in reno, left one man dead last night. just after 7 p-m... reno police were called out on a report of a shooting, at the 27-hundred block of kietzke lane. that's the ponderosa trailer park near yori park. when officers got there... they found a man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. lt. scott shaw, rpd: "reno fire department as well as remsa worked on the victim for quite a while, but were unable to revive him. so at this time we are working on a homicide investigation." police are looking for the shooter... but they don't have a description right now. the person who was killed has not been identified. the gang unit was also on scene...and police are still investigating whether it was a gang-related incident. if you know anything about it, call secret witness at 3-2-2 49-hundred. and we'll follow the story as it develops. and we have some new information on that murder at a lakeside motel last month. south lake tahoe police say two

california in connection to the shooting. on tuesday... police arrested 18-year-old tristen batten in vallejo... and ysterday... 20-year-old harvest davidson was arrested in sacramento. both have been charged with open murder for the death of dennis wright junior, who police say was shot and killed outside the beverly lodge in south lake tahoe on january 30th while trying to sell marijuana. police believe more arrests are likely as the investigation continues. and after the body of an unidentified woman was found last year in a shallow grave near lone mountain cemetery....some drawings have now been released to help identify her. deputies tell us the woman was found wrapped in a sleeping bag on march 17th of last year... along a walking trail near newridge and northridge drives. the autopsy revealed the woman had reddish-blonde hair.. and was between the ages of 42 and 71. the woman was white... and was wearing an adult diaper... size 7 asic shoes in white with

they also found aristar glasses and partial top dentures. she was buried for at least one month... maybe up to 12 months. if you know anything about her, call detective sal acosta, at 2-8-3-78-55. and some sad news to report out of heavenly ski resort... where a woman has died in a skiing accident. officials say 77-year-old kathryn strangman of wisconsin died from injuries, after she hit a tree tuesday morning. heavenly ski patrol responded and attempted life support before taking strangman off the mountain. she was later pronounced dead by the douglas county coroner's office. an autopsy is scheduled, as well as an investigation into the incident. still to come on channel 2 news this morning... the apple debate rages on and

welcome back. time for take 2... stories we think are worth a second look. well...when life gives you a winter storm - make an igloo. that's what some students at new york's university of rochester decided to do. these students built a winter home and they even stayed there overnight. take a look at this... the igloo is an impressive 10-feet high and 12-feet wide. the students made sure to include a hole at the top to vent out excess body heat - and keep the structure from melting too early. no word if the project might earn the

small homes are being set up in homeless. and there's a chance they will be built in very district of the city. the goal is for homeless to eventually move from the tiny homes to permanent housing. and - during that transition...the small homes are far more secure take a look.... each home is different and each one built by different groups -working to make the homes safe and cost efficient to tackle homelessness in the city. 12:29:53 we're not making it your problem. it's a shared problem of the city, and we're sharing the burden of it. some camps have strict rules for security and cleanliness. and things like whether to have a no drug or alcohol policy are decided by each seattle's council districts.

welcome back. turning campaign 20-16... ahead of the nevada democratic caucus on saturday... the bernie sanders campaign announced he will be visiting northern nevada tomorrow. the vermont senator is scheduled to be in sparks the day before the caucus... right after holding a town meeting in elko. the sparks rally will be held in the rose ballroom at the nugget casino resort. the event is free and open to the public... and doors open at one p-m. and ahead of his visit... channel 2 got the chance to speak to senator bernie sanders in a one-on-one call yesterday.

thanks jeff. looking around the nation... tech giant google is standing with apple... as its encryption battle with the government unfolds. in a series of tweets last night... the company's chief executive questioned a court order requiring apple to help unlock the i-phone of the san bernardino shooter, syed farook...saying the move could set a troubling precedent. farook and his wife killed 14 people in that december shooting rampage. his work-issued i-phone 5c was found in the couple's getaway car. investigators want to break farook's passcode, but first need apple to disable the phone's auto erase feature- which would protect any data about the attack. authorities say the order and request, are only for farook's phone... but apple ceo tim cook says complying would have chilling consequences. apple plans to appeal as early as next week and is prepared to take its fight to the supreme court.

looking around the nation... later today... the white house is about to announce historic plans for president obama to visit cuba. c-b-s news has confirmed the trip will happen in the coming weeks. as don champion reports, president obama will become the first potus to visit the island nation in 88 years. not since 1928 when calvin coolidge visited havana has a sitting president visited cuba. now nearly nine decades later, cbs news confirms president obama will pay an historic visit to the island nation within weeks. the two republican, cuban americans running to succeed him quickly offered up criticism.
