checking their credit. owner derek stevens says both were honest mistakes. metro is asking for your help finding a man they say robbed a local business earlier this month. take a look at these photos here. police say this guy robbed a business off eastern and tropicana avenue. he took the money and then ran away before police got to the scene. they say he was last seen wearing this black and red u-n-l-v baseball cap.. a black shirt with the letters k-c-c-o and red nike sandals. they're asking anyone with information to call police or crimestoppers. that number is 702-385-55-55. in east chicago, indiana.. the water tank high above homes reads "for our children".. but you won't find many children playing nearby.. instead of enjoying summer vacation outdoors.. kids are confined to their homes.. after a high amount of lead was found in the soil.
6:33 am
the lead is 10 times above the threshold limit. now parents are worried.. saying they're being forced from their homes. reporter q: "have they told you when and where you're going to be moving?" ruffins says: "no. they just gave me a voucher and told me i gotta go find somewhere to stay." reporter q: "so where does that put you?" ruffin says: "in a rut. cause i gotta find a place to stay and i really don't have no income to move around like that." contractors are now working to clean the area.. which was once the site of an old lead factory from the early 1900s. but the damage has already been done. kids in the area are testing positive for lead.. in some cases.. six-times above the safe limit. utility workers in washington went down into a manhole to make a shocking discovery.... they found children.. just 12- years-old.. living in the sewer system below the city. they lifted an 80- pound manhole cover to find toys...food.. and a makeshift bed 14 feet below the street in the seattle area.
6:34 am
the manhole cover slightly ajar in the past few months.. but are still shocked by the news. (melissa /last name not available, neighbor): "i can't even imagine anyone sleeping or living in a manhole and not being aware that was happening." butt to (ken miller, lakehaven utility district): "i've been doing this kind of work for over 30 years and i've never, never come across it before." utility workers say no one should be in a sewer without protective gear... due to limited air.. and deplorable conditions. all of the items been removed.. and the children have not come back since. jill stein may have a late start.. but at a recent campaign rally.. she was full of energy and excitement.. looking forward to november. stein says: (covered by vo) "this is the start to a revolution and a revolution doesn't happen over night" butt to king says: "look at it as voting for my conscience this time around as jill says, not voting for the lesser of two evils but voting for the greater good ." stein ran for president back in
6:35 am
both hillary clinton and donald trump.. green party members say this is finally the third party's year. stein is reaching out to former bernie sanders supporters.. saying the two run on similar ideals. donald trump is in hot water once again.. after using the death of dwayne wade's cousin to gain votes for himself. trump sent this tweet.. saying "dwyane wade's cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in chicago. just what i have been saying. african-americans will vote trump!" he did l his condolences to the family.. but voters are angry.. the tweet follows a speech trump gave just days ago.. telling african- american voters their lives "cannot get any worse. if he's elected president." (donald trump/ (r) presidential nominee) "nothing means more to me than working to make our party the home of the african american vote once again. used to be." trump's aim for
6:36 am
major shift in his campaign. but.. polls indicate hillary clinton still has a majority of the african-american community's support. "he's got guys connected with klu klux klan who are out, they are claiming him. and his record of, you know, sometimes he doesn't disabuse that, sometimes he wants to take advantage of that. and i find that very troubling." vice presidential candidate tim kaine.. saying trump's connection to the k-k-k is troubling.. this was a response to an earlier comment kaine made.. saying trump's values are not american values. as we get closer to november.. the mud slinging between candidates will only become more prevelant.. but negative campainging is nothing new in america. as gary tuchman shows us.. candidates have always played dirty. gross hypocrite. godless atheist. who said it? trump or clinton? well, neither. it was associates for jefferson and
6:37 am
jefferson and john adams. (hillary clinton (d) presidential candidate) "a man you can bait with a tweet." (donald trump (r) presidential candidate) "lying, crooked hillary." the fact is, all this name calling and dirty campaigning is nothing new. take the election of 1828 - john quincy adams.... versus andrew jackson in another political brouhaha... adams taking aim at jackson .asserting that jackson didn't know how to spell, was too uneducated to become president, while newspapers portrayed his wife rachel as a "short, jackson shot back claiming that adams had sold his wife's maid as a concubine to the czar of russia! modern campaigns have seen their fair share of nastiness too. turn to 1972, senator edward muskie of maine, then a front-runner for the democratic nomination, that is until the conservative manchester union leader newspaper ran two pieces. one article, planted by the nixon white house, accused

french-americans. the second implying muskie's wife enjoyed smoking, drinking, and cursing in an "unladylike" way. (nat: edward muskie (d) "attacking me by attacking my wife proved himself to be a gutless liar." but it was also reported he broke down and cried sending a message that he couldn't handle the heat and sending his campaign into a tail spin. in 1988, george hw bush let loose on mike dukakis (nat sound) asserting he didn't support the military and stating that dukakis thought a "naval exercise is something you find in jane fonda's exercise books." bush went on to win. and in 2000 george w. bush's campaign was accused of starting a whisper campaign that his primary opponent john mccain had fathered an illegitimate black child. his daughter, bridget was actually adopted from bangladesh. but the false rumor had its intended
6:39 am
of course went on to win. another example of how even though it's ugly -- (nats) -- it can work. gary tuchman, atlanta the miami dolphins are ready to hit their new field inside hard rock stadium.. but as football season gets into full swing.. officials are worried about the spread of zika in the stadium. the stadium is just 10 minutes from the nearest zika so as a precaution.. the entire stadium is getting sprayed down. the dolphin's host the tennessee titans on september 1-st.. so workers are working tirelessly everyday.. making sure fans will be safe. causing quite a stir nationwide.... colin kaepernick refused to stand for the national anthem at a pre- season game this weekend. he explained-- saying he refuses to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses people of color.
6:40 am
recieved a mixed reaction.. with some saying he is unamerican... and supporters saying he is brave.. showing his stance against an entire stadium. and in more football news... dallas fans are already facing a bad-luck season.. after quarterback tony romo broke a bone in his back in a pre-season game against the seahawks.. forcing him from the game for up to 10 weeks. rookie dak prescott will replace romo in the line up until he is ready to come back. in town yet -- but that isn't stopping people in las vegas from already claiming the team as their own. fans celebrated the oakland raiders' preseason game at the newly renamed restaurant... "las vegas raiders nation cantina." but for a lot of fans... it was more than just a watch party for the game. andy abboud of the las vegas sands corporation says it's an opportunity to talk about the stadium proposal and it's potential. "but i think with the prospect of the

motivated, they've found out this is an opportunity to come to one event, watch their team and learn a little bit more about the opportunities of the stadium to learn more about how they can get involved in the process. abboud says he hopes more fans will get involved in the movement to support an n-f-l stadium coming to vegas. the rebzone sports show is back! join us tonight for all things sports! kevin bolinger will be joined by coach tony sanchez and they will break down what's to come this season for the unlv rebels. at 11 following fox5 news at ten and sports plus. as crews work to get a handle on one wildfire out here in the west.... a little helper is bringing them some much-needed relief and smiles. think an olympic medal is out of reach for you? think again. one olympian is selling off his prized possession.... but it's for a good cause.
