francisco with the latest christina? this is that picture of the scene outside of the church of eight wheels on filmore and fell streets. police say before the attack -- the victim approached the suspect and as the victim walked past the suspect... that suspect's maga hat came off, and that's when the suspect took out a sword and struck the victim. police say the suspect fled the scene on foot. the victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. witnesses say the suspect was making homophobic slurs to before this went down. police are still looking for the suspect. ( marty ) breaking overnight --- a man is on life support at an l-a hospital after he was assaulted in the parking lot at dodger stadium. police say the victim suffered a skull fracture following an argument between two men outside the stadium. the suspect was seen leaving the area in a white s-u-v and police there are still working to find him. the attack brings back painful memories of giants fan brian stow, who suffered severe brain damage after being attacked at the stadium in 2011. the dodgers increased security following that attack. a go fund me account has been set up to help with that dodger

fan's medical expenses. ( marty ) a plea frothe father of áthisá little boy in oakland. four-year-old navaughn jackson remains in critical condition, after he accidently shot himself in the head with a gun last week. navaughn's father -- 28 year old nathan jackson is calling on the state's help to see his child -- as the little boy clings to life. jackson is an inmate at salinas valley state prison. his family is asking the state to give him visitation rights at children's hospital in oakland.. kron 4's noelle bellow has our report. he's sorry for the bad choices that he made that got him here and away from his son, but no parent could ever imagine something like this would happen. jamilia land visited her nephew nathan jackson at salinas valley state prison saturday... she's his first visitor since he heard the news about his four year old boy. he has completely fallen a part.. screaming and crying nathan's son navaughn is on life support at children's

hospital oakland after he accidentally shot himself in the head wednesday. after requesting that nathan be given what's called a community leave, the state granted him a skype video call saturdya night. im grateful and appreciative that he has made that offer, but it is not enough. jamilia says community leaves can be granted to inmates that are classified level one or two. nathan is currently classified as a level four inmate. so the family is hoping the governor will show compassion, and make an exceptionhe has lost two brothers and a sister to gun violence and now his 4 year old son is in the hospital fighting for his life and im asking gov newsom as a father as a man to please grant him this exception and allow him to be safely transported to the hospital. where he can sit by his son's bedside. jamilia says considering the circumstances - she doesn't feel the request is unreasonableand says such a

collision finally stopped the stolen vehicle and the driver was taken into custody. a second person was found passed out in the back seat --- and was also arrested. authoties say none of the deputies that were hit suffered serious injuries. fifth grader wants to know why she died after fighting with a classmate. school officials are tight-lipped as the family demands they take action. so far, authorities have revealed few details. it happened at a school in south carolina. it's unclear what led to the fight at this elementary school monday, who witnessed it, or when school officials intervened. when paramedics responded, they found 10-year-old raniya wright unconscious in the nurse's office. she was then airlifted to a hospital, one hour away, in charleston. police called the altercation a "simple assault." wright died two days after the fight. ( marty ) school officials say one student has been suspended, but it's unclear if that student was involved in the

fight. authorities have not yet filed any criminal charges. doctors performed an autopsy friday -- but it could take several weeks before a cause of death is announced. ( marty ) in san diego county -- worshippers returned to a mosque set on fire by an arsonist last weekend. fire fighters put out the flames before any major damage occurred -- but it rattled the muslim community. someone also scrawled graffiti on the walls of the mosque referencing the attacks in new zealand that killed 50 people. other faith groups joined the muslim community shortly after the fire in an interfaith prayer vigil. worshippers say it's important to continue praying at the mosque. ( marty ) police were present for friday prayer at the mosque. they are investigating the arson as a hate crime. ( dave )

