(robin) now to the big story this morning... students in oakland... pleaded with the school board ... to invest money to support their education. but instead... the board members decided to make massive cuts to the budget. this decision comes after the teachers voted in favor of their new contract over the weekend. yesterday during a three- hour board meeting... the oakland unified school district board voted 4 - 3 ... to make close to 22- million dollars in cuts... to next school year's budget. dozens of students, teachers and members of the community expressed disappointment and even anger at the board for its plan. but, the teachers union defends the decision. foster care case managers, african american male acheievement, and restorative justice .... are all among the programs slated to be cut. everyone is now hoping the governor's office steps in... and provides more funding, so at least some of the programs on the chopping block.. can be saved. (robin) happening now.... arrests are being made... after dozens of protesters marched through the streets of sacramento .... furious over the district attorney's refusal to charge the officers ... who shot and killed stephon clark in march of last year. according to authorities, the officers have said, they thought the 22- year-old was holding a gun when they confronted him in his grandparent's backyard... but later found out he was

(robin) the two young girls who went missing northern california are sharing their story. they wandered off and was lost in the woods for nearly two days. drew miller has the story.

son at that point cause my husband was at work. and wyat and i hiked at least 2 and half miles around our house screaming their names and ringing a giant bell that they always come back to, but the kids never came back."the carrico family live on over 80 acres of land.leia and caroline are accustomed to playing in the woods. . but this time they were chasing deer tracks which led them to unfamiliar territory.leia carrico:"we went down this mountain to five metal post and gone up this mountain behind a little creek. and we kept going up that mountain, and then we took a right turn and it led us to those five metal post again and that's when i realized we'd gone in a circle."friday night temperatures were in the low 40's and the rain was one the way.fortunately. . because the family takes camping trips and the girls participate in the 4-h youth development program. .they were able to build the makings of a campfire. but when that failed they found a
