bridge officials will consider a proposal to increase tolls over the next five years starting july first. there are two different scenarios the golden gate bridge, highway and transportation district board of directors could pick.one option would increase tolls for fastrak drivers by 30-cents yearly making it 8.50 to cross the bridge.for pay as you go customers it would cost nine dollars and those who use the invoice billing to nine dollars and 75 cents over five years.this would raise approx 90 million dollars over five

years.the other option being considered today is more expensive for fastrak drivers rising tolls 35 cents a year making it eight dollars and 75 cents.for pay as you go it would be nine dollars and invoice billing would have to pay nine dollars and 75 cents. this would raise a 100 millon dollars over five years. the bridge district says they need to increase tolls to pay for operations, leasing equipment, supplies and materials, all so they can maintain service. the district has received coment from the public who

thanks sara. happening today. there will be a hearing on a request to postpone the ghost ship warehouse fire trial. a motion was filed asking to delay the trial of the two defendants in the case by six months ... because of newly discovered evidence. ghostship warehouse creative director max harris and master tennant derick almena are charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter for the fire during a music party in oakland that killed 36 people in 2016. almena and harris' trial is set to begin april second.

new this morning. two san francisco supervisors want to close down the city's juvenile hall. supervisors hillary ronen and shamann walton say the city is spending more than 13 million dollars a year to lock kids up in a juvenile hall ... that they say is 70 to 75 percent empty. a proposal is being drafted to close san francisco's juvenile hall by the year 20-21 ... and instead use city money to pay for a non-institutional rehab center with various programs and services. the center would serve as a new model for youth who have to be detained per state law. ( will ) also new this morning... a man's body was found in coyote creek lake in san jose police recovered the body near monterey and metcalf roads yesterday morning. a hiker finding the body and told an area maintenance who called law enforcement. investigators don't believe he was murdered. ( james ) breaking news from overnight. we've just learned that one person

died this morning in a house fire in bay point. contra costa county firefighters responded to the 100 block of loftus road around 1 this morning and found heavy smoke coming from the home. a woman was able to get out of the home through a window, but a man was still trapped inside. firefighters were able to get the man out of the home and to an ambulance, but the man later died at the hospital. police in san francisco are questioning a 56-year-old man after a deadly stabbing at fisherman's wharf. officers say -- they arrestd ábruce penná after finding 44-year-old ábrook johná on the sidewalk. john was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries. investigators are trying to figure out áwhyá the stabbing happened. they say both men frequently visited the fisherman's wharf area. ( james ) a big story this morning. fallout from the college admission cheating scandal keeps growing. u-c-l-a men's soccer coach jorge salcedo has resigned. he was indicted for conspiracy to commit racketeering and accepting bribes. salcedo's role in

the scandal involves helping two students get on soccer teams ... even when neither of them played the sport. one of those students is lauren isackson from hillsborourgh in san mateo county. she was part of the women's soccer team in 20-17 ... despite having no previous according to prosecutors. her parents have been charged for taking part in the scam. ( will ) a suspected arson caught on camera... and now san mateo police are asking for help in identiying the suspects.. wanted for setting the blaze. at least 3 fires were set within a 30 minute span early thursday morning. the two men are spotted walking in an alleyway around 3:30am... targetting garbage cans behind a blood center on 2nd avenue.. then setting another fire near a parking garage. the last fire was in front of the joseph a bank on 3rd avenue

( james ) a woman near sacramento got a áveryá unexpected house guest --- when a turkey crashed through her bedroom window and landed on her bed. the property manager heard the crash --- and managed to get video of the turkey just lounging on the bed. she called animal control --- but the turkey flew the coop before they arrived. this isn't the first turkey break-in in elk grove. in january, police responding to a burglary alarm at another residence found a broken window and a turkey wandering around inside the home. ( will ) a big debate at the state capitol centers around safe, affordbale drinking water and how the state should pay to make sure everyone has it. governor gavin newsom is proposing a

safe affordable drinking water fund to clean up contaminated water in rural and low income areas. the fund would come from water customers across california, proposing each pay between 95 cents to 10 dollars a month, depending on the water meter. but assembly repbulican whip devon mathis' district and a bipartisan group of lawmakers are proposing a competing measure. ( will ) the measure would set aside 2-percent of the general fund a year to go toward a number of water improvement projects including ground water clean up and emergency drinking water programs. the final approval would be up to the voters.