on tonight a few showers possible. i may be most a call that sprinkles for tonight or tomorrow, rather it really will develop until late in the day. scattered showers by night and then this week it's a break in the showers for midweek then we start to maybe kick into some heavier rain quotation marks i want to say by week's end because i've been looking at some of the rainfall totals and they're not necessarily that overly impressive yet that's still towards weeks and things can change in these models looking at the area temperatures now we're still shooting up to the 70's so that's pretty good performance, 70 open 72 hayward how about that spring has sprung 73 for livermore and also in the dock concord at 75. meanwhile, the peninsula. we're in the 60's territory, 71 for redwood city 72 in and map out. so try about 60 to 11 o'clock to about 70 with those scattered clouds again they're not going to be everywhere but some folks may start to see them kind of build upon gang up on us a little bit. here's the midweek break we're talking about by wednesday and thursday changes come in and here we go some more showers for friday and into saturday.

marty okay day thanks a lot. back to the news this morning a developing story controversy is heating up in san francisco over a proposed homeless center. >>san francisco mayor london breed wants to open it along the embarcadero kron four scale long reports 2 competing groups have raised over $100,000 to support and fight the plan. >>walk up and down this part than ten homeless people in this area and you just won't find it.">chris curtis and his wife alice support the city building additional housing for the homeless but are against this specific proposal..mayor london breed announced this month a safe navigation center for homeless people at the seawall lot 330 near pier 30 and pier 32..the lot is owned by the port of san francisco..the goal is to have a site on the embarcadero for 200 beds to provide shelter and services for homeless residents, particularly those living on the water front for four years.

little trailer.sot: i heard something loud like dragging across the road that way and i figured it was chains dragging on the ground.bustamante says he sprung out of bed around 3:30 once he heard something unusual going on outside..he says he quickly ran out of the house to catch them in the act..sot: by that time it was it was just too late..hours later surveillance video shows a white pick up truck dropping off the trailer 10 miles away from bustamante's san jose home..drivers in the other vehicles seem to be in on the crime...as they positioned themselves accordingly..the thieves are then seen getting out and helping unhitch the empty trailer..they then all drive off as if nothing happened.sot: it seemed like it was planned. this wasn't the first time somebody has done this probably they've done this multiple times. around 9 thursday morning--the trailer was spotted by a friend who alerted bustamante.. unfortunately, the tire mounting machine, the balancer, the flat repair and wheel lock removal kits were missing..bustamante says he

( marty ) state lawmakers want to get tough on 'so- called'- porch pirates. they are proposing a law that would make package theft a felony -- instead of a misdemeanor. we often see a surveillance videos like áthisá one... but authorities say few of these pirates actually get caught. south bay assemblyman áevan lowá and santa clara county d-a ájeff rosená co-authored the new plan. rosen says -- expanding the section of the penal code which deals with burglary ... would essentially close what some say, is a far too lenient loophole.

( marty ) in the east bay -- police have arrested a suspect in connection to last week's stabbing near u-c berkeley. 36-year-old ájose loredohernandezá has been booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon the stabbing happened wednesday in the 7-hundred block of shattuck avenue. police say -- they found one man who had been stabbed, and another -- who was hit in the head with a chain. officers believe the two men got into a fight before they were injured. ( marty ) police in alameda need help identifying átheseá two men in connection with a burglary. police say it happened last sunday in the 15-hundred block of pearl street. the suspects are described as latinos, between 18 and 25 years old. they

( marty ) also in the south bay -- police say áthisá san jose man repeatedly punched a man at a gas station. 23-year-old ájoseph martinezá is in san mateo county jail on charges of assault and aggravated battery. investigators say the fight happened friday night at the quick stop on middlefield road in san mateo county. police say -- martinez got into an argument with a person who was pumping gas... and eventually attacked him. the victim was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. the c-h-p later arrested martinez for suspected d-u-i. ( marty ) take a look at what happened to this pickup truck. the driver of the truck was in a multi-vehicle crash friday morning on hgihway 99 outside sacramento the truck burst into flames

so, come on home to what you love. heartwarming moment for an east bay family that has been hit by multiple tragedies over the years. recently, the 13-year-old cousin of the late de la salle football star terrance kelly learned that he's been accepted to his cousin's alma mater. kelly was murdered back in 2004. kron four's philippe djegal spoke with the elated family. baseball is his passion. his family watches every one of his games... and, 13-year-old terrance "josh" carr earns a four- point-one-oh g-p-a.malik carr/father- "i'm extremely proud of not only my son, but the life that my cousin tk lived." we met terrance's father malik carr and his stepmother felicia at a baseball field in the east bay... in between terrance's double header.

