morning on the kron 4 morning news... we are tracking a major storm heading to the bay area. this is a live look outside at the embarcadero. it will be a dry day today but heavy rains are on the way. good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm james fletcher.( darya ) and i'm darya folsom. this morning we are getting you ready for the big storm heading our way. we have team coverage... will tran is live in the east bay looking at how cities are getting ready for possible flooding.( james ) but first lets go to john shrable in the weather center. conditions start dry today before a round of potentially severe weather moves in this evening. rainfall will begin to increase into the late afternoon with strong winds and heavy rain especially into tomorrow morning resulting in the increased risk of flooding and downed trees. highs today will peak in the 50's before falling mostly into the 40's and upper 30's tonight as rainfall increases.

saying chris made his home in placer county. he said during the week chris worked as an elevator tech in the south bay... and on fridays would fly home from hayward to lincoln. he also says his son only had his student license for flying.. and had just bought a small plane for his commute.

upset over the use of tasers within the county. inside the meeting... a sheriff in support of tasers... quoted a 2011 san mateo county grand jury finding.

girl's voice could be heard yelling for help in the background. the man demanded all of the woman's money from her bank account. but the girl was safe at her school in marin county. police say this is just one of many scams that are meant to get people to hand over large amounts of money. ( darya ) on the peninsula... detectives are looking for more victims after officers say san mateo county deputies arrested an accused sexual predator. sheriff's investigators say 71-year-old daniel miranda admitted to multiple counts of sex acts with minors. detectives say he may have victimized several young girls under the age of 14... for the past 19 years. they say within the last few weeks, more victims have come forward. he pleaded no contest and will spend the next 10 years in jail. once he is released, miranda will register as a sex offender. ( james ) we now know the names of the victims killed in a wrong way crash over the weekend. 23-year-old tulio de giovanni lima viana .. of daly city, and 23-year-old

megan alyssa cota of san francisco, died in the crash. it happened on saturday morning on highway- one. police say, they were passengers in a toyota prius.. that was headed south in the northbound lanes. the driver then crashed head-on with a chevy silverado. police believe... the driver is the brother of one of the victims.. he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. two people in the pickup truck were injured, but not seriously. the c-h-p is investigating how the prius got onto the freeway ... headed the wrong way. ( james ) authorities have identified the body found near pier 43 in san francisco. police say 36-year-old rehab karim is from san joaquin...she was found saturday morning in the water. investigators are still trying to determine if foul play is involved. ( darya ) now to the south bay. an elderly woman got into crash and then was killed when she got out of car on a freeway in san jose. on sunday... the 83 year old

woman was riding with her husband when they hit a concrete wall near the transition ramp from southbound highway 101 to northbound 680. police say the two were ok... but when the woman decided to walk to the tranistion ramp to meet up with family she was hit by a car. the driver says they saw an object in a lane, and then swerved and hit the woman. police then say a ásecond vehicle also hit the woman. officer ross lee/chp( darya ) the chp says drugs and alcohol were not factors in this case. no citations have been issued and the victim's name had not been released ( darya ) new this morning...f-b-i agents in california arrested a man they say has been terrorizing grocery stores for months. he's accused of dousing food

with bleach. police say 48-year-old david lohr would pour bleach into grocery store refrigerators and freezers. court documents do not name the stores where he is accused of committing the crimes. investigators say lohr began his crime spree in december of last year and continued into january. they say security video shows him dumping the bleach in stores in redondo beach, manhattan beach and west hollywood. lohr was tracked down lohr was hollywood. lohr was tracked down and arrested in sunnyvale. county animal shelter is debatng whether to euthanize two dogs that attacked several farm animals belonging to a vallejo elementary school. three alpacas were killed in the attack. flowers have been tied to the gate outside the loma vista farm. the alpacas were found dead by their caretaker. three sheep and two goats were also attacked but are recovering from their wounds. the farm is part of the loma vista environmental science academy's campus.. and is visited weekly by students. the farm keeper says the alpacas were loved by the kids who came to visit. ( james ) coming up ... growing concerns in pleasanton about the potential for dangerous erosion with the upcoming storms.

the upcoming storm. as it moves toward the bay area ... neighbors in pleasanton are worried about the potential for dangerous erosion ... that could bring their homes close to the edge of a cliff.( james ) two years ago -- people living along foothill road lost parts of their yard to arroyo creek during heavy rain. now they fear it'll happen again. kron4's michelle kingston has more,. mexican drug lord joaquin "el chapo" guzman has been convicted of drug-trafficking charges at a trial in new york. the verdict reached on the sixth day of jury deliberations could put the 61-year-old behind bars for the rest of his life in a high-security u.s. prison. guzman broke out of mexican prisons twice before he was finally recaptured and extradited to the u.s. in 2017. federal prosecutors put on more than 50 witnesses over three months detailing how guzman's sinaloa cartel amassed billions of dollars importing tons of cocaine, heroin, meth and marijuana into the u.s.
