i wore it a week ago. >> oh, gosh. >> you have 5000 of them. >> i have 300. >> you need 365. >> you're right. once in a while i wear the same tie twice. yesterday the flags were offshore going from treasure island to the city. there's not much of a breeze. but i saw from alcatraz, 25 to 30 miles per hour. and it's really starting to pick up. and the delta breeze is in place. and we'll drop about 20 degrees today. a lot of high clouds streaming from the south. it will not be 87. it will be 68. the breeze will be the big issue. and a pretty good breeze r the a's. temperatures are on the way down. not the 90s and not the upper 60s, we're starting off 50s and 60s. when you -- i mean they're done.
23 gusting to 30 is something we see in june or july, not april. look for a cloudy day. and breezy and cooler. and windy in the hills. with cold water temperatures, fog will start to play in. 60s and 70s. and 6:01 and traffic is -- >> it's getting busier. >> we are here at 6:01. and we do have more slow traffic getting in to san francisco. this is an all day thing. the home opener for the giants south of market. and we're looking at the east bay commute and a problem on highway 4. this is highway 4 and you can see traffic is slow. i'll take that back, it's not a problem but a lot of traffic heading west to the concord area. and i want to mention a serious crash in antioch. hillcrest is closed between sterling hills and country hills and the accident will be
here for a while. let's look at live pictures, i want to mention the bay bridge. it's backed up. and today being the home opener in san francisco for the giants. that means we'll have traffic in the middle of the day that's going to be busy trying to get into the city. and later, trying to get out. moving along and taking a look at the next picture which i forgot what it was. it's maps. let's go one more place here. [ laughter ] my maps are slow. westbound 580 as you drive through the area, looks good. and look at the slow traffic of 680. 680 is getting slow so plan accordingly. the chp is looking for a driver who left the scene of a deadly crash. janine de la vega joins us from
redwood city to tell us how people can find the dollars. >> reporter: they just had a vague description of the vehicle and need the public's help. a van that was traveling northbound 101 just south of woodside road clipped a silver scion xv yesterday. the scion rolled over several times. the driver was a 58-year-old man from new hampshire. he had his seat belt on and had major injuries and ended up dying at stanford medical center. the vehicle may have been a light brown toyota sienna. >> we have no information on the van and especially with people that have dash cams if they can check their footage and see -- check the time the crash happened and if they were traveling northbound 101 hopefully, they can provide us
with good information. >> the chp says witnesses said it appeared that the van was speeding, and if drugs or alcohol were factors, at this time it's just unknown. >> thank you for that update. 6:04 is the time. and a task force is heating the east bay. the goal is to get guns off the streets. and they are looking into the recent string of freeway shootings. >> the task force is made of federal, state and local law enforcement. our camera rolled as officers arrested suspects at two different locations. and one of the men was wanted on attempted murder charges and none of the people is connected to the nine shootings on interstate 80 and 580 between hercules and berkeley. investigators say it primarily involves gangs. >> when the gangs are feuding and they recognize somebody on
the street and they happen to drive up on the freeway, some of them in repeat past have engaged on the freeway as far as shooting. >> reporter: since january, the task force has made 69 felony arrests and recovered 29 guns. time is 6:05. why did a dump truck smash into a house in sausalito? investigators want to know. the truck was filled with hot asphalt when it crashed into this house on lower crescent avenue in broad daylight, 2:30 in the afternoon. the truck rolled backwards down the hill and the driver jumped out, breaking his arm. the homeowners were inside and not hurt. >> we were reading just sitting quietly reading good books and i heard this very loud sound which could only be a truck rolling backwards down the
hill. i said to my husband, honey, a truck has smacked into our garage. >> and the garage was knocked off the foundation. looks like the rest of the house is not damaged. a recent increase in graffiti is prompts extra security at san jose city hall. the city will spend $30,000 to have security patrol the outside of the building. officials reached the breaking point monday night. this was the 4th incident in a month. this is our city hall. and to see graffiti happening here is something that we want to combat. >> if the extra security carries over to the next fiscal year, the cost to taxpayers could reach $140,000. time is 6:06. and it's time for baseball. after opening the new baseball season on the road, the giants are back home this afternoon hosting the dodgers, we're
going to bring you live reports from at&t park all morning long. yes, i want some of that. christien kafton is already on the field. we'll check with him at 6:30. the giants are coming off a series win in milwaukee. and they lost yesterday's fame despite hitting a home run in the third straight run, matt duffy, his second of the season. jeff samardzija allowed three runs. and the brewers won the game 4- 3. the oakland a's picked up their first win of the season. and a solo shot by mark connor gave the a's a 2-0 lead. sonny gray started the game after being scratched due to a stomach flu. he held the white sox to one
run. the a's will try to split the series with a victory this afternoon. that game with the first pitch at 12:35 kicks off a really busy sports day in the bay area. and then the giants play the dodgers at 1:35. at 7:00 tonight, the giants single a minor league team in san jose will kick off the season at home. and 30 minutes later, the puck will drop in san jose and the winnipeg jets visit the sharks. and finally, the warriors will be hosting the spurs in oakland at 7:30. dog owners are suing the national park service in the ongoing fight over the dog walking rules in the golden gate recreational area. dogs would be banned in some areas. the park service is trying to balance the needs of park users
and protect natural and culture resources. the group that filed the suit is asking the group to release data on dog walking and the impact on the parks. coming up at 6:30, the back and forth on both sides as the new york primaries get closer. and up next, questions over security at u.s. airports. what is increasingly seen as a potential weak spot around the country. we're looking at the east bay commute. and it's getting busier from richmond to berkeley. big changes today, increasing clouds, and also the breeze is tiburon. it's the sign of a cooler pattern. and we'll have the baseball forecast.
time is 6:12. a brussels, belgium is expected to rule that one of the suspects should stay in detention. the suspect's lawyer was in court this morning for the decision to re-knew the arrest warrant. the lawyer said it will take weeks for his client to be extradited to france. the suspect was arrested last month after four months on the run. he's believed to be the only surviving suspect in the paris attacks on november 13th when 130 people were killed.
following the terror attack, many people in the united states began to wonder how secure the airports here are. the head of the tsa was grilled by members of the senate committee looking at transportation security. he faced questions not just about passenger screening methods and about background checks on airport employees increasingly seen as a potential weak spot. >> the best practices are obvious. you have to check the airport employees. so is it your testimony that nothing has been done? >> that's not my testimony. we've done quite a wit. tsa has increased the inspections of employees by five fold. >> properly screening employees is a challenge for tsa which has grown into an enormous organization with 60,000 employees. the head of the fbi now revealing how the fbi hacked the iphone of one of the san
bernardino shooters. fbi director james comey says the fbi bought a tool from a private party to unlock the iphone. the suspect is one of the two shooters in the san bernardino tacks where 14 people were killed. law enforcement officials agreed they'd finally cracked the iphone after apple refused to help the fbi get around the security measures. a texas school police officer is on leave after video showed him throwing a 12-year- old student to the ground. take a look. [yelling] >> are you okay? >> this happened at a middle school in san antonio last thursday. the school district says two girls were arguing and the officer intervened. the student has been in trouble
and suspended previously but she says she was not fighting. >> i was going to tell her we should go somewhere and talk. >> i wanted answers and nobody could give me answers. i contacted the vice principal and i talked to the officer and he did what he had to do at the moment. those were his words. >> reporter: she was reportedly suspended and her mother says she has not been back to school since and the family is considering legal action. a man was arrested in new york. police say he led them on a chase in an uber driver's car. 20-year-old juan carlos hailed the car early saturday morning in philadelphia. he asked the driver to take him to a town in upstate new york 275 miles away. robinson became sleepy and asked carlos to drive the car while he took a nap. police spotted carlos speeding

