the democrats too. the president's statement that he alone is responsible for any government shut down takes them off the hook. the deadline for reaching a deal is december 21st, (vicki) happening now in the east bay... police in fremont are looking for a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian early this morning. and investigators are trying to figure out if the heavy fog could have played a factor. kron 4's will tran reports. a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in fremont early this morning, according to police. officers responded at 3:51 a.m. to a report of a body in the roadway on paseo padre parkway between isherwood way and decoto road. they arrived to find an adult who had died and there was evidence of a collision with a vehicle. the driver of the vehicle was not at the scene and has not been identified, police said. no other information about the case was immediately released by police. lawrence karnow: dense fog gave way to hazy sunshine and and cool sunshine and to hazy

gave way to hazy sunshine and and cool temperatures. highs today were in the 50s and low 60s. we are seeing a few showers on doppler radar in far northern california. on the satellite you can see another storm headed our way. it is very weak and will only bring a slight chance of showers overnight. there will also be patchy dense fog inland. highs tomorrow will be in the 50s to mid 60s. it should be dry on thursday but more rain is possible late in the day on friday with showers lingering into saturday. another storm will bring rain to the bay area late on sunday. (grant) happening now... nearly 30-thousand pounds of jimmy dean sausages are being recalled. and it's due to a possible metal contamination. the product affected is the "jimmy dean heat 'n serve original sausage links" made with pork and turkey. officials say they were produced and packaged on august 4th-- so they could be in your fridge or freezer right now. the item has a use by date of january 31st. so far..the company has received 5 complaints of metal pieces found in the sausage links. if you have the product, you can either throw it away or return it to the store from

the salvation army in newark is gearing up for a big give away during the holidays. they're asking for food toys and warm jackets but also need volunteers who can help pass them out. their angel tree program allows businesses to sponsor a child, for the tri-city location they can pick up a tag at raley's supermarket and kaiser permanente in fremont. the sign up list for kids to get toys ended in october but families in need are still eligble for those free holiday meals. volunteers will help pack them up in boxes...the salvation army is specifically asking for turkeys.sot: lily maccallum, salvation army// "the holiday are coming around very soon and if you were thinking as a private citizen that you would like to help out and help a family in need like i said we are accepting donations of turkeys and also donations of frozen desserts and finally a lot of folks just like to donate their time which is absolutely priceless and we are accepting volunteers to help us ring a bell."look up a location near you because some salvation armys across the east bay are distributing holodays meals those in need can cook at home. while others will host a santa workshop where kids pick up toys. there are other east bay organizations you can either volunteer at or benefit from including: - all salvation army's - the alameda and contra costa coty food bank - you can drop off toys at all alameda county fire departments until december

video as 51-year-old ben lecomte swam to shore on oahu yesterday. he first stepped in the waters in japan a little more than six months ago. lecomte was originally supposed to swim from japan to san francisco..but bad weather forced him to stop in hawaii. he says what he saw on the journey was eye-opening. ben lecomte, swam from japan to hawaii: the expedition .. bringing as much awareness on ocean pollution to try to inspire people to change their habit, cause it's like.. the reason we know it is the way we live on earth.. we don't recycle, way we use single use plastic.. so we have to change that (grant) that (grant) a boat tagged along-side lecomte to collect data about plastic pollution.
