a woman has died after police say she was hit by a truck while jaywalking. the crash shut down a stretch of a busy road. faith tanner joins us live from the scene at sunset near bermuda with the latest. faith? happened on sunset just west truck hit a pedestrian who was jaywalking acro s taken to umc where she died. no crosswalks. driver and passenger were not hurt. drivers stayed on the scene and have been cooperating with police. police didn't have a lot of information to share. but here's what they had to say about what happened. was coming from the north of the south side of the road and she was in the pathway of a truck" closed captioning will resume shortly closed captioning will resume shortly another crash critically injures a pedestrian. it happened around 3-30 p-m in a neighborhood near lamb and vegas valley. police say an elderly man was jaywalking when he was hit by an s-u-v. he was taken to the hospital... and the driver stayed on the scene. police initially had said the pedestrian had died. it was a much cooler night for trick-or-treating. let's check in with fox five's chief meteorlogist ted pretty. it will be a mild

las vegas valley tonight. temperatures will be in the 70s and 60s under partly cloudy skies. look for a slight spooky breeze 5 to 15 mph. cooler air working into the area will bring our high temperatures down into the low 70s and upper 60s on tuesday with a few clouds passing across the area. look for plenty of sunshine wednesday with a northerly breeze blowing across the valley. highs will be in the mid 70s. some showers are expected over arizona thursday and friday, but all of that activity looks to stay off to our east. we'll see some clouds at times as temperatures climb into the weekend. we're back into the low 80s saturday

together a possible love triangle that ended in a homicide. on wednesday -- moinee wade was shot multiple times and left to die in the middle of the street. fox 5s cyndi lundeberg joins us now live from the newsroom after speaking to the victims longtime boyfriend... rodney sargent says he's been togteher with moinee wade since 2012... he admits theyve had their rough patches but says wade and the man arrested... jevon hudson were not in a relationship. i have to go through life knowing the better part of me aint going to be there rodney sargent immediately burst into tears when we began talking about 28 year old moinee wade. sargent calls wade the love of his life... and says they have a two year old son named trent. he keeps saying daddy wheres

just after midnight wednesday wade was found shot near alta drive and jones. 39 year old jevon hudson was arrested for the murder. police believe wade was shot once in the stomach... then hudson stood over her and shot her in the head. she just told me she was gone and i cant cope with it sargent says he was at work when wades sister called him and told him... i had called her 3 times and texted her and i didnt get in touch wit her and i didnt expect the news tht i got i asked sergeant about wades relationship with hudson. he says the two were friends and hudson did try to come onto wade which she refused. when she worked at wildifre rancho he was a cusomer and hed come and this time we were going through thigns so they picked up a friendship it was nothign mroe than a friendship sargent says he doesnt know why hudson would

and doesnt know why wade would have got in the car with him. for now he's tryying to figure out how to tell their son trent... his mom isnt coming home. when i was going home today thats who i was going to be going home to rodney sargent says one of the hardest parts about this is imagining what his girlfriend went through. he believes jevon hudson pre- planned the murder. sargent says where wade was shot she was trapped between a car... and a wall and couldnt run. wade was set to graduate college in january... she was 28 years old. fnnll a desert oasis high school student is accused of threatening to shoot up the school. police say the 15- year-old was arrested... after a concerned parent in arizona overheard the boy's plan on skype. c-c-s-d police say a team specializing in hazardous materials -- like bombs and chemicals -- gathered evidence from the teen's house... which proved the

legitimate. police say he appeared to be acting alone... and a motive has not been determined yet. its that time of year again, as the temperture drops outside, more coyotes are coming into our neighborhoods from the desert and mountains. and they are more than just a nusiance, sometimes these encounters can be dangerous. fox5's miguel martinez valle has tips on how to avoid problems with wild animals. " as soon as the cat stopped screeching the coyote started howling" it was a howl jeff smith had learned to look out for... " they were right down in this area, about 12 from this fence" coyotes, roaming the neighborhood, and the surrounding golf course, looking for food... " the pitman wash is just down the way and i am sure that is their highway" "bridge: smith and his neighbors have seen multiple cayotes so far this year, their biggest concern, one of them could attack one of their beloved pets" " we had a toy poodle a couple of years ago that got attacked by a coyote and ultimatly died because of injuries" he has a new dog now, but that attack has kept

" as the tempertures from the summer start to cool off, we become more active, so do they" doug nielson from the nevada deptartment of wildlife says wild animals start to move around during the day this time of year... but there are a few things to do to keep them away from your home. " number one is dont feed them" dont feed them, and try to keep their prey away... the more animals like rabbits you have outside, the more likely they'll use your yard as a buffet. another tip: " we really encourage people to maintain control of their pe" keep dogs on a leash, and cats inside... smith is taking these suggestions to heart... he wants to keep his dog wolfie, and his neighbors pets safe. hospital opened its doors early this morning... and treated its first patients. there was a ribbon cutting ceremony with henderson mayor andy hafen and other city officials. this hospital is special because it has a maternity ward. the facility also provides services like surgeries... radiology... and labs. there's also a brand new emergency room... and pharmacy. "we'll open up a floor today and as we get busier and busier we'll keep opening up more floors and more wings and we have the ability to keep building more and keep adding beds here " the hospital has created more

the valley. within the next five years --the hospital plans to expand and cover more ground in the medical world. being sick in bed on halloween night isn't fun for kids... so one group stopped by a few hospitals to make it a little better. "community ambulance" gets together every halloween to deliver some gifts to children stuck in hospitals. today -- the group visited sunrise... saint-rose sienna... and u-m-c children's hospitals. "community ambulance" says they deliver goodies to people in the hospitals on special holidays. bags that have costumes in them. they will have little costumes that each kid can put on. they have glow in the dark sticks, they have games, halloween games. coloring books, crayons, all kinds of stuff ot keep them busy while they're here in the hospital." the children's hospitals across the valley say they're always looking for donations like toys... coloring books... puzzles... and board games. a judge uses a little pixie dust to give a few kids their new forever families.

it a tradition to dress up as a fairy godmother and approvadoptions -- every halloween. the families get in on the fun and dress up too. judge giuliani says it's the best way she can give a magical experience for the kids -- while also bringing attention to the need for more adoptive families. for many parents and kids... it's been a long wait to adoption day. "finally he's mine and it's over with. we don't have to come back to court no more. no more seeing nobody no more, yeah."
