snow showers off and on. over several days when you get wave and wave and wave of snow showers moving through, it does tend to add up. right now, not terribly heavy snow but we have batches of snow in the mountains and also close to the charlotte area. let's look at it. many of us have temperatures above freezing but we can have the snow showers making it down to the ground. it's a little flurry activity along 77 in pineville along 485 through mint hill, matthews, providence you are going to run into those snow showers and along 74 in charlotte. too. in the highest elevations is the next batch. newland, banner elk, pie pineola and we have an advisory in effect for avery, ashe and watauga until 7:00 a.m. on thursday. showers. really cold temperatures for everyone even if you do not see snow.

right now it is 4:18 and your average high temperature is 54 and we are well below that. upper 30s has been the rule. 40s, 40 in wadesboro and rockingham and teens in the highest elevations. 18 right now in boone and you have snow showers and plus you have the wind. yeah, it doesn't feel so pleasant in the mountains today. most of us winds from 5-15-miles-per-hour give or take. and that makes it feel colder than it is. you have a temperature in the 30s and wind speeds in the 5-15-mile-per-hour range and it makes it feel like it's in the 20s. let's look at this. we have snow showers on top of everything else. not a lot of snow. it is not a major system moving through. but just enough that, yeah, you should see snow showers and flurries and then you will be dry for a while. over the charlotte area uptown is here. if you are traveling on 485 around 77, you are likely to run

in addition to the winter weather advisory we have had a dramatic drop in temperatures. >> meteorologist leigh brock joining us in the first alert weather center. leigh, not looking like we are going to see any warm-up anytime soon? >> no, i am afraid we will wait for the spring thaw at this point. we have cold temperatures and areas about 15 cooler than 24 hours ago. so here is what we are dealing with. chilly temperatures most areas are in the 30s and we have snow showers coming through. they are fairly light for the time being but you will see those from time to time. here we have in burke county to the south of 40 we have a batch of snow shower activity moving through. and yellow gap, pleasant grove, bridgewater getting snow showers. linville, it is 10 up there and they have seen three inches of snow so far. and a batch through avery county, plum tree, you are