high school makes his major league debut today. >> that's exciting. >> all the best to him. >> martinez -- now a key to the city. >> we do have a lot of clouds. it was warmer in san francisco and half moon bay than in livermore. just a crazy pattern and there's an easterly breeze in the north bay. and tiburon has a southwest wind at 29 miles per hour. the delta breeze out of travis is up to 30 miles per hour. so it's only a matter of time. and look at this. san diego dealing with rain. and it's just getting close to l.a. and this will play into the weather tomorrow, not today. i think the breeze is a bigger story. yesterday was 87 and today, 68. i think you'll notice the breeze. and there are a lot of high mid- level clouds, the fog is the tricky part.
70s and southwest winds at 20 miles per hour. 65 san jose and it feels cooler for some. the cloud cover is coming in. and the breeze is picking up. north of that it might be more easterly. but it will turn eventually. novato is 60. 58 bodega bay. and i expect that to turn southwest. on the marin coast there's a breeze coming out of the west, southwest. 23 gusting to 30. this is a june, july pattern, not an april pattern. 55 in monterey. not the upper 80s or 90s today. cloud cover will continue to roll in and the rain associated with that low starts to open up. only to be replaced by that system. the next three to four days we'll be in the soup as we say with clouds, cooler conditions, and a 20-degree drop. and also through the delta. that breeze is beginning to
pick up out of the west, southwest. i've seen 25 to 30 from the golden gate. 70s again some areas will drop 10 and some 20. especially by the coast here. santa cruz was 92 yesterday and 70 today. do you believe that? 92 in santa cruz. capitola, the beach was packed and 87 degrees. i wonder why? cloudy and rain moves in friday to saturday. and unsettled all the way to next week. >> oftentimes the warm weather sucks in the fog on the coast, and you have to enjoy the beach days when we have them. >> yesterday was the day. >> and you want pam to find her umbrella. >> for tomorrow. >> i'm going to skip out of town so i won't need my umbrella. >> we'll see ya. pro golfers are teeing off

county. he suffered from pneumonia. he had 38 singles that reached number one on the country music charts. president obama is going back to the university of chicago law school where he taught constitutional law for 10 years. he's going there to talk about the nomination for the supreme court. republicans are refusing to hold hearings or votes and say it should be up to the next president to choose the next supreme court justice. president obama will be in the bay area tomorrow to attend fundraisers for the democratic party. the president is scheduled to arrive tomorrow afternoon and will attend two fundraisers and spend the night in san francisco. he's scheduled to leave saturday afternoon. it's not clear what is on his schedule for saturday morning but he'll be in the city. if you need a parking spot in san francisco. now you can rent one.

