... without him.karla gonsalez, victim's mother"he knew how to brighten our room with a smile."last month -- police were called to oneill avenue ... where they say a man reported gonsalez was acting erratically with a knife outside his ex-girlfriend's home.three officers arrived and say gonsalez ignored their commands to drop his weapon. they fired their guns 13 times -- and then realized gonsalez was not holding a knife, but a razor blade.michelle kingston, mkingstonnews"29 year old agustin gonsalez was pronounced dead at a hospital hours after the incident."ben nisenbaum, attorney"it's hard to conceive any situation that three well trained police officers who have all gone through the police academy couldn't handle a man with a razor blade."gonsalez's family has hired ben nisenbaum as their attorney ... and plan to file a civil lawsuit against

( darya ) police in san rafael have arrested a man they say is connected to at least 30 vandalism cases. 47-year-old migel parra of san rafael has been arrested... believed to be the man in this video riding on a bike passing floortex and throwing a rock through the window. after his arrest.. para admitted that he was involved with at least 12 of the incidents.

marin beverage outlet was vandalized this past week... the owner says the window repair exceeded 13-hundred dollars. para is facing 12 felony counts of vandalsim... and he will appear in court this morning. ( darya ) a big story this morning... the catholic church is releasing a new list of priests accused of abuse against children. the list includes the names of more than 100 clergy... living and dead and includes accusations dating back to the 1950's. jesuits west province represents clergy in 12 western states.. they say all of the people on the list have been removed from the ministry. many of the priests now live at the sacred heart jesuit center in los gatos.... described as a retirement home. jesuit west says they released the names in an effort to come clean with the public and rebuild trust. ( james ) in the east bay.. alameda county leaders are transforming two warming centers into winter shelters for people living on the streets. its part of a 10 point 5 million dollar plan-- approved by the board

of supervisors-- addressing the needs of the homeless.. the money will go to areas that have seen a rise in the number of people living in the area without a home.. a mobile hygiene bus with showers, restrooms, and other services will also be provided by the unincorporated county homlessness action plan. last month, leaders approved $340 million dollars in spending to address homelessness through 20-21. ( james ) three people lost their home following a fire over the weekend in san francisco's inner sunset. it happened just before 2:00 sunday afternoon at a restaurant on the 300 block of irving street. the building has a business on the first floor-- and apartments on the second. both the restaurant and the apartment suffered damage. nobody was hurt and the cause is under investigation. ( darya ) buying a christmas tree this year will cost you more money...a supply shortage is leading to higher prices. the owners of jg trees say sales have been the same as last year - they just got fewer trees. the pacific northwest christmas

nevada is seeing more snow now compared to this time last year. back to back storms dropped several feet of snow in some mountain areas. the snow is more than twice the snow pack level compared to this time last year....and winter is still nearly two weeks away. mammoth mountain in the southern sierra has recorded nearly 6 feet since october 1st. ( darya ) a firefighter from paradise has a safe place to sleep tonight all thanks to the kindness of strangers.( james ) a couple donated their refurbished bus to a firefighter whose house was destroyed in the camp fire. reporter jessica mensch was there for the big reveal. firefighter from paradise had a safe place to sleep sunday night that was all her own thanks to the kindness of strangers.an elderly couple donated their refurbished bus for firefighter, lete sanchez, and her fiancee, nicole jaquez, to live in after sanchez's house was destroyed in the camp fire."are you

kidding? i'm in shock," the engaged couple exclaimed when first seeing the bus.walking through their new home for the first time, sanchez and jaquez still couldn't believe they would have a bed to sleep in. "it feels like freedom, honestly. like we can breathe," jaquez said.the wildfire destroyed their paradise home roughly a month ago. they've been couch surfing and sleeping in their car ever since."i think because i've been a firefighter for so long, i didn't think it would happen to me," sanchez said.sanchez has been fighting wildfires for more than 10 years. it's one of the reasons why some kind strangers wanted to donate the refurbished bus for them to live in.the decked-out bus was delivered by woody faircloth out of denver, colorado. he's been matching donors with survivors who need mobile homes for shelter."it's so nice to be a stranger being able to help them. i think everybody wants to help, they just don't know how to," faircloth said.the idea started back at thanksgiving when faircloth decided to buy an rv and take his 6-year-old daughter, luna, on a road trip
