( darya ) breaking overnight... oakland police are investigating two deadly shootings. the first shooting happened just before 9:30 last night in the 6-hundred block of 23rd street. one man was shot and killed. police remained on scene until midnight investigating. the second shooting happened just after 9:30 near the intersection of 11th and center streets. one man was also shot and killed. police do not have anyone in custody. ( james ) new this morning.... attorneys for ghost ship warehouse master tenant derick almena and max harris have filed a request that the building's owners and oakland police officers and firefighters be arrested. almena and harris are charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter for the fire during the concert in 20-16. the request says 5 firefighters and three police officer visited the warehouse before the fire but never did anything to address the problems. almena and harris say the officials and the building owners should be held accountable and prosecuted. almena and
harris's trial begins in april. ( james ) the all clear has been given to facebook's campus in menlo park after a bomb threat was called in. n-y-p-d crime stoppers called menlo park police just before 5 last night saying they've received a bomb threat at building 23 on the facebook campus. the entire campus was evacuated as a precaution. police did not find a device or any suspicious packages. ( james )breaking news... there's a massive search going on in france for the gunman who opened fire killing 2 people and injuring 13 others... police had originally said 3 people were killed. the gunman has been identified by police and was already known to security services as a possible threat. french officials had attmepted to bring the gunman in for questioning yesterday morning before the shooting on an unrelated case but he was not located. the shooting took ace in strasbourg at one of eurpoes oldest markets. and witnesses say he
shouted "god is great" in arabic. the gunman did exchange fire with police.. and he was injured. ( james )happening now... san francisco police are investigating a hit-and-run accident. we have just learned that the victim of that accident has died.( darya ) kron 4's sara stinson is live on the scene with the latest. sara? you can see there is heavy police presence here on bush and leavenworth...police say they are investigating a hit and run. a security guard for the st. francis memorial told me it was a woman who was hit by a car here and then the driver took off.take a look at the video you can see all that is left in this crime scene is a bumper of sorts. officers are going to nearby buildings trying to get security cam footage pointing at the intersection. no word yet on the condition of the person

( darya ) new this new this morning... police were called to the sheraton in petaluma after reports of someone looking under other guest room doors. but javier martinez told police his actions were innocent and was inspired by reality t-v shows. officers also searched his room and found electronic recording devices, data storage devices and fiber optic cameras. one camera was found recording under the door of another guest's room, authorities say he is a frequent guest of the hotel chain --- and they are working
to find out if there are other potential victims. ( james ) breaking news... president trump's former attorney michael cohen has been sentenced to three years in prison for crimes including hush-money payments that prosecutors say president trump ordered. earlier this year cohen pleaded guilty to making illegal hush money payments to women who claim they had affairs with the president prior to him taking office-- president trump has recently tried to distance himself from cohen... even saying cohen is lying in order to shorten his possible prison sentence. morning...a new study says more fat in your midsection... could increase your risks for breast cancer. researchers saw that post- menopausal women who carried more weight, were at double the risk of developing estrogen-dependent breast cancer. these cancers occur when the receptor proteins attach to the estrogen hormone and rely on it to grow. nearly 35- hundred post-menopausal women between 50 and 79 years old, had their body composition measured at the beginning of the study. of those women, 146 developed breast cancer who had more fat in their midsection. ( darya ) in the south bay ... relief is now on the way to some county- run health care facilities in santa clara that have long struggled with a lack of beds and services. the county is buying three private hospitals ... o'connor hospital ... saint louise in gilroy ... and de paul health center in morgan hill. acquiring the three facilities will add more than 4-hundred beds, doubling capacity county wide. and it means south county residents, fearful of losing their local hospitals, will instead see expanded services. ( james ) thousands of kaiser mental health professionals are participating in day three of a state wide strike. here in the bay area ... the demonstrations will take place at the protests will take place at kaiser offices and medical centers in east bay and santa clara. workers are protesting what they say is a lack of staffing that affects care. a union president says patients have
to wait a month of more for follow-up appointments because of low staffing levels. and that kaiser needs to hire hundreds more clinicians. the workers are striking through friday. to one man's effort to bring awareness to pollution.. brought him all the way to hawaii, from japan.... and he is expected to eventually be in san francisco. this is video as 51-year-old ben lecomte swam to shore on oahu monday. he first stepped in the waters in japan a little more than six months ago. lecomte was originally supposed to swim from japan to san francisco..but bad weather forced him to stop in hawaii. he says what he saw on the journey was eye-opening. opening.