about new york values with scorn in his face and hatred of new york. >> the upcoming primaries in new york are set for april 19th. well, the way the delegate math is working out. none of the candidates will be able to clinch the party's nomination before june 7th. we'll actually matter. donald trump plans an appearance in southern california tomorrow. and the ed cruz will appear in burlingame at the end of april. and john kasich will as well. >> we'll see candidates going to places they probably weren't expecting to have to show up. >> it's fun to be a part of the process rather than a decorative primary. >> and donald trump was expected to speak in burlingame and has not said whether or not he'll attend.
something just happened and we're taking you to breaking news in antioch. brian flores is at the scene of a very serious crash. what happened? >> reporter: we're working to get details, dave. we're on laurel road and hillcrest avenue in apt i don't care. traffic is being diverted from hillcrest and laurel all the way to country hills drive because of what we understand to be a very serious accident. it's unclear whether it was a fatal accident. antioch police are out here. and my photographer is zooming in. and you can see what happened here. a car perhaps crashed into a tree. we know it's in the median in antioch. police are investigating and a lot of damage to this silver chrysler or some type of car like that. this first reports of this came in approximately just before 3:00 this morning. we are working to get more

welcome back to mornings on 2. and later today, san francisco supervisors will be debating the sanctuary city policy. that came under fire after the killing of kate steinly. >> reporter: the measure up for debate today would bar local police from notifying federal immigration agents when someone who is undocumented is set to be released from jail. there would been anticipation for anyone convicted of a violent felony. this measure was introduced in
response to the high profile killing of kate steinly. the man accused of shooting her was released from a san francisco jail even though federal authorities wanted to deport him. the sheriff at the time said he was not allowed to turn lopez sanchez over to immigration agents based on city policy. representatives from the sheriff's department and the san francisco police department are expected to testify at today's hearing which gets underway at 12:30 this afternoon at city hall. in the meantime, the man you saw there who is accused of killing kate steinly is expected back in court next tuesday. you can expect a vigorous debate on this issue as changes are being proposed to the controversial sanctuary city policy. >> a very emotional issue. i'm sure it will be a heated debate. and we'll follow that story all
the way into the evening. a burglary suspect arrested in walnut creek. and police found stolen property in his body. that white circle on your screen in his chest x-ray is a stolen wedding ring. joel extendson swallowed it to hide it from police. he's suspected of breaking into a house on thursday. and stephenson led them on a chase and eventually crashed into a fence and was taken to the hospital for treatment. >> the doctor could clearly see the obstruction. rather unusual to find it in an x-ray on your suspect. >> that ring is a family heirloom dating back to 90 years ago. but it's back with the owners
now. stephenson is facing several charges. let's check in with sal before he heads to at&t park. >> i'm taking my own advice. i'm taking public transit or uber. and just a little bit of walking. if you're young and healthy or middle aged and healthy, go ahead and take a walk. you'll save yourself a lot of grief and it's fun walking in san francisco on opening day. let's see what we have now. we look at the commute in oakland. the a's are playing against the white house. and that's a game as well. if you're going to the coliseum. the same advice applies. taking public transportation especially with bart stopping at the coliseum. this is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. a lot of people drive into the city in the morning obviously. and then people will be driving

and rain tomorrow and saturday. brad schaeffer says a breezy 55 degrees in sausalito. i've seen gusts to 59 in tiburon. 87 in san francisco yesterday and 68 today. 88 in san jose and 74 today. the cloud cover streaming northward and look at this coming in to san diego and not far from l.a. high clouds, and cooler, and the breeze picking up is the bigger story. we went 68 today. so okay but noticeably cooler than yesterday. and for the a's, mostly cloudy. and a good breeze picking up. the temps are held up by the cloud cover. 65 in brentwood. and 55 dublin. and 53 in alamo. and 23 gusting to zero.
and oakland airport has an offshore breeze. 50 in ukiah and 25 degrees cooler in the monterey peninsula. and the cloud cover will stream in associated with this low which is getting kicked in by that low. for the next three or four days, we'll be in cloud cover and cooler conditions, and the rain is not an issue until tomorrow. and right here in the last few trims, friday afternoon and friday night you can see the rain moving in. it looks to be heavier east to north. 20-degree drop for some on the temps. and upper 70s in clear lake and ukiah. and 60s closer to the coast. not the 80s or near 90 degrees. 68 alameda to 75 brentwood. and santa clara valley will drop 15 to 20 degrees. and on the coast, half moon
