sreet from the movie theater. this morning police do not have the shooter in custody. the shooting happened at the union bank parking lot on mount diablo blvd and locust street last night just before ten.an entire block was tapped off as walnut creek police investigated the scene...nearby movie goers stood by wondering what happened.after a man was shot he walked into kaiser's walnut creek medical center with a gunshot wound to the back.his injuries are non life threatening.the odd thing is that there are very few witnesses so the circumstances that led up to the shooting are still under investigation. people on scene say the victim was robbed before being shot - but we are still trying to confirm that with police. right now we're waiting to get an update from police to see where they're at in the investigation this morning. live in walnut creek, sara stinson, kron four news.

"paul shatswell" died sunday after he was placed on life support... he was shot last weekend at a home on barrie drive. police got a call about a domestic incident and found the 45-year-old shot in the head. shatswell was a principal at pittsburg adult education center. right now --his wife 39-year-old ámaria videsá is charged with attempted murder... she is being held on 2-million dollars bail at the contra costa sheriff's office jail in martinez. the couple have

8 children together. this is the city of pittsburg's first homocide of the year. police in san francisco continue to investigate a shooting that killed one person and sent 5 people to the hospital. the shooting happened saturday night just after 8:30 in the 13-hundred block of fillmore. police say the person killed was a 25- year-old man from san francisco. officers so far don't have any descriptions of the suspects ( james )(ááálandingááá) now to a big story we are following... the valero benicia refinery has temporarily shut down after an opernational issue caused heavy smoke to billow into the sky from it's facility. and today ... you could see flaring and visible plumes during the ongoing shutdown. kron 4's gayle ong has the latest. cell phone video shows heavy

dark smoke emitting from the valero benicia refinery sunday morning.the smoke was blowing over solono and contra costa county..pam dixon wakes up to this view every day..benicia city officials sent an advisory alert shortly after. the advisory was lifted in the afternoon. city officials confirm testing showed no heavy metals at harmful levels..valero

officials say the emissions were the result of "operational issues" with the refinery's flue gas scrubber. valero says the refinery was in the process of a controlled shutdown of its benicia facility after it was determined that a stack was emitting particles containing coke - a byproduct of the refining process composed primarily of carbon particles. i spoke to a former valero employee off camera who says the smoke is rare but it means the safety features of the refinery are working as they should be.meantime, air district officials tell kron4 inspectors have been at the facility this week and have issued seven notice of violations for excess visible emissions and public nuisance. ( james ) new this morning... a man is dead after he was hit by a car while trying to cross highway 101 in mountain view. it happened

last night near the rengstorff avenue interchange. the person was trying to cross the northbound lanes when he was hit by the car. police say the driver stopped at the scene and is working with police. the victim was taken to the hospital where he died... his identity has not been released. the nothbound lanes of 101 were shutdown for about 30 minutes after the accident. ( will ) happening today...apple is expected to enter the television and news industries when it unveils a new service. it's expected to involve t-v shows, movies, music and a news subscription service in partnership with the wall street journal. apple is reportedly spending more than a billion dollars on its new lineup of shows featuring a- list stars from hollywood. how they are streamed, a timeline for the release and possible bundle offerings-- are all expected to be revealed. ( will ) a surfer was rescued from ocean beach over the weekend near the cliff house restaurant. the man was rescued just after four sunday after noon in the area known as seal rocks. a

helicopter was used to rescue him after he was stranded on the coastal rocks just below the cliff house. he is expected to be okay. ( james ) governor gavin newsom signed an executive order to establish a fire prevention plan in vulnerable parts of the state. the governor announced an ambitious fire prevention plan in middletown which suffered the first of a series of massive wildfires in 2015. since then there have been other catastrophic wildfires. newsomús proclamation allows fast tracking prescribed burns, clearing out fire breaks, and managing forests in the most vulnerable areas. it also means doing faster environmental reviews. the plan heps local officials organize and prepare for disasters, and it provides 50 million dollars to mobilize volunteer groups like americorps. ( james ) this week - -emergency officials will be conducting a test for sending out earthquake alerts to cell phones in oakland. beginning at 11 on wednesday, your cell phone may go off if you're in or around downtown oakland. officials

barr's summary of the mueller report. according to barr -- the report did not find donald trump's presidential campaign conspired with russia during the 20-16 election. it was also announced that mueller also didn't have sufficient evidence to prosecute the president for obstruction of justice... as karin caifa has the latest from washington. initial reaction to attorney general bill barr's summary of the mueller report, previewing a new battle ahead.in his memo to members of congress, barr wrote that at the conclusion of mueller's 22-month investigation, "the special counsel's investigation did not find that the trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 u.s. presidential election." the president reacted to the news while leaving south florida sunday.president donald trump: there was no collusion with russia. there was no obstruction. and none whatsoever. and it was a complete and total exoneration. but on the investigation into whether the president obstructed justice, barr's letter quotes mueller as saying, "while this report

( james ) doctors are now calling for taxes on sugary drinks and soda .... to limit children and teens from consuming a lot of sugar. physician groups like the american academy of pediatrics and the american heart association released new policy recommendations ... urging federal, state and local lawmakers to take action against sugary drinks. in addition to a tax ... doctors want more detailed nutrtion labels on products ... and for lawmakers to curb the marketing of sugary drinks. they are also asking for more federal nutrition assistance programs to ensure access to healthy foods. ( james ) thanks sara. if you use the walnut creek bart station... there are some changes you need to know a new bus transit center is now open and there will soon be a new parking garage. there's also a new bart police substation. one big noticiable change is the location of the passenger drop off area. the white zone is no longer right outside the ticket agent booth. you will have to do a little walking to get to the location where passengers are being picked up. the new the new parking garage will be open friday.its going to increase parking by about 100 spaces overall ... compared to

( james ) new this morning...two people were taken to the hospital following a shooting sunday in san francisco. it happened around 2 a-m in the 4-hundred block of bay street. a 25-year-old woman and 21-year-old man were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. no information was released about suspects or any arrests. ( will ) police in sonoma county police in sonoma county are reminding drivers to lock their doors after a man was caught on camera breaking into a car. surveillance video caught this person walking up to cars in a healdsburg neighborhood. the first car was locked..and then he moves on to the next car..which wasn't locked..he goes inside and rummages through the vehicle...he then checks to see if a third car is unlocked. it happened near healdsburg high school. right now, its unclear if he took anything. this is one of just several car thefts police say are happening in

( will ) a loaded magazine caused a security scare at san francisco international airport. for about an hour...flights were grounded saturday and some boarding areas were shutdown. law enforcement was trying to track down a passenger who was flagged by t-s-a agents -- after they noticed a loaded magazine in the passenger's bag. that passenger reportedly ran away from the agents. the ordeal caused major delays and long lines. ( will )( will ) eventually, the t-s-a agents were able to track that person down. an aiport duty manager says the passenger had the magazine in his carry-on bag after visiting a shooting range. the passenger was re-screened

( james ) a newark little league is hoping survillance cameras will help them find the person who stole a valuable piece of equipment. last week, someone broke into a locked storage container at the ernie silva sports complex and took off with an a-t-v. officials with the league believe the thief knew what they were looking for because they used bolt cutters to get through the lock. officials believe the theft happened between last wednesday night and early thursday morning. the a-t-v has been used by the organization for more than 15 years and is registered with the d-m-v. on the open seas. a rio vista native was among the hundreds of people left stranded on cruise ship that experienced engine trouble and rough waters off the coast of norway. she shared shocking video ... as the waves rocked the ship back and forth. now, the ship is finally back in a port -- but the passengers still rattled. david daniel has the story.
