this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. >> before we see the phillies, lots of green, katie tracking showers will make for wet commute. will the wet weather move in in time for the home opener? >> also, this morning, a car crashes into a bucks county home. what the driver does next shocks the home owner. >> more of results every brand new pole released overnight. today is monday, april 11, good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm brooke thomas. what a crazy weaken of weather we had. started with a check on weather and traffic with katie and meisha. >> good morning, happen mine day you guys, back at it, roads are looking good, nice and dry, just construction,

what we are dealing with, but looking light out there. >> certainly wet weather we are tracking, however, we have to deal with the wet weather for the morning drive t does look like this will be pushing out with time. does it get out in time for the phillies, though, that's obviously the big question. i think it could still be a little damp. but right now looks like it is the wet, actually, pretty light rain. not talking about soaking rain here. but it is enough it slows you down any time you have to contends with that, essentially widespread. most of are you seeing at least something, out there, over top of the area radar. not all of it, actually, hitting the grounds. yep, it is a light rain, you will be coming in contact with that as you drive around the area this morning, pretty much no matter where you are. 45 degrees the temperature at the airport at the moment. it is actually pretty mild morning, well, call it seasonable morning, all things considered, but as we go forward in the forecast here today, generally just looking seasonable overall by comparison to the weekend which was obviously much more dose of february than anything at the moment at 39 degrees

quakertown, soy everybody's essentially well enough above freezing that you probably don't have to worry about slick travel when it comes to icing. yep, could slow you down certainly, if it looks damp it will be just from rain showers. meanwhile the day progresses we expect the clouds will start to break, of course, first pitch 3:05, 62 degrees, clouds starting to break by 3:00. that is good news. so, we've got couple of hours to get through here, won't be shocked if the tarp is out over citizens bank park this morning, meisha, a generally speaking the prognosis is good for later today. >> oh, that's going to make a lot of people happy. okay, thanks, katie. yes, some of the camera shots, roadways looking, some are dry, some wet. depending where you are like katie said it could be slick out there. just drive careful, give yourself couple of extra moment. road are looking good. fifty-nine south at girard, looking good, few early risers out, there maybe grabbing your cup of coffee. the company you will be dealing with, look willing

actually real nice. schuylkill eastbound at spring garden giving you snapshot what it, lou i can, will also the blue route, headlight moving in the northbound direction before route one. also looking good here. again the blue route actually a lot early risers on this stretch. no brake lights going off quite yet. i wouldn't doubt it coming up. bensalem, willow grove, pennsylvania turnpike, left lane blocked, make note of that. jim, back to you. >> we could learn more today about the sudden death after local college student. twenty-two year old who attended cabrini college found unresponsive at a home on the 200 block of more head avenue west conshohocken. officers say someone in the home tried to perform cpr, but the student couldn't be revived. police removed evidence from the home and conducted interviews. neighbors in the area were puzzled and saddened by the news. >> really the only college house, we've got tone know

them, we have helped shovel their cars out, and very sweet, never disrespectful or anything like that. >> unexpected, and i had never seen anything crazy going in this general area since i've been here. >> authorities tell "eyewitness news" an autopsy could be done as early as today. our jan carabeo will have much more on this story in a live report coming up in the next half hour. >> police in bensalem still looking for the driver who smashed his car right into the front of a house then got out and ran away. it happened yesterday morning, on the 2200 block of monroe avenue, in bensalem. investigators say the driver first hit the neighbor's shed, then crossed the street and slammed into the front room. no one was seriously hurt but the homeowner says it is no longer safe to stay in the house. >> we could have been dead. but by the grace of god we're still here. >> what was wrong? >> david's wife actually just got out of the hospital right before the crash. and we're told she had to go back to the hospital because of the stress from this

accident. >> new this morning, a car goes airborne crashing into the woods in gloucester county critically injuring the driver. "eyewitness news" on the scene just before midnight. new jersey state police say the driver was northbound on route 55, in depford township, when something caused the driver to lose control. the impact ejected him from the car. >> another crash to tell you about, a driver loses control slamming into a fence in west philadelphia. police are investigating the accident which happened just after 12:30 this morning, 53rd and jefferson. there are no reports of injuries. police say it was road rage that led a man to shoot and kill former nfl player will smith. it happened over the weekend, in new orleans, when a car driven by car del haze rearended smith's mercedes. police say haze shot smith and his wife rack he will. she is expected to recover. haze is now facing second degree murder charges, behind bars, on a $1 million bond.

