wbtv news starts now. a police presence in concord. suspicious deaths. and a massive fire in mecklenburg fire in the middle of all the storms. good evening and welcome that are you here. >> we want to start with the storms that are pushing through the area tonight. and eric thomas is live in the first alert weather center. he has the latest. good evening. they are largely off to the east of the area but there are still a couple of lingering cells to tell you about. let's talk about the main batch through anson and chesterfield here in south carolina. and you can see the trailing edge coming through but the big biggest swarm and patrick and this is conditioning -- continuing to move off to the east . we have seen the lightning strikes that are trailing the main batch.
and the areas around jackson. you will be coming in in the next 35 to 40 minutes. this is part of a up seer -- upper level impulse to the east. and things will be clearing out for your morning. that will be good news for the commuters but we'll talk about the cooling temperatures i'm mentioning snow again in the forecast. >> breaking tonight investigators on the scene after two bodies were found in a home with a front door kicked in. this is video coming in and this is on rest home road near of claire month. the candidate bodies were of a man and woman and the victims who are gone to check on them. there was a forced entry into the only but it is too early to say exactly what they think. >> and one of the victims said no matter what it is a
this both parents gone -- it is a tragedy. the people had a daughter and they were parents. this is sad. >> they expect to be on the scene for hours. now to breaking news out of con concord where there is an active scene on lincoln street. one person is dead. that's where alex giles is live tonight. you have been on the scene. what have you learned? >> reporter: we have been here 20 minutes and talked to the trying to get information. what we were told five minutes ago before getting on the air that a person is dead after shots were fired in the neighborhood. concord. they were injured some had to to be taken to the hospital. they could not disclose that information. and one person is dead after a shooting in the area. no suspects are in custody.
incident at this time but it is under investigation. they have given us contact information for others at the police department who we can contact for information about this. we're going to work to get information about what happened out here. reporting live in concord alex giles. more breaking news into the newsroom in southern mecklenburg county where a fire has gutted a home. take a look this is on darby chase drive and the providence crossing area off providence road. it is tough to say here and the roof is gone. firefighters are out there making sure the spots are out. and it is too early to determine what caused the fire and the damage that was done. nobody was hurt.

have cms face the consequences of a split. >> i think families should have a choice whether they go to school, our family moved to matthew so we could spend them to quality schools. >> they say they are concerned that the children will be send to schools far from home now that cms is studying the plan. and officials are so worried they say they are ready to break away from cms and form the school district. and town officials want cms' board to reaffirm the guiding principles that guaranteed every student will attend close to home or give the parents the choice of a magnet school. and the town and the mayor will work with legislators to split up cms into north, mid, south or have matthews break away from cms completely.

of breaking news. police on the scene of a shooting on lincoln street. alex giles is working to get more information. we know at least one person is dead as a result of a shooting on lincoln street. as soon as we learn details we'll bring it to you. a teen accused of trying to join isis indicted in the murder of his neighbor a few doors down. it will speak the death pen ful ty against jonathan sullivan. he killed john clark. he was found buried in his yard. his father turned him in on the terrorism charges. he said the charges were a surprise and that it was tough
a judge, he is our son. how he was and what could have been, he will remain behind bars without bond. there is no trial date. he will go on trial for the terrorism in october. new at 11. animal control is investigating a complaint of animal cruelty after a dog tide at a home in gaston tnt. it sparked a huge response on social media. the animal care went out to pepper tree drive. officers looking at these two dogs say that they were obviously thin. the video later posted shows that the dog having a hard time standing. and that is not how the dog was when the officers visited. they did give the owner a warning. a week later the owner was on the way to the vet when the dog died. not clear about the cause of death here.
part of freedom drive hope after a downed signal forced it to close for hours. we saw from sky three it backed up around rush hour. and a car hit a pole just before 1:00 this afternoon. no one was hurt bit it took the crew as while to repair that pole. deputies investigating a murder/suicide. lancaster deputies have identified the men as terry price junior and berrack shabez. he shot price. and he turned the gun on himself when the officers arrived to his home. this very not said what led up to the shooting. and trying to budge this boat that ran aground in lake norman. the captain of the boat got confused about where that was and ended up right on top of the sandbar. this is another governor's island. this was on saturday and then a towing company has been trying to get it free.
take days to move this boat. we have information tonight on an uber driver accused of harrassing a boy in charlotte. we told you about this on friday. this 17-year-old said he got a ride from a driver in august and has gotten several inappropriate messages from the driver on his phone and instagram. uber said in a statement when the company learned about the communication they fired the driver they said it is unacceptable to contact customers off the platform. let's get back to the breaking news where a fire gutted a home. this is the providence crossing area. we know two people were displaced from the home. this renot hurt but the red cross is there to help out. it is too early to know what happened. we know it caught fire in the storms. we did see a lot of lightning with the storms.
