is where the trip started..the balloon took off skypark airport this morning.and they were stranded for about an hour. high winds are to blame,for a hot air balloon to land in an unusual place sunday morning.the balloon came down in the area of skaggs island near vallejo.on board 10 passengers - 1 pilot. the hot air balloon took off from sonoma skypark airport it was supposed to be a tour floating above the vineyards and surrounding hills of sonoma county..but it made a detour.. alberto laroa did not see the balloon but heard all the commotion outside his vallejo home.around 11 am the passengers and pilot were airliftedto the area of jack london drive and candy drive, ..with the help of c h p air operations

fire department: "they were transported via chp helicopters from skaggs island to this location. they were evaluated by paramedics and they were medically fine. and they were released.">this isn't the first time c-h-p air ops had to rescue a hot air balloon and its passengers.. back in may 20-16, the golden gate division conducted a similiar rescue in the same general area..the balloon landed on a thin strip of land surrounded by ponds and sloughs..and no road access to the location..back to the present..a spokesperson for the balloon company - sonoma ballooning adventures tells kron 4 due to high winds,the pilot chose the remote place to land, which was dry at the time.this incident was ultimately up to the pilot to choose an appropriate landing site based on conditions that morning.. in the end, the group continued their excursion - not in the air - but back here at the flight lounge for a post flight celebration with

(jrstone)westbound state route-37 remains closed between atherton avenue & 101 in novato because of severe flooding.and one of 2 lanes eastbound are closed for emergency levee repairs. work is being done 24 hours a day ... until it is complete and weather permitting.crews first began by building a road to access the levee break and are now working on the break itself. marin county declared a state of emergency because of the damage from this week's atmospheric river. (justine) after a mudslide in sausalito, 15 people remain displaced from red-tagged homes, according to the police department. a special meeting of the city council will be held monday, at 9 in the morning, to declare a local emergency. the city must declare an emergency within 10 days of a disaster in order to be eligible to receive funds from the state of california.of california.

showers will be ending tonight as drier air moves into the bay area. lows tonight will be dropping into the mid to upper 20s in the coldest interior valleys with mid to upper 30s around the bay. highs monday and tuesday will be in the mid to upper 50s, which is still about five degrees below normal. on wednesday expect only a slight chance of showers with rain amounts under one-tenth of an inch. expect another round of cold air so snow levels will be very low again. thursday and friday look to be dry, but a storm from the west could make its way into the bay area late next weekend.

on the permanent fix for the richmond san-rafael bridge

tomorrow after it got pushed back because of the major storm we just encountered. (justine) kron 4's sara stinson has details on the project and how it will impact drivers. trt: 1:02out: kron four news." we braved the storm - now caltrans can get to work on fixing the expansion joint that failed over a week ago. as crews waited out the storm - drivers have had to trust this eight foot steel plate installed as a temporary fix for the deteriorating expansion joints on the bridge's upper deck.as you recall - this was installed after huge chunks of concrete started falling from the upper deck forcing the shutdown of the bridge, which resulted in major gridlock for nine hours. the permanent replacement project is planned for ten overnight work shifts starting tomorrow.work will happen from 9 p-m until 4 a-m ... with little impact to traffic expected..one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction during construction.