smith's former coach john pay tone tweeted heavy hearts with senseless passing of our team captain will smith. pray for his wife's recovery and their children. >> a new pole overnight finds americans trust hillary clinton over donald trump handle wide range every issues. clinton has a solid lead over bernie sanders in new york with 53% of the vote, she went to several churches in new york before headed to baltimore yesterday. sanders held a rally in brooklyn, ate hotdogs at nathan's in coney island, candidates battling for votes in new york ahead of the state's upcoming primary. >> meanwhile on the republican side, donald trump has double digit lead in new york polls, meantime, ted cruz added more delegate after winning colorado on saturday. trump's campaign says cruz is using underhanded methods to pick up delegates, while cruz's campaign says that's a lie n order for drum top clitch the nomination before the convention he needs to win nearly 606% of the remaining

delegates. >> meantime, donald trump slamming the boston globe, fake dollars front page as if he was the president, satirical front page aims to give americans a glimpse what the world would like like if trump was elected. including mass de par takes, financial markets plunging and soldiers being ordered to kill the families of isis members. the globe says it is all based on trump's own words, but he doesn't seem to agree. >> how about that stupid globe? they made up the whole front page as a make believe story which is real now different from the whole paper for the whole thing. >> we really want people to understand, that if we take donald trump at his word, this is his vision for america, and it is a deeply dark disturbing one. >> the globe actually sent 100 copies to the trump campaign. the phillies are hoping to extends their two game winning streak today at the ballpark.

>> it is a home opener against the san diego padres, the us navy parachute team spent part of this weekend preparing for their performance today. today, and tomorrow for that matter, because weaver got warmfront essentially lifting in today, cold front comes in it wakes tomorrow. so, i can't tell you that i'm terribly loving the way that this is initial riding on future weather, but it is guidance, not gospel. so we go with it, decent okay guide for us to get through the rest of the day. watching for the scatter variety of showers, to eventually sort of taper off later this morning, you will still find some spotty, kai word, spotty showers around, over the course of the midday. and as we hit 3:00, there is no guarantee that this little batch of showers isn't going to be a little further southeast. so we keep an eye on this radar all day long, looks a lot better later on today than it does right now. now tomorrow 7:00 a.m., you will be dodging pretty heavy rain looks like, that's your cold front, leading edge of it, once it gets through, skies will start to gradually clear and that means it will be a little bit drier, as well, in time for the next home game out at citizens bank park. first pitch forecast for the home opener.

>> starting the day on a damp note, the worse of any wet weather will taper off with time. so if you have big plans to go tailgating or hanging out at the ballpark today it does look like it will only get better with time. but yes, you have pretty active looking storm scan right now. sometimes can be a bark bark worse than the bite situation. kind whatever we have got going on here. looks like it is just widespread rain, right? it is very light showers for the most part, guys. that's going to be lingering for us the better part of the morning, but should start to clear out mainly after 1:00 today. remember, first pitch, 3:05, so that gives us window of time to dry things out, but do watch for slow travel for the morning drive. make no mistake, definitely slow out there today. southerly win flow, noticeable, we've got generally wind to up about ten to 15 miles per hour today. milder start thankfully, but still chilly when you have the rain to contend w next couple of days we start to clear out. tomorrow watching for not just showers but also, i would say, heavy rain specially in the morning as the colds front crosses, and then all clear
