(dave)an upper level low moving continue to produce scattered showers across the southern portion of our area through late evening. dry conditions will return by monday, but ht rain chances return on tuesday as a weak cold front moves through the area. most locations will see little to no precipitation as the system passes on tuesday. high pressure will build over

21-year-old victor mcelhaney was studying music at the university of southern california. los angeles police say he was killed in an attempted robbery less than a mile near t police say three to four male suspects approached mcelhaney and one shot him.. the group then fled in a vehicle.. he was taken to the hospital where he later died.. ( james ) councilwoman mcelhaney released a statement sunday night saying in part "victor was a son of oakland. he was a musician who drew his inspiration from the beat, soul, and sound of the town and he belonged in every nook and cranny of oakland. we are beginning a new chapter in this reoccurring circle of violence...and it will take all of us together to make it through this tragedy." kill alameda county sheriff deputies. kron4's dan thorn has the story. a scary sunday morning at oakland international airport.. video shows a deputy pointing at gun at a man armed with a knife...the alameda county sheriff's office says the suspect wanted to kill a deputy.. sot: very tense moments there as she had her firearm withdrawn worried that he was going to come forward with an attack.earlier video shows the unidentified man lurking around patrol cruisers. he was peeking into the windows but the vehicles were empty because deputies were patrolling on foot..the man was carrying this golden eight inch blade...a fema deputy was alerted and approached the man with her gun drawn..the suspect dropped his knife...then decided not to cooperate and picked it sot: as things began to d to escalate she started to descalate. she called for back up. she called for other deputies in the area to come

to her assistance...the man turns away from her and heads back toward the cruisers..sgt. ray kelly with the sheriff's office says the man's goal was suicide by cop..the tense 3 and half minute ordeal ended with other deputies arresting the man without anymore trouble..sot: it takes a lot of courage like this deputy showed she showed her courage today because she stood up there and was not afraid to to confront this man but tried to save his life as well really proud of her and the work that ( james ) the suspect is now facing several charges including criminal threats. the sheriff's office says they're happy deputies were able to de-escalate the situation without any problems. ( james ) in the south bay... police are looking for the person who's throwing objects at cars on a highway. it's happened over several months along a stretch of highway 152. kron-4's rob california highway patrol wants drivers to be mindful of a person who is throwing rocks at vehicles along a south bay highway. authorities say it happened near gilroy over a

period of months on a stretch of highway 152 also known as the pacheco pass highway. authorities say someone has been throwing objects, believed to be rocks, at moving cars on the highway.its been going on for about a year between case de fruta parkway and dinosaur point road in both directions. at least 10 incidents have been reported and in most cases, it occurred at night, however, the most recent incident happened in broad daylight. no one has been seriously injured, but some victims were hit by the shattered glass, authorities say. chp is encouraging residents to call right away and do not wait to report the incident.

happening today.... san francisco mayor london breed is announcing the appointment of a new public defender. the announcement comes after the death of long time public defender jeff adachi. the 59-year old husband and father died last month after having dinner with a friend in the city's north beach neighborhood. police have ruled out foul play. today's announcement is happening at 9:30 on the mayor's balcony. ( james ) there's concern in half moon bay after a chunk of conrete broke away from the bluff at the pedestrian bridge. you may remember that a big section of the bluff gave way back in 20-16. metal barricades and sandbags are still set up to protect mirada road...from exposure to high tides and storm events.. san mateo county workers put up boulders on the beach to break the surf..but with the rounds of storms over io have c the boulders to shift..leaving areas along mirada road unprotected.. a roding issues on moss beach is hoping

( james ) half moon bay is considered an "erosion hot spot." city and county planners are evaluating long term solutions to stabilize and protect the coast.. ( james ) in world news...search operations are underway after ethiopian airlines flight 302 crashed, killing all 1-hundred-and- fifty-seven on board. the boeing 737 aircraft was en route to nairobi when it lost contact six minutes after taking off sunday. eight americans and seven british nationals were also on board. the u-n issued a statement saying nineteen u-n staff members were among those killed. meanwhile, the ethiopian airlines has decided to ground their fleet of boeing 737 max

( james ) city leaders in san jose have come up with a plan for those r-v's parked on the sides of roads. they are looking to create safe parking areas -- at churches and service organizations -- where people can park and sleep overnight. kron4's michelle kingston has the details. have identified the nine-year- old girl whose body was found in a duffel bag last week. the victim's name is trinity love jones. investigators haven't revealed how she died. two persons of interest are being questioned. more facts are expected to be released later this week. ( james ) the woman who was attacked by a jaguar while trying to take a selfie at a zoo in arizona is now apologizing. the video we are about to show you is a bit graphic. here you see her on the ground - in obvious pain. the wildlife world zoo says witnesses saw her crossing over a barrier to take a picture of the jaguar enclosure. that's when the animal reached out and attacked her arm. the jaguar let go after a witness distracted it with a bottle. the woman needed medical attention but is expected to be

says this is not the first time the female jaguar has hurt a park visitor. reporter: "has this jaguar ever hurt anyone?"mickey ollson: "she had scratched a person once before when they crossed the barrier."( james ) zoo officials say the jaguar never got out of her enclosure and won't be put down. ( james ) in national news... president trump's top national security adviser warns that isis is still a threat. the president has said that u-s backed forces have retaken "100-percent" of the territory once claimed by isis in syria. but national security adviser john bolton says isis fighters are still scattered around syria and iraq. bolton added isis is growing in other parts of the world... and that the reason there's still a small u-s presence in syria is to be able to deal with a possible resurgence. the top u-s general overseeing military operations in the middle east, said last week that the fight against isis is quote "far from over." ( james ) happening today... president trump will reportedly ask for billions of dollars in new

border-wall funding. that's according to a white house official... who says the white house is looking to get 5 billion dollars from customs and border protection, and three-point-six billion in military construction funds from the pentagon. in total that's 8-point-6 billion dollars. trump says the wall is needed to stop an "invasion" of illegal immigrants.
