(gayle)the union says 95 percent of their members went on strike.today was a victory but there's still work to do. after seven days on the picket lines,the oakland teacher's strike is over...the district and the union both announcing friday afternoon, the two sides have reached a tentative agreement..an 11 percent salary increase plus a one time 3 percent bonus for educators.

keith brown/oea:oakland educators have been working without a contract since 20-17, according to the union, the starting salary of an oakland teacher is 46-thousand-dollars, higher, livable wages, smaller classroom sizes and more resources were the top reasons for the strike...the teacher's union was seeking a 12 percent pay raise over three years..the new offer - a staggering 7 percent increase..from the district's original offer..district superintendent kyla trammell has expressed the district is in a structural deficit and while the offer is under the district's limit,the money will come from budget cuts..

authorize a strike... as their contract negotiations are entering their final stage. the teachers the teachers started voting on monday... the vote will give their union the power to eventually call a strike... if they don't reach a deal in the near future. the teachers want a pay raise, but they also want smaller classes and more school nurses .. things which they say will help not just them but more importantly, the students both sides are hoping to avoid a strike ... but the teachers say, if there is no deal in place, they could be out of the classrooms and on the picket lines as early as april. orders for areas that had been flooded by recent storms. that's good news for the residents of guernville along the russia river. (pam) they can now return to their homes and businesses and start cleaning up. kron 4's charles clifford has details. well here along the russian river on friday the water level continued to drop but as you can see behind me there is a still a lot of water flowing. fortunatly, it is below flood stage and for that reason officials have been allowing people to return to there homes here in guernville and assess the damage from the past week.now, they are finding a lot of mud and debris, tree branches, damage to the lower levels of many buidlings. downtown guernville sits a little higher than some other parts of town so it was spared the worst of the damage.i did talk to the owner of a car wash who returned today and found a mess.sot

(grant) the water is still swollen, but now back within its banks. most of the road-blocks around the town of guerneville were removed this morning, so thousands of evacuatees could see what was left. natwater trucks sprayed the roads for the first convoy of returnees.waiting for them ... the grim aftermath of the worst flood in decades.this: lotta mud, lotta muckyou know this came in so fast this time....compares to the '86 flood for sure...the water came up to the rooflineit's sewage water, there's countless bacteriasome roads remain closed ... the sheriff's department posted this video of the bohemian highway near monte rio. you can see debris on the road and a tree that fell on power lines. the owner of this ruined auto shop has been in guerneville since he was a teenager,he says loves living on the river everybody here does. i'm going to spend two months scrubbing everything ... this is our treasuredozens of county inspectors visited homes and businesses to clear them for reoccupation.this is where you'll see the famous green yellow and red tags advising owners and residents
