( darya ) another big story this morning... the oakland raiders need a new place to play next year... the team is weighing their options... as an alameda county supervisor says regarless of what happens the county wants out of the sports business. kron 4's will tran is live at the raiders headquarters in alameda with the latest.. will? ( will )raiders have said they are not going to play at the coliseum after the city sued the raiders and the nfl for the raiders move to vegas now alameda county officials are saying they are done with the raiders .county supervisor nate miley says the county has other priorities including the homeless problem.santa clara county officials are reviewing their laws to see if the raiders could play next year at levi's stadium .. sharing the faculty with the niners for one season uc berkeley's stadium is too small and the university has ordinances preventing nfl games from
police in berkley are investigating an early morning attempt to break into an apple store... with a u-haul truck. the u-haul truck smashed into the front doors of the apple store on fourth street around 3:30 yesterday morning. the collision triggered a burglary alarm and police arrived a short time later... but the driver of the u-haul
truck was already gone. police say the truck didn't even all the way inside the store... there is a gate behind the glass. police say they are now trying to track down whoever rented the u-haul and see if anyone has the crash on camera. ( darya ) the store was able to re-open yesterday afternoon with temporary wood doors. more issues this morning at an east bay school where heaters were not working in classrooms. the heat is back on... but as kron 4's terisa estacio reports...its causing a new problem. the heat is back on at treeview elementary school - about 80 percent of classrooms now have heat... but now, the principle sent out a note to families about how the system is overheating floor tiles causing asbestos tiles to be exposed. grand parent. well yes, that is troubling, i had
no idea. parent. it has always been one thing or another at the school. dion ramos, school spokesperson. the tiles are not harmful. the districts spokesperson met with me on thursday to explain what happened and how they are addresssing the issue. ramos, we had maintence people come in and they are sealing up the floors. the children who's classroom was effected were put into temporary protables while crews worked. ramos. it is safe now and they will be back in on friday classes. as far as getting all of the classrooms with heat.. that too is on the list. ramos. yes. it is an older school, and we are trying to get that tackled as well. on monday, a parent reached out to kron four news alerting us that some classrooms had been without heat for several weeks. in hayward, terisa estacio kron four news.

unwrap on christmas day, while teaching their own children the idea of giving back.the effort, call "dig deep sf," is unlike a typical toy drive. first, the "elves" fundraise tens-of-thousands of dollars from their networks of friends and colleagues. second, they take the money and purchase toys appropriate for older youth often overlooked in most toy drive efforts - children 8 to 12 years old - where a teddy bear or tonka truck just won't suffice. the dig deep elves hand-pick the toys that kids really want: ipods, make-up, cameras, sports jerseys and equipment - understanding that underprivileged kids have the same wishes for toys as more fortunate children do. to do this, they bring along their own children to guide the shopping choices: applying their own toy desires to help a child in need. the santa shopping spree takes place at target in colma / 5001 junipero serra blvd., where elves help purchase hundreds of toys using funds they've raised in the last two weeks. the toys are distributed at the salvation army's "toy & joy shop" on dec. 19. (ááádoubleboxááá) our washington correpondent alexandra limon joins us live to tell us the latest about the deal pelosi reached this week. ( alex ) leader nancy pelosi reached this deals with members of her own party who previously said it was time for new leadereshi so as part of the deal leader pelos agreed to term limits for democratic leadership. the deal limits the top three democratic leadership positions, to three terms each. not just the speaker. they could be eligible for a fourth term if they have the support of two thirds of the party. the term limits are retroactive and would include the two terms speaker pelosi served from 2007 to 2011. so she's agreeing to stepping down in four years unless she can secure two thirds of her caucus for a fourth term. pelsoi said she does not think she will be a lame duck leader, in that four year term.
