( darya ) breaking news. san francisco giants ceo larry baer says he's stepping away from the team to take some "personal time" after a video showed an altercation with his wife on friday. in the video, baer can be seen knocking his wife, pam, to the ground during an altercation at a san francisco park. in the video his wife screams for help. in a statement from the team, the board of directors said baer is taking a leave of absence immediately and the executive team will oversee day to day operations and will report directly to the board. the baer's

released three statements since the altercation apologizing for the incident. ( james ) breaking news we are following this morning... at least 23 people are dead following a series of tornados in alabama and georgia. this is video of just some of the damage in those two states. search and rescue efforts are happening right now... and officials in alabama say the detah toll is expected to rise. camila bernal has the latest. a string of tornadoes ripped through alabama and georgia sunday afternoon...charlie patel/ gas station attendant: "i'm scared because i am on the counter and 10 seconds and the tornado comes and everything is gone, everything destroyed."tearing roofs off homes, and snapping trees like twigs.in lee county, alabama, two deadly tornadoes hit within an hour of each other,

devestating the areabill harris/ lee county, al coroner: "it came on pretty sudden. we had fair warning and then it just hit with a vengeance and it just destroyed a very large area." search and rescue efforts had to cease overnight for safety reasons, but will resume at first light. and with that, the death toll could rise. sheriff jay jones/ lee county, alabama: "we have multiple residences that have been completely destroyed... there are some juveniles involved in the fatality situation. adults as well."sheriff jay jones/ lee county, alabama: "the challenge is just the sheer amount of damage and debris that's all through the areas where the homes were located.across the state line in talbotton, georgia, at least 15 structures were destroyed as the storm system moved east. several injuries were reported, but none severe. in lee county, alabama, i'm camila bernal.

( darya ) teachers in oakland will be back in the classrooms today after reaching a deal with the school district to end the seven day teachers strike. members of the oakland education association voted to accept the contract from the school district. teachers lined up at the paramount theater to vote on the districts deal yesterday. the union and the district have been negotiating for the past two years. teachers were demanding higher wagers, smaller class sizes and more resources. here's a breakdown of what's inside the new contract. teacher's are getting an 11-percent salary increase.. with a 3-percent bonus. they will see lower class sizes...one student will be removed from each classroom. there will be more student support...which will reduce caseloads for counselors from

a ratio of 600 students to one counsleor... to 500 students. the district is also pausing the closure of some scools. ( darya ) a memorial service is happening today for san francisco public defender jeff adachi. it will take place at 11 oclock- at city hall ... its open to the public. the 59-year old died last month, after dining with a friend in north beach. police say, they have ruled out foul play in the death. however, the public defender's office has asked the san francisco board of supervisors ... for a formal investigation into adachi's passing. ( darya ) in the east bay... four people were shot over the weekend inside a business in downtown oakland. the victims, two men and two women, were shot just after midnight sund at a business in the 300 block of 14th street. a man has been arrested in connection with the shooting. police were not able to provide any additional information about what led to the shooting or the identity of the shooter. ( james ) new this morning...police in pacifica are searching for answers after two people were found dead inside a home.

officers found the bodies yesterday afternoon in the 11-hundred block of banyan way. right now, there are no suspects and police say there's no public safety concern. ( james ) happening today...city leaders in petaluma could approve the construction of a safeway gas station along a busy intersection. dozens of people walked along mcdowell boulevard yesterday speaking out against the project. if approve... the gas station would be built at the intersection of mcdowell and maria drive. people against the project say that's too close to the petaluma child development center and mcdowell elementary. they also worry that the new fuel station would increase traffic in the area.

safeway to do additional work on its environmental impact review . ( james ) happening today....vallejo is debuting its first new water ferry in years. service for the one hour ride into san francisco starts at 5:30 a-m. the last ferry returns at 8:15 p-m. one way trip tickets are just over 14 dollars. and round trip tickets are just over 29- dollars. they even offer 24 hour parking for 7-dollars. the ferry fits about 450 people on board. ( darya ) there will be áno criminal charges filed against five san mateo county deputies involved in a deadly tasing incident. back in october... 36-year-old chinedu okobi was tased 4 separate times... when a deputy attempted to stop him while he was walking on el camino real in the city of millbrae. he was later pronounceddead at the scene. the d-a's report revealed okobi was unarmed... was ánot under the influence of any drugs or alcohol... and hadn't been a suspect in any crimes. the d-a's office also

said... okobi suffered from mental illness... and failed to submit to a lawful order to stop walking. ( darya ) the family's attorney is now preparing a civil claim against san mateo county sheriff's office. ( james ) in sacramento.... no charges will be filed against the police officers who fatally shot stephon clark. his family says their hearts are broken again. ( darya ) john lawrence has the story. protests this weekend in sacramento.....stevante clark/stephon clark's brother "i would like accountability. i want justice and accountability."the county's district attoey announced this weekend that no charges will be filed against the two police officers who fatally

discovered in the windows of- the salesforce tower. two pieces of interior glass have cracked... one on the 12th floor the other on the 14th. bill strawn with the san francisco department of building inspection says a reporter notified the city about the crack. in a statement the building owner says they acted immediately to determine the cause of the cracked windows and to took preventative steps. a building inspector has now been briefed by the property owner but the city is not conducting its own investigation. ( darya ) this morning... we're hearing from the boyfriend of the 22-year-old woman who died in a landslide at san francisco's fort funston. the national park service announced friday that they are done searching for the body of kyra scarlet. investigators say kyra, her friend and her dog were trying to avoid the high tide when the landslide occured. the two and the dog were

680 at monument. traffic jammed from 242 in concord ( james ) an oregon man is thanking rescuers and taco bell after he and his dog survived being stranded in the snow for five days. jeremy taylor says his s-u-v got stuck in snow last sunday...he says he fell asleep and woke up the following day to even more snow.. taylor says he tried to walk but the snow was too deep..so he and the dog returned to the car. over the next few days he told authorities that he stayed warm by periodically starting his vehicle and using taco sauce packets as food. taylor was rescued friday after he was spotted by a snowmobile rider.