just eight days after learning he'll continue to follow in "tk's foot steps. terrance kelly... who, in 2004, was senselessly gunned down in richmond -- just days before he was to report to the university of oregon on a full football scholarship. he was a standout at de la salle high school in concord...nats- "dear terrance, are you ready? congratulations on behalf of de la salle high school admissions committee, we are pleased to inform you that you have been conditionally accepted as a ninth grade student for the 2019 academic year in our spartan acceptance program. oh my gosh. hahaha. oh my gosh." felicia, whose known in the family as terrance's "bonus" mom... read the good news.felcia carr/stepmother- "he's a great kid, and everything that he's getting, going to get, uh, going forward, he deserves it all. he works hard, he plays hard. i mean, he's just, he's overall, he's a great kid." nats- "hahaha, you did it. lets go!" terrance was born nine months after his

namesake cousin was murdered. the killer was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. the 13-year-old never met kelly, but knows all about him. part of his story was told in the film "when the game stand tall."terrance carr/cousin- "i feel like he would be really proud of me, and i always know he's watching down on me." terrance is a bright spot for a family that has dealt with tremendous loss over the years. after terrance kelly was killed, his father landrin kelly, became an activist and advocate for helping young kids stay off the streets. he organized a foundation in his son's name, but a few years ago, he was killed after a fight.malik carr/father- "it's been a hard road for the last 15 years, um, and we're happy, you know, to finally have a story on the news with a terrance in it that is not a tragedy, but a feel good story."terrance carr/cousin- 'when i heard 'congratulations, i already knew that something good was fittin to be said, so i told my dad in awe, and i was just really excited for my future." and, his future now includes being a spartan... and, he earned it.nats- "yo, he happy." classes start in july. philippe djegal,

for a ride down there. a look at what happens in the short term period, the clouds increase particularly overnight tomorrow morning. maybe some stray showers up there the north bay coast why did they get the sonoma county perhaps then as we go throughout the day we see a little bit more development for the ride home. tuesday morning. it's much more of a scattered shower event at that. and they'll be a little bit of a break for the middle of the week so let's put these together now to take a look at the week long forecast,

there's the traffic to get things started early in the week. all right that the parts. we have our break and then here's more juicy moisture as we get to around thursday afternoon. and that looks like it lingers into friday and then another dose into next weekend and for chase said next week it doesn't look to be as pleasant arrest. nice is it was this weekend there you can see the heavier deeper moisture coming in here and even a little bit more upstream as we start into the following week. so it looks like the pacific is open for the systems to come our way but again i've been looking at rainfall amounts and they don't particularly impressive now. however, those models are continually updated will let you know how that does come together as we get a little closer so it lines up like this were cloudy tomorrow. maybe some sprinkles something sonoma county and so forth dead in tomorrow night. and into tuesday that's will get some morning showers going on here near average on temperatures for your wednesday and then okay thursday friday kind of goes downhill again as we deal with more those showers coming in off the pacific morning. all

