horrifying situation. cristian mendoza, cousin: any person who ever needed anything, even a place to sleep, he would make sure they got somewhere to sleep its that very trait - cristain mendoza believes led to his cousin's death. cristian mendoza, cousin: they were good friends and the kid had nowhere to stay. a kind act that ended in tragedy. 20 year old kevin zaldana killed by the very person he opened his home to. cristian mendoza: i get a phone call - saying hey - jacob stabbed kevin. (butt to) after he stabbed him on his bed - to sleep - trying to kill him in his sleep but he woke up, dragged himself and he was able to drag himself from one room to another trying to get my aunts attention. kevins mom - ismenia - living a nightmare. ismenia magana, mom: he said 'mom mom' someone wants to kill me' but when i looked at him, he was already full of

visit our website at fox5vegas dot com. we'll have a link to the family's go fund me account. we're learning more about a domestic homicide-- after a woman was found dead in her home earlier this month. north las vegas police say 63- year-old randal mccray is in custody. he's accused of killing 47-year-old kayota washington. according his arrest report... mccray told police his girlfriend came home with a gun... and became physically agressive toward him. he told police he took the gun away... and ended up shooting her in the head. but detectives say a lot of mccray's story... didn't seem to add up. the arrest report says autopsy results... and other evidence did not support his story. he faces charges of murder with a deadly weapon. a cloudy... and mostly dry day around the valley... but are showers headed our way soon? les is here with his first look at

still on the run-- after crashing his car and killing a woman... then walking away. police say that crash happened thursday... near flamingo and rainbow boulevard. coroner's office says 27-year-old natalie bruno died in that crash. according to police-- the driver of a shelby mustang lost control.. and slid into the center median and was then hit by a truck. police say the suspect is in his twenties... with short hair. he was last seen wearing grey sweatpants and a black jacket. anyone with information about this case should call police. and as always...you can leave an anonymous tip with crimestoppers at

we now know the name of the man who died last night-- after he was hit by an suv--- while walking near the rio hotel and casino. police say 31 year old vanharris haiola from san diego... was struck last night... near valley view boulevard and viking road. police think he was walking outside of a crosswalk. the driver cooperated with police and stayed on the scene. in the u.s.-- almost 100 people die every day in car crashes. today families gathered--- to remember loved ones who were killed. it's the first time las vegas has participated in world day of remembrance for road traffic victims. "she told me that there was a crash and jessee didn't make it and all i remember is just bawling, crying that entire night with her and ever since then it's just kinda been a process to try and get through everything anne-marie ricci woke up from a coma 4 years ago... and learned her

learn more. a valley family faces tragedy tonight. after their loved one was stabbed to death while fast asleep. fox5's abby theodros talked with the victim's family today--- who says they say they never expected this twenty year old kevin zaldana would do anything for his friends - and his family tells me thats what led to this horrifying situation. kevin opened his home to his friend jacob driscol--who had been staying with kevin for a few months. early this morning ---jacob stabbed kevin to death while he was asleep. take a listen to kevin's cousin talking about what happened cristian mendoza: "after he stabbed him on his bed - while he was trying to sleep - trying to kill him in his sleep but he woke up, dragged himself and he was able to drag himself from one room to another trying to get my aunts attention." we also talked to kevins mom who is heartbroken by the situation. she told me she cooked and

who was gunned down while on duty this morning. they say detective benjamin marconi was killed... while he was writing a traffic ticket just outside police headquarters. marconi was sitting in his cruiser... when another car pulled up behind him. a man then walked up to the officer and fired two bullets in his head. the shooter got away. marconi was pronounced dead at the hospital. chief william mcmanus: "it's always difficult especially in this day and age where police are being targeted across the countyand hopefully we'll solve this one real quick and if this individual is a danger to more police or anyone else we will try to get him off the street as soon as we can." detective marconi was a 20-year veteran of the san antonio police department. a pregnant woman is shot to death in california.... ... and her baby is still alive. it happened friday night in a drive by shooting. police say the woman was shot twice in the head.

she was already in cardiac arrest. the twenty seven year old was 35 weeks pregnant. doctors performed a type of c-section they say is rarely successful. "denolf says: "i've only had two experiences of simulation, and then the third time was... the real deal." denolf says: "came out really well. i did see him earlier this morning. and he looked very well."
