while others were stabbed in other locations on the campus. all five victims were male, and received at least one stab wound. a 16-year-old male student was taken into custody shortly after the incident. the school went on lockdown. no word yet on what led to the stabbings. today -- friends of a man shot by police take their plea for answers to the cedar rapids city council. police say jerime mitchell began some sort of fight with officer lucas jones during a traffic stop earlier this month-- that's when officer jones shot mitchell, who did survive. like mitchell. some of them protesting -- demanding dash cam footage to be "release the footage, release the footage! "we want answers, release the footage!" we reached out to the linn county attorney's office. they say releasing the dash cam video from the incident too waterloo police are investigating an armed robbery they say it happed at the metro mart

walked into the store -- but they won't say what the suspect got away with-- if anything. police do say -- no one got hurt. nobody's been arrested in this case. tonight at five -- a vigil will be held to remember a teen killed in a waterloo shooting. the community will come together to rememer 19- year-old talasa wright -- at linn and gable in waterloo. violence affecting young men and women in waterloo is becoming a big problem. this is the third murder in waterloo this year. a community leader -- a pastor -- talks about the pain and frustration... department is getting lots of tips coming in on the two most a kwwl follow-up democrats are still disappointed in the election results across the country and in iowa state senator jeff danielson held onto his seat -- but the democrats lost control of the state senate. he admits democrats have a tough road ahead - but he's ready for the challenge. valley, gets the kind of investments and benefits from these policies that we should expect. senator danielson says he will not go after or accept a leadership position within the democratic party. he says his sole focus now is to represent the voters in his district. hillary clinton's campaign plane -- now has other uses. the university of dayton men's basketball team used it to fly to tonight's game in alabama the university says it had no idea it would be using the

airport. people continue to prtoest trump's presidency. protests happening all across the country. iowa lieutenant governor kim reynolds is calling for people to stay calm. a right to riot and we need to treat everybody with dignity and respect. she's addds the country needs to find a way to come back together. suck it up, buttercup. that's kauffman's message to protestors here in iowa. we talked with him this morning -- he says he's planning to introduce legislation that clarifies the law when it comes to protesting on an interstate. he also wants to see if schools are having new expenses -- related to the election outcome. this all comes following a protest in iowa city which blocked part of i-80. a decision today could affect the

mary did you know that your baby boy (nats continue a bit) dubuque's wahlert catholic high school choir is on their way to italy. they'll perform at a mass sunday -- and the pope is expected to be there. more than 300 students from the u-s were selected to preform, but wahlert is the only high school choir picked from the states. at least 60- thousand people are expected at sunday's mass, which celebrates the close of the check this out-- a humpback whale puts on a big show for sight-seers the 50-foot whale repeatedly circled a boat off the coast of the jersey shore. researchers say there's been a surge of humpback sightings in the area as the animals feed on fish and migrate south. "all of a sudden, it started turning towards us. i've never seen anything like that before." this group getting lucky -- researchers say you should

one man is dead after being one man is dead after being pulled from a burning home. des moines firefighters say the man died at the hospital after they took him out of the building. his name has not been released. the cause of the fire is under investigation. it's now up to the kids. a restaurant owner letting his kids decide whether to rebuild a restaurant destroyed in a fire. luigi's had been in business in kitchen fryer. "well, luigi's is my name basically, we are your babies but this is your bigger baby" luigi says what he'll miss most about the resturant -- is talking to people everyday. crashes on the road in eastern iowa -- are a good reminder to be even more careful this time of year. the driver of this vehicle is lucky they weren't seriously hurt -- after crashing into a tractor in

then a driver in dubuque county ran into a truck hauling an ammonia almost done, you'll still see lots of farm equipment on the road. "as harvest is winding down, crop. guys are still trying to move things to the river, to the activity." farmers say please slow down -- stuck behind a tractor. a manhattan woman files a lawsuit against a clothing retailer after allegedly finding parts of a rodent in a dress she purchased. the pictures appear to show part of a rat's leg sewn into the hem of the dress. according to court papers the 24-year- old says that she not only suffered emotional distress but was diagnosed with a rodent-born disease after

notice a "disturbingly odor" from her closet --couldn't figure out where smell was coming from. when she wore the dress shes says she noticed something that felt like a loose string from her dress rubbing against her leg. so she reached down to try to find it and that's when she made the discovery. zara-- the brand of the dress-- is aware of the allegation and is investigating the matter further. letting exot three lions, roam free in the family's home. a woman is arrested -- accused of endangering her 14-year-old daughter. the investigation started when she tried selling a kitten to a man for $3,000... but never gave him the kitten after receiving the money. when officers arrived at her houston home, they found three tigers, a cougar, a skunk and a fox -- plus monkeys. they said the woman's 14-year-old daughter was also in the home. she did have permits for the tigers-- but the other animals were taken to a shelter. choosing to sit during the pledge of allegiance. a member of the oshkosh, wisconsin city council refused to stand during the pledge of allegiance after donald trump was elected president. she was exercising her right of free speech and wasn't trying to show any disrespect to veterans. "politics does not, should not play a role in a non-partisan it?" she plans on standing for the pledge at the next city council meeting. work is moving along on waterloo's first transitional house for homeless veterans volunteers have been working on renovating the house. earlier this year the trump foundation made a one-hudnred thousand dollar donation to help teresa tjaden "everyone wants the opinions that we do is because of these veterans, and

that." renovations include making the house handicap acccessible. students in the cedar valley collect more than 30-thousand pounds of food. eight schools involved in the six-week food drive for the northeast iowa school bank - which just "what i love about this food community and what they can do. so i can't thank these kids enough for what they do." the winners of the food drive-- cedar falls high school, hudson and waterloo christian. a man's random act of kindness is caught on camera in texas... inspiring not only the workers at an mcdonalds but his employee as well. what looks like a regular transaction at a mcdonalds is nothing short of extraordinary. a customer hands the cashier a bill without ordering anything on the menu. soon other employees catch on
