( james ) another big story we are following this morning... police in the east bay investigating two separate freeway shootings from over the weekend. and one of them was deadly. the most recent happened in livermore. a 24-year-old woman was shot in the leg while driving on 580. it happened yesterday evening. the woman was sitting in the passenger side of the car. she and another person drove off the freeway to call police. the woman is expected to be okay. police do not have a description of the shooter or the shooter's car. ( james ) the chp is also investigating a freeway shooting on highway 4 in concord. this shooting turned deadly. it happened saturday afternoon... and this morning we have learned the victim's name. the chp was investigating a silver honda that had drven off the road and hit a guard rail on eastbound highway 4 at port chicago highway. officers found bullet holes on the driver's side door. the woman behind the wheel died at the scene. she has been identified as 25-year-old destinee hillery from antioch. she was the only person in

( james ) an east bay school official is fighting for his life after he was shot by his wife in a domestic dispute. paul shatswell was shot inside his home on barrie drive early saturday morning.. police say shatswell's wife, 39 year old maria vides, shot him.. ..she's now facing attempted murder charges. shatswell is a principal at the pittsburg adult education center. the superintendent released a statement saying in-part "his impact is wide across our pittsburg community. along with the shock and grief, there will be many memories of his love of music, friends, family, pittsburg, and his passion for education." ( will ) breaking international news this morning... a manhunt is underway after a gunman opened fire inside a tram in the netherlands. several people are injured. the shooting happened around 2:45 this morning. dutch police say they are considering terrorism as a possible motive. dutch police have linked a 37-year-old turkish man to the shooting. we will

( will ) if you take 880 in hayward can expect delays this week as cal trans begins work on express lanes. crews are closing the southbound lanes between winton avenue and highway 92. all lanes will be closed between 11:59 at night through 4 a-m tuesday and wednesday. crews will be installing 880 express lanes signs. detour signs will be in place during the closure. ( james ) new this morning... a surfer had to be rescued after being stranded on rocks near the cliff house restaurant in san francisco. this happened around 7:00 last night. the surfer was not injured but a helicopter had to be called in because the rough waters made a boat rescue impossible. boy in vacaville was stabbed over the weekend while trying to stop a fight. it happened friday evening in the 300 block of mono drive. police say two men were arguing with another man when the child tried to intervene. the 12-year-old was cut on the arm..one of the men was also stabbed.. they both are expected to be okay. ( will ) a bike accident in the south of market neighborhood of san francisco left a 30 year old berkeley woman dead earlier this month. now the accident has pushed the city to create another protected bike lane. ( james ) kron 4's noelle bellow has the story. we can't just keep piecing and adding little bits and little bits. it's just a bandaid on a bigger problem bicyclist fiona tay says the death of tess rothstein hit her hardits acutally really personal and im really angry it was just 60 feet away from where the protected bike lane startedon march 8th, rothstein was riding her bike down howard when she was struck and killed. witnesses say she had veered away from the bike lane

to avoid being struck by the open door of a parked car. just days after her death, the city removed parking on the block rothstein was hit -- creating a temporary protected lane.. we can get a protected bike lane in pretty quikcly after someone is hit and killed charles deffarges is the senior community organizer for the sf bicycle coalition the outpouring of greif and and support for protected bike lanes city wide has been enormous and we are mobilizing that to city hall with supervisor matt haney for demand for protected bike lanes city widewe want protected bike lanes for the full length of folsom and howard from the embarcardero to 11th. deffarges says right now projects like this can take years..many are wondering in the mean time -- what rights do bicyclists even have in the city?bike traffic is somewhat unique in sf.legal analyst steve clark says

view after an iowa state trooper warned them that long was on his way to google. this morning we are hearing from the iowa trooper who alerted mountain view police. angelina salcedo has the story. (nats)it was a normal call to respond to: one vehicle in the ditch at the 92 mile marker of i-80.trooper ryan zenor/ iowa state patrol"the vehicle was running, the windows were down, the radio was on and there was no one around."that was the first red flag for trooper zenor.sot trooper - "that is not typical, somebody that is in danger, or does wreck, usually calls."after running the truck's license plate, cops found out long was from maine and has a violent past.trooper ryan zenor/ iowa state patrol"they immediately put me in an officer safety alert - meaning this subject had diagnosed mental disorders, was extremely violent."meanwhile long was at the nearby kum and go waiting for a tow truck when troopers circled back to question him. ( james ) new this morning...a historical moment for southwest airlines... its first passenger flight touched down sunday afternoon in hawaii. inside the honolulu airport, there was hula, music, and a traditional hawaiian blessing ceremony to celebrate the milestone. the plane came from oakland international airport with 156 passengers on board. southwest says it'll soon announce service from hawaii to other california cities like san diego and sacramento. are hearing from the family of a man in vallejo who was fatally shot by police at a taco bell drive-thru.( james ) the family of 20-year-old willie mccoy says he was ánot alert at the time of his death....they are now calling for the public to see the police body cam video that they got to view last week. kron4's dan thorn has the story. the family of 20 year old willie mccoy says the aspiring rapper was not alert when police shot and killed him. sot: willie was unarmed. he was never coherent they shot him all of those times while he was asleep. mccoy's cousin david harrison says he viewed the police body cam shown by

last month, rocky was was found buried under feet of garbage in a dumpster at an apartment complex. the dog was dehydrated and suffered from a severely broken back leg... unfortunately, veterinarians determined the leg had to be amputated. 59-year-old ronald jones is accused of beating the dog and throwing it down a 3 story trash chute.. rocky spent 4 days and 4 nights without any food or water...

officers were able to find and arrest the supsect...their identity has not been released. ( will ) the placer county sheriffs office says a vallejo man died while snow-boarding in the sierra. the body of 40 year old danieson crowder was discovered on the slopes at northstar on wednesday. that's the same day he was reported missing. the sheriff's office says he went snowboarding alone last monday. ( james ) thousands of dollars are on the way to irvington high school's athletic program thanks to an annual charity basketball game. super bowl champion and fremont native robert turbin was back in town to put on the event. last season was rough for turbin... he was injured for parts of it and then the indianapolis colts released him before the season was over. despite that, turbin invited three time olympic gold medalist will claye, and his former college teammate and current n-f-l player bobby wagner to join him. have been through many many challenges in my life and to get through them and to get to where i'm at, and to throw in the towel now you know i would

called police after hearing the kitten crying. it was stuck 14 feet below a concrete walking deck. the pipe was only 4 inches wide. it took firefighters and animal control about an hour to get the kitten out of the pipe. the firefighter who rescued the kitten is now considering adopting it ( will ) coming up on the kron four morning news at 5 a-m... two freeway shootings in the east bay and one turns deadly. we have the latest details coming up at the top of the next hour. former congressman beto o'rourke entered the democratic presidential race last week, and he's already making waves financially. his campaign says the texas democrat raised more than six million dollars in the first 24 hours of his 20-20 presidential campaign. that tops the five-point-nine million dollar one-day total that senator bernie sanders announced earlier this year. and it's the largest announced first-day haul of any 20-20 democratic contender to date.
