(jrstone) now at 10 -- a scary experience for a woman and her two grandchildren. they were rescued from their s-u-v as it started to sink in a pond. (jrstone) good evening i'm j.r. stone.(justine) and i'm justine waldman. rohnert park police say the woman accidentally drove into the water while driving at a mobile home park saturday night. emergency crews were able to quickly jump into action and help them out.. kron4's dan thorn is live in rohnert park tonight with more on this rescue..dan? police say the grandmother

mistook the pond for the road here at the las casitas mobile home park. once suv went into the water the grandmother was able to quickly get out and get the 7 year old..but as the water was rising the 3 year was still inside..

police say the woman showed no signs of being impaired after this accident. however, they have requested the dmv evaluate her driving status. reporting live in rohnert park dan thorn kron4 news. (jrstone) on the penninsula -- police in san mateo arrested a man they say may have been armed at the hillsdale mall today. this is a photo of the suspect. police have not confirmed

whether the man was actually armed. the suspect was found at the laurelwood shopping center on the 1200 block of west hillsdale boulevard and taken into police custody. police have not released the suspect's identity. (justine) in the east bay -- police are investigating a crash that killed an 18- year-old woman from pittsburg. the crash happened around 12:40 this morning in concord. police say the driver veered off ákirker pass roadá and hit a pole. the crash closed the southbound lanes of kirker pass road at hess road for more than three hours. police are still looking into the cause... and have not released the name of the victim. (justine) police tell kron 4 news, a 63-year-old - repeat d-u-i offender is now in custody after a car crash in petaluma. police say ápamela longá rear ended a car on east washington street, injuring a child in the car she hit. witnesses say she smelled like alcohol and that at one point she tried to walk away, forcing some witnesses to take her keys and make her stay on scene. when police arrived, they determined that

her blood alcohol level was just over the legal limit. she was also found to be on probation following a prior dui conviction. she was arrested for "dui causing injury" and violation of dui probation. she was booked in the sonoma county jail dry weather will return late tonight and into monday. expect slightly cooler temperatures during the overnight hours with most cities in the bay area cooling down into the upper 40s. daytime highs monday will remain below average, tracking upper 50s along the coast, low to mid 60s inland. a cold system dropping in from the north will bring renewed shower chances from monday night through tuesday evening. rain totals with this storm will be weak, 0.25" or less. wind gusts will be 30 mph or less, well below advisory level. drier weather is forecast later in the week, but temperatures will remain cooler than normal.

teachers are planning to go on strike tomorrow. the teachers union and the school district tried again today to reach an agreement - but failed. the two sides have been negotiating since last year. but talks were stalled over higher pay. kron 4's gayle ong spoke to both sides today after they met for hours. she is live in union city with the latest. gayle. the union and district spent hours at the bargaining table today.the

(justine) in the north bay -- a 16-year-old and a 17- year-old are in the juvenile justice center tonight in connection to a robbery that happened at a high school. santa rosa police responded to áelsie allen high schoolá close to 10 last night. the victim reported two males stole items from his car that was parked in the school's parking lot. the victim said -- he followed the suspects through the school grounds to confront them. then one of the suspects threatened the victim with a gun. police posted a picture of the gun. they say -- it's a replica. police will not release the teens' name due to their age. (jrstone) trayvon martin's mother is running for public office in florida. sybrina fulton's campaign manager said she will formally announce her candidacy monday for a seat on the miami-dade board of county commissioners. fulton became a social justice activist following the 2012 fatal shooting of her 17-year- old son. former neighborhood watch captain george zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder for trayvon martin's death, igniting protests. the case gave rise to the black lives matter movement. fulton is seeking the commission seat that will open up in 2020, when term limits will keep barbara jordan from running again. miami gardens mayor oliver g. gilbert iii is also running for the seat. is reiterating his position on abortions as a wave of conservative states are banning them. in a series of tweets shortly before midnight on saturday, the president wrote that his view is "the same position taken by ronald reagan." he said that he is strongly pro-life with three exceptions being -- rape, incest and protecting the life of the mother. (jrstone) and -- hundreds of demonstrators marched to the alabama capitol today to protest the state's newly approved abortion ban, chanting "my body, my choice!" and "vote them out!"(justine) the demonstration came days after governor kay ivey signed the most stringent abortion law in the nation that makes performing an abortion a felony in nearly all cases-- unless necessary for the mother's health. the law provides no exception for rape and incest. today -- marchers said the measures have energized supporters of legalized abortion. and they say they are digging in for a legal and political

fight. governors in kentucky, mississippi, ohio and georgia have approved bans on abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which can happen as early as the sixth week of pregnancy. pregnancy. (jrstone) acting homeland security secretary kevin mcaleenan says migrants detained along the southern us border will not be sent to sanctuary cities as president donald trump and some members of his administration have previously pushed for.(justine) customs and border protection has started flying some migrants to san diego.

and another location in texas for processing because the facilities along the border are at capacity. last week there were talks of a possible government plan to send migrants who are in federal custody to south florida. the acting customs and border protection commissioner said in a statement that the agency "has no plans" to transport migrants to northern or coastal cities, including those in florida as had initially been discussed. back against criticism of an active-shooter drill, where the gunman wore a traditional arab headdress. the drill was conducted for staff at the penn-trafford school district in january. parts of a drill-video began circulating, showing the gunman wearing a keffiyeh, (keh-fee-uh)... a blonde wig and a paintball mask. the drill was criticized by civil rights and advocacy groups. that includes the director of the american-arab anti- discrimination committee who says the video sends the message that quote 'people wearing arab headdresses or muslims are suspicious.' the district says there was no intent by the district, the police department or the consulting group they used to represent any particular culture or religion. the sharks were looking to take a 3-2 lead in their western confernce finals series against the st. louis blues... hopes were high as
