6:03 am
polling places remained open past closing time... to accommodate the long lines. an updated number should be released today. we will post it to our website-- fox5vegas.com. now that early voting is over... both presidential campaigns are pushing to get voters to the polls up until tuesday's election. today... doctor ben carson will campaigning for republican nominee donald trump... at the trump- pence nevada headquarters... the event begins at nine a-m. and tomorrow... former new york mayor rudy the same place touting for trump. that rally at the trump-pence headquarters also begins at nine. also tomorrow... senator bernie sanders will be stumping here in the valley for hillary clinton and catherine cortez masto. he will be talking about clinton's plan to boost the economy... and talking about minimum wage and college tuition. the details of his visit--like when and where-- have not yet been released. people are making sure their voices are heard. some of the polling places extended their hours due to the long lines.

martinez-valle brings us more from one of the polling places-- before they closed their doors. " ahh finally i've made a decision" the last day of early voting has wrapped up and thousands of people made it a priority to get out to the polls " in 2012 we had over 50 thousand that voted the last day, we're projecting 50-60 today" " ive been working so this was the day i had available to do it, this was her first time voting and she asked me to come with her" some were first time voters, and this was a moment they had been waiting for their whole lives... " my heart is palpitating right now... you excited? yea i think every first time is a little exciting" others, like actress angelica maria, were outside polling stations encouraging people to use their vote as their voice... " in some of our countries, you vote and nobody listens to you, but here they do, so you have to vote here... " some chose to vote early to avoid long lines " this was very easy,
6:05 am
but that strategy didn't quite work for those who voted later in the day... " oh it's very long, i barely just got up to the front... if you havent cast your ballot yet... there are some things you should know before you head to the polls tuesday : you have to vote at your assigned polling location: you can find that on your sample ballot or through a link on our website. once there you just have to sign in and cast your vote, most people wont be asked for id's since they're not required... but bring yours just in case. finally, after you you take your "i voted" sticker selfie... and send it to us... use the hashtag nv election hq.... " just make sure you're taking that selfie outside the polling station, because no pictures or videos are allowed inside and we don't want to get you in trouble" early voting may be over... but this election doesn't end until tuesday after every vote is counted. miguel martinez valle fox 5 news local las vegas for more information about early voting numbers and links to help you find out where to vote