( james ) a bill in california's state legislature would put an end to charging state sales tax on diapers. advocates for assembly bill 66 say it would essentially provide about 100 dollars a year in tax relief by eliminating state and local sales tax on diapers. san diego assembly member lorena gonzalez wrote the bill. she's sponsored similar bills twice before, but neither passed. check your freezer this morning. a popular frozen food product for many families is being recalled. tyson foods says 69-thousand pounds of chicken strip products could have possible pieces of metal. you can see the products on your screen. they were produced on november 30th, 2018... and

( will ) big national story we are following this morning... democratic leaders in the house of representative s say new information shows white house officials have used personal messaging accounts for official government business. representative elijah cummings says president trump's son-in- law jared kushner communicated with foreign leaders through a private messaging app that lacked adequate safeguards. it's not known if kushner communicated classified. according to cummings, trump's daughter ivanka may be in violation of the presidential records act for using a private email account. the accusations are especially notable considering president trump's ongoing criticism of former secretary of state hillary clinton's use state

list of the fbi's highest child sex trafficking areas in the u-s. and the trend spans across the bay area. only on kron4, vicki liviakis talks with a young woman from sonoma who was trafficked in the bay area when she was just 12 years old... and is now warning other children. "having lived in sonoma county life has always been delightful simple and safe..." that's the image many of us have of sonoma county. but for maya - life there was anything but. and it began in the 6th grade. a child from a good home - even so, she was lured into the world of sex trafficking. maya spent six years being trafficked in sonoma, san francisco and marin. she says it was a woman she calls olivia who approached her about modeling. and from there it lead to fear, intimidtation and a dark path

( james ) you can join the fight against human trafficking this weekend.... there will be a three-hour event this saturday march 23rd from 3-6 p-m... at dominican university at guzman hall in san rafael. the event focuses on human trafficking awareness and how people can fight back. you will also hear from a trafficking survivor, young activists, and legal professionals. admission is free however space is limited. no plea deal in a domestic violence case that critically injured a pittsburg principal. here is a picture of the victim. maria vides is accused of shooting her husband paul shatswell early saturday morning. in addition to attempted murder charges ... special allegations have been added for using a gun and causing shatswell to become comatose because of a brain injury. vee-dez did not enter a plea because the charges could be amended. she is expected to enter a ánotá guilty plea. ( will ) one east bay woman is getting closure... after her mother's nearly 40-year-old cold case murder was solved. betty jean elias was murdered in her oakland home in october 19-79. her daughter --- joanne paletta --- says she was a caring and giving person. despite decades of waiting --- joanne stayed persistant. until finally in 20-16, when d-n-a

led to the arrest of dennis ray eagle. who was already in jail in virginia. and is now awaiting trial in aladema county. dennis eagle's jury trial begins april 8th. joanne says she will be there for every court date. ( james ) new this morning... a man shot and killed in atlanta has close ties with wariors star kevin durant. according to the new york post... durant referred to clifford dixon as his adopted brother. dixon was found shot to death thursday outside a lounge where he was celebrating his birthday. police say he was standing outside in the parking lot when somebody walked up and shot dixon several times. the gunman took off. dixon played high school basketball with durant. durant also thanked dixon during his speech after he was named m-v-p back in 2014. kevin durant's mother took to twitter to offer her condolences to the dixon family. ( james ) new this morning... the tampa bay buccaneers have made n-f-l history becoming the first team ever to hire two full-time female assistant coaches. the buccaneers announced the hiring of a fmale conditioning coach and defensive line coach. they are the first full-time female coaches in buccaneers' franchise history. kathryn smith was the first woman to hold a full-time coaching job in the n-f-l.she was a special teams quality control coach for the buffalo bills in 20-16. ( james ) former 49ers colin kaepernick and eric reid settled collusion lawsuits against the nfl... but the exact amount has not been revealed... until now. according to the wall street journal... kaepernick and reid will receive less than 10-million dollars. they filed collusion grievances against the league, saying they were blacklisted because of protests during the national anthem. kaepernick has not played in the league since 2016, while reid missed three games last season before signing with

( will ) it's finally official... the raiders have gotten final approval... to remain in oakland for at least one more season. the oakland city council voted to approve the lease for 2019 with an option for 2020. with an option for 2020. the alameda board of supervisors had voted earlier in the week in favor of the lease that had been approved by the coliseum authority last week. the raiders will pay 7-point-5 million dollars in rent for the colium and the practice facility in alameda in 2019. that rent will go up to 10-point-5 million in 20-20... if the raiders have to stay in oakland for yet another final season... that would only be if their vegas stadium is not ready yet.