in sacramento, state lawmakers are calling for reforms to college admissions this is in their proposals include a checks and balance system requiring three university adminsitrators to sign off on special admissions. they also call for a ban of preferential admissions to donors and alumni. the man at the center of the bribery scheme, rick singer, was a private college consultant in california... lawmakers want to regulate businesses like his, requiring them to register with the state. ( marty ) several bay area residents who have been implicated in the college admissions scandal... appeared in a boston courtroom just friday. among the defendents in the nationwide college admissions scam is... the president of napa valley's huneeus (who nay us) vintners. actresses felicity huffman and lori loughlin (lawg'-lin) are scheduled to appear in a boston court on wednesday ( marty ) in national news -- former nevada politician

parent could ever imagine something like this would happen. jamilia land visited her nephew nathan jackson at salinas valley state prison saturday... she's his first visitor since he heard the news about his four year old boy. he has completely fallen a part.. screaming and crying nathan's son navaughn is on life support at children's hospital oakland after he accidentally shot himself in the head wednesday. after requesting that nathan be given what's called a community leave, the state granted him a skype video call saturdya night. im grateful and appreciative that he has made that offer, but it is not enough. jamilia says community leaves can be granted to inmates that are classified level one or two. nathan is currently classified as a level four inmate. so the family is hoping the governor will show compassion, and make an exceptionhe has lost two brothers and a sister to gun violence and now his 4 year old son is in the hospital fighting for his life and im asking gov newsom as a father as a man to please grant him this exception and allow him to be safely transported to

worshippers returned to a mosque set on fire by an arsonist last weekend. fire fighters put out the flames before any major damage occurred -- but it rattled the muslim community. someone also scrawled graffiti on the walls of the mosque referencing the attacks in new zealand that killed 50 people. other faith groups joined the muslim community shortly after the fire in an interfaith prayer vigil. worshippers say it's important to continue praying at the mosque. "women in american today are making history so fast that i think they cant even keep up

with how much progress they're making because it's all over the world." - belva davis was the first woman of color to work as a television news reporter on the west coast of the united states."when i started in the business i was often asked to leave news conferences" in her five decades in the in her five decades in the bay area news market working at three major television stations .. black radio and black newspaper ... she took on a lot of the early "knocks" for her gender and for her race.."i worked with people sometimes who didn't want to walk down the streets with me-photographers.. and there were other low moments ... notably, in 1964, the g-o-p convention at the cow palace.."former president eisenhower said something that set off the dixiecrats"and

they came after my news director and i.. and they literally drove us from that building.. throwing things at us."track and there are many journalism milestones ... including her reporting from tanzania after the u.s. embassy bombings there "everyday 1000's of people.." level of journalism for me"w retired since 2012, and today at age 85 .. belva is still quite active on boards and panels and at events.. she has written one book- 'never in my wildest dreams' - and is contemplating another. and she and her husband of 55- years.. bill moore .. have a bit more down time now.. they have both made history.. bill was in television news too .. and was the first black cameraman in california.. he now teaches video at ohlone college in fremont..'perfect match up.."i think it was us having each other to hear each other and to know the heart of this person is sincere.."

looking at the landscape for professional and political women today.. "these are the receivers of the toil.. i hope they know it.. there were many women who have given up so much..fought so many battles to achieve the degree of success of ability" she has particular pride in the bay area women in positions of power.. some are her contemporaries like senator dianne feinstein .. others younger ..'i tell ya.. i am so proud of the women in this area" they now see the possibility for themselves and i think there's nothing that can make you happier than knowing you belong in what you call the winning circle"and she is also in what could be called the winning circle...in 2018 ... among her many awards and acknowledgements .. belva davis was inducted into the california hall of fame .. reporting. martin heads back april 15th for a three day mini training camp with the new york giants. ( marty ) now to entertainment news -- the rolling stones mick jagger won't be singing start me up anytime soon. the stones are canceling their upcoming north american tour. jagger has an unspecified health problem. the tour was set to start april 20th in miami, with a stop at levi's stadium among 17 dates. a statement from the band says doctors advised the 75-year-old jagger not to perform -- but they expect him to make a full recovery. when he does, they will reschedule the tour. jagger personally apologized to fans for the postponement on twitter.
