vegas wanted hockey.. and we sure got it! the vegas golden knight's name and logo was revealed last night right outside the t- mobile arena... where the team will start playing in 2017. thousands we're in attendance.. and say the past 5 months of guessing the name was worth the wait. "had some awesomeness leak out a when foley walked on stage, it's real." "as we were standing there this is real this is real this is really happening, we have a team." "i mean i just can't wait for puck drop they could have named them anything i'm just ready for the game to start next year." the ceremony wasn't perfect.. there was a video glitch.. but despite the stumble.. in true vegas form the show went on. bill foley spent months trying to choose the best name and logo. this is the secondary logo.. it has swords..
5:33 am
"welcome to fabulous las vegas" sign. the colors have meaning too.. the grey represents strength and durability.. the gold... because nevada is the largest producer of gold in the united states... the red is taken from the las vegas skyline, desert and red rock canyons.. and the black represents power and intensity. there we're mixed reactions to the name and logo on tw and dave is going to sort it all out for us.. dave.. how are people feeling? here's the thing about social media... people will argue and fight about everything... maria silva is the nicest person i know... i guarantee someone out there has typed something rude about her... so of course the announcement of the "vegas golden knights"... announcement of the "vegas golden knights"... was met with a lot of snark and sarcasm. let's start with robert horton on our fox5 facebook

for rich people, and i'm poor, "knights" are typically strong courageous men, and i'm a coward behind a cell phone screen. not a fan i'm guessing??.. but taggart baranowski was.. he posted this funny meme from austin powers saying "i love golllddd" on twitter.. john ryan attacked the haters.. saying "nobody thought the "blue jackets" was a good name but can you imagine the columbus team with any other name? stop hating #goldenk but his followers shot back. saying no one still likes that name. other teams were very welcoming. the pittsburgh penguins tweeted out this gif.. welcoming us to the n-h-l.. the canadiens montreal also sending love our way.. saying "we're ready for you" the vegas golden knights already have social media accounts.. and a massive following.

almost here, but is everything we know about the so-called busiest shopping day of the year all wrong? fox5's peter dawson joins us with black friday's facts or fictions." here are some coupons i've received ith mail yesterday. i've been throwing them away for weeks because black friday is now more than just a one day "winner-take-all" "gift - gladiator" contact sport. i have 5 black friday myths i'm about to doorbust all the way to the discount aisle. myth #1, black friday is the busiest shopping day of the year. completely false. christmas falls on a sunday this year so friday december 23rd procrastinators like dave hall will be scrambling for everyone on their list. in fact black friday ranks #3 for busiest
6:19 am
myth #2, black friday has the best deals of the year. busted again. the holiday shopping season is great for video games and electronics but horrible for jewelry, cell phones, tools and especially clothing. january has great deals from all the items that haven't sold or were returned. myth #3 doorbusters are worth waiting in line for hours. busted again. target's doorbuster is a samsung 50-inch 4k tv for $397.99. sears has the same tv everyday for $479.99 a difference of $82 bucks. if you wait in line 24 hours your saving $3.41 an hour. myth #4 you save money. on average, americans pay $6,658 dollars in interest a year from all kinds of debt: credit cards, mortgage, students loans etc. this holiday analyst are expecting people to spend an average of $986 for gifts. if you only make minimum
6:20 am
you an extra $400 will you finally pay it off. myth #5 crowds are dangerous. true people have and will lose all sense of decency but over the years stores have done a much better job of crowd control and issuing voucher coupons to avoid causing shoppers to panic. also extra security is added. there you have it, 5 black friday myths busted. happy holidays everybody. love it or hate it,

that's the name of our new nhl team.. owner bill foley unveiled the name today... and so far all of our rants are not liking the name.. mostly because it's vegas and not las vegas.. and why golden knht and silver knights resonate more with what las vegas is. if you feel differently.. of course we'd like to hear from you. cox says.. golden knights for las vegas hockey team? i hope they knew that name was taken years ago by the united states army parachute team. beto says i don't know how golden represents las vegas! we're known as the silver state! i guess we will get used to the name 'golden nights'. we have a caller! i think the name of the new hockey

are you supposed to cheer for a one syllable team name. it's not like let's go raiders! what are we going to hear. let's go knights! it's stupid. they didn't think of the fans at all when they got the name.19s we're getting the other side in the kerfuffle between the president elect and the cast of hamilton.. you know by now trump wants the cast to apologize after making a public appeal to his running mate who was in the audience. yesterday we had quite a few rants telling the president-elect to back off.. now the other freedom of speech is one thing but being rude and tasteless is another. if you accost a customer coming into your place to enjoy an evening out, then you should be punished. 15 freedom of speech is a good thing but you're not there to put on a political display, you're there to put on a play. do your job and shut the hell up send us your rants to the rant at fox5vegas.com

durability.. the gold... because nevada is the largest producer of gold in the united states... the red is taken from the las vegas skyline, desert and red rock canyons.. and the black represents power and intensity. there we're mixed reactions to the name and logo on twitter.. and dave is going to sort it all out for us.. dave.. how are people feeling? here's the thing about social media... people will argue and fight about everything... the sky is blue... no it's not... water is wet... no it's not... so of course the announcement of the "vegas golden knights"... was met with a lot of snark and sarcasm. let's start with robert horton on our fox5 facebook page... saying "gold" is for rich people, and i'm poor, "knights" are typically strong courageous men, and i'm a coward behind a cell phone screen. not a fan i'm guessing??..

and 20-16... officials plan to notify owners of the problem by mid-january. if you were planning on making thanksgiving easier by buying a jar of gravy we have an important recall to tell you about this morning. heinz is recalling hundreds of jars of pork gravy. over a possible mislabel. saying it might be homestyle bistro au jus gravy instead. which has milk and soy--- and could trigger food allergies. the recall covers 12-ounce glass jars sold in the u-s labeled best by dec. 28, 2017. customers can return the product to where it was purchased for a refund or exchange. the only thing worse than bad gravy?? frozen turkey. if you're using a refrigerator to defrost the bird... make a note that it takes 24 hours
6:38 am
so if you plan on a 5 pound bird...you might be okay... if your turkey is a lot bigger...it may be too late to use the refrigerator... but there is always cold water. you could thaw a fifteen pound bird in under eight hours... just be sure to change the water every half hour. more turkey disasters... the u.s consumer product safety commission demonstrates dramatic kitchen fires... including turkey fryers...oven and stovetop fires... take a look at this video... that definitely be one dinner accident your mother-in- law would never let you live down. so be safe this thanksgiving and don't make preparing your bird hard than it has to be. before you head out to the stores early.. and wait in long lines.. you'll want to do a quick google search. this year. google maps will show you how crowded the stores are in real time so you can plan out your day ahead of times. they will also offer a price comparison