also this week leader pelosi and senate majority leader chuck schumer faced off with president trump at the white house over the funding for the president's border wall. president trump isn't backing off saying he wants 5 billion dollars for his border. democrats say the president got one and a half billion dollars from last year's budget for the border wall and hasn't used it.at this point neither side is budget and it appears parts of the government may shut down over the holiday break... meaning some federal employees will not be getting paid and some government services wont be running.services wont government paid and some not be getting paid and some government services wont be running. thanks alexandra thanks alexandra
( darya ) mental health is a main focus for schools across butte county after the camp fire. right now the county's office of education is dealing with the victims' trauma. school officials say it now has a large collection of counselors and physicians ready to meet with students, teachers, and staff. teachers say overall students are happy to be back in class, but some are struggling with the trauma. ( darya ) school officials say staying connected is what will help the whole community get through this trying time. ( darya )(ááávidboxááá) u-s health officials have traced the e-coli outbreak in romaine lettuce to at least three california counties on
the central coast. officials say a reservoir at adams brothers farms in santa barbara county tested positive for the bacteria. owners are cooperating with the investigation. regulators say other farms are likely involved too in san benito and monterey counties. consumers should keep checking the label before buying romaine the f-d-a says 59 people have been sickened by the outbreak. (ááboxesáá)( darya ) happening today --- motor- powered "go-bikes" are coming to san jose. there will be over 120 new "pedal-assist" bikes --- which can reach a top speed of 18 miles per hourd and they will be added to the existing fleet of ford go-bikes across the city. membership for access to the bikes in san francisco, oakland, san jose and emeryville will cost you 15 dollars a month, or two dollars for a single ride. ( darya ) the skyline in the east bay might be dramatically changing if the city of emeryville approves a proposed skyscrapper. these are artist renderings of what the 54-story buidling would look like. according to the proposal it would be located off powell street right off the 80 east highway exit. the skyscrapper would offer 638-residental unitts and 16 stories of the building would be dedicated office space. the project also includes a new half-acre public park. but if you commute through the east bay near berkeley and emeryville... you know this is one of the worst traffic areas. we talked to locals about what they thought of the project.
the housing but the traffics gonna get worse. and the traffic is already tight at certain times of the day so it really doesn't make that much of a differnce, kinda like it will almost fit right in.you know right off the highway.. im quite sure thats bring more traffic more conjestion to the area.. you know the people thats gonna be here is gonna suffer from it ya know going to work each day.>( darya ) a senior a senior planner with the city of emeryville says if the project is approved... it would not start for another 2.5 years. there will also be several meetings for the public to come weigh in their opinon on the project before the approval process begins. ( darya ) concord police are looking for man they say jumped the counter and grabbed cash at a subway shop. the incident happened wednesday... police say this man and an employee got into an arguement about not having enough money to pay for his meal. that's when the man reportedly psuhed the employee out of the way... grabbed the cash drawer and ran off. the drawer was found nearby... but the money was gone.
( darya ) happening today... the weeklong strike by thousands of kaiser mental health professionals is expected to end. demonstrators have been taking part in protests at medical centers and offices in the bay area and across california. workers are protesting what they say is a lack of staffing that affects care. a union president says patients have to wait a month of more for follow-up appointments because of low staffing levels... and that kaiser needs to hire hundreds more clinicians. ( darya ) happening today.... former first lady michelle obama will meet with young adults and promote her autobiography during a visit to san jose. mrs. obama's book "becoming"... follows her childhood... her education and careers in law and non-profits. she will speak at a workshop hosted by the silicon valley chapter of public allies... and recount the organization's impact on her life. public allies... a 25-year-old non- allies... a 25-year-old non- profit... focuses on guiding young people into education and leadership roles. the event is not open to the public. her book tour will

toll to 101 ( darya ) the organizers of the mavericks surf contest are close to deciding whether or not the big wave compeition off the coast of half moon bay will be held next week. the original plan was to hold the competiton on monday but a large swell is due monday that could pose a risk to not only surfer... but for spectators as well. officials are looking at the possibilty of holding the contest on tuesday or thursday. the swells are predicited to be 60 feet... and the water of the coast of pillar point can be a treacherous area. and here's a live look outside... bay bridge
