>> and our first alert weather radar is tracking that system that dumped all the rain on our area. this morning, the rain is moving out. >> police, members of the philadelphia police force are in mourning after an off-duty officer was killed. good morning. welcome to nbc 10 news today. i'm chris cato. >> i'm tracy davidson. a bucks county road is back open after a tree came crashing down last night during the heavy rains. this is the 1800 block of bensalem boulevard in ben sail ell -- bensalem. these pictures show that flooded roads and intersections after several inches of rain fell across our area. we have team coverage this morning. nbc 10's jesse gary is sttracki the flooding damage in cumberland county. we go to britteny. >> we saw close to 9 inches of rainfall in millville. these are soaking rains, most of
it has moved out of our area. this morning, ware dealing with lingering showers and light rainfall if you're closer to allentown. if you're in the city, you're not seeing rainfall at this time. mostly cloudy skies in philadelphia. let's take a closer look at the rainfall from allentown we're seeing more of a moderate rainfall. all seeing rain this morning, even stretching down to quakertown, parts of milford and as we head into the rest of the morning, welcomering showers is a possibility into the late morning hours. after that we are going to see things clearing up nicely. temperatures today will range between 81 and 84 degrees. we see more sunshine as we head into the afternoon. i'll let you know how long these cooler temperatures will stick around, coming up in my first alert seven-day forecast. for now, we send it back to you guys. we continue to follow that breaking news in cumberland county. a lot of people have been forced from their homes after nearly 9 inches of rain, 9 inches fell in millville overnight. nbc 10's jesse gary is live there. jesse, you've been able to take
a look at the damage there. how are things looking now? >> chris, the water has receded. you can seeç why people were forced from their homes. a total of four homes, been affected by these floodwaters. you can see how high the water still is in this basement. i've been told there's a woman sleeping in the basement. when those floodwaters came, they collapsed a wall which fell on to her. she's been rushed to cooper hospital with broken bones. i believe broken ribs. we're trying to get an update on her condition. this is all a result of the heavy overnight rains. we have terry moleda who lives here and says it was a deluge. >> flooded earlier and then it receded. we get flooded quite a bit. it receded, the sky opened up again and that's when it all let loose. >> reporter: gas company crews are still on scene, trying to shut off service to several homes where there are gas leaks.

along just fine. no delays, no accidents to report here. be careful if you are making your way out in new jersey. new from overnight, a worker was hurt during a robbery at a 7-eleven. two robbers pistol whipped a worker inside. the worker is at the hospital and is expected to be okay. this morning we're working to get more information about an off-duty philadelphia police officer who was killed in a motorcycle accident near harrisburg. authorities say the accident happened late yesterday along pennsylvania turnpike in cumberland county. the county coroner said officer seth stellfox lost control of his motorcycle, hit a guardrail and was thrown from the bike. we are expecting more information from police today. a paraplegic veteran pushed his way out of a second floor
window to escape an apartment fire. a fire broke out in his kitchen last night at the buckman meadow apartments in chester. officials said the man, a marine veteran, maneuvered his wheelchair to the window and jumped to save himself. he's being treated for injuries to his upper body. police say john corcoran of glenolden set three fires over the past few months and set up on a fire truck to put out those flames. he's being held on $250,000 bail. a 17-year-old is accused ofç helping him set those fires and is charge as a juvenile. hollywood is remembering legendary actress lauren bacall. she died yesterday at the age of 89. the movie star famous for her sultry voice suffered a stroke and died at a new york city hospital yesterday. her career spanned more than 60 years, including "the big sleep," "to have and to have
not" and "dark passage," all which she made with her husband, humphrey bogart. we're learning more about the death of robin williams. williams' personal assistant found his body on monday. police say he took his own life. they say his wife had left that morning thinking that he was asleep in another bedroom. the 63-year-old battled addiction for decades and was suffering from severe depression lately. police are not saying if he left behind a suicide note. it is another blow to atlantic city's economy. the bankrupt revel casino hotel now says it's a done deal. it will close next month after failing to find a buyer. some 3100 people will lose their jobs when the casino shuts its doors no later than september 10th. nbc 10 first reported on monday qualified bidders in a bankruptcy auction. it will honor all reservations until it closes. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist
brittney shipp. >> good morning. a few lingering showers for us after soaking rains brought us up to 9 inches of rainfall in millville. 3 to 6 inches for the rest of our area. flooding concerns remain as we head into the rest of this morning, at least until 8:30. be careful as you're heading out to work. a few lingering showers and fall-like temperatures will settle in for the rest of the workweek. we'll stay in the low 80s which will be nice. a live look at the lehigh valley. we're still dealing with wet roads out there. if you're closer to philadelphia, mostly cloudy skies, 71 degrees right now. humidity is at 87% and a closer look across the philadelphia area and atlantic city, current temperatures at 70 degrees, wind speeds out of the west at 3 miles per hour. as we head into the rest of today, we are going to see breezy conditions, especially once we get rid of the rainfall and clouds. a live look at our radar. we're seeing in the moderate rainfall moving from allentown, all points north. upper mt. bethel still dealing with moderate rain this morning, same thing for phillipsburg.
to the south of allentown, we are dealing with rainfall, too. clear conditions for norristown. if you're closer to allentown, of the rainfall this morning. that's where our wet commute is going to be. for the rest of our area be with the main concern is a flood warning that's going to stay in effect for parts of millville, egg harbor city. egg harbor under the flood warning until 8:30. we're still getting reports of roads closed due to flooding. another concern is creeks and streams in this area. that will stay in effect until 8:30. take your time as you're heading to work this morning, especially in parts of cumberland county and atlantic county. the best spot on the map is millville. second highest daily rainfall total in history, 8.92 inches. you'll notice clearing as we push into the afternoon and definitely as we head into the evening, we are going to see mostly sunny skies. as we approach the rest of your day, expect temperatures to stay
in the 80s. 83 degrees today. 81 heading into tomorrow. 79 on your friday, pushing into the weekend, we stay in the mid-80s. 5:09 right now. the last time we checked there was a problem on lincoln drive. >> it could lead to big problems if you use lincoln drive. let's check in with jillian mele to see what's happening. >> good morning, guys. we can confirm it's the northbound side of lincoln drive, shut down all because of this accident involving an overturned vehicle in gypsy lane. for now we're dealing with traffic signals that are working because of power outages out in montgomery county. davisville road and east county line road, that's a busy intersection. treat that as a four-way stop. for drivers in the lehigh valley, this is interstate 78 at cedar crest boulevard. the roads are pretty much soaked this morning. wet conditions, make sure you slow down and take your time and also use caution if you're traveling over the area bridges. we're not reporting incidents on the bridges. the search continues for the person who fired shots at a

we continue to follow the situation in millville where they had near record rainfall overnight, 9 inches of rain. several people had to flee their homes because of flooding an a gas leak. we're toll the waters have receded but those residents still aren't being allowed back into her homes because the gs leak issue has not been resolved. nbc 10's jesse gary is in millville, talking to people, gathering information. he'll have a live report, moments away. police are hoping a $26,000 reward will help find them the person that shot up this police station. the person fired seven large caliber bullets at the police station just after 4:00 a.m. yesterday. one of the bullets went through a window. nobody was hurt. a witness described what she heard. >> you could hear like a pow, pow, pow, pow. it was like really loud. >> police say the department had not received any threats but someone clearly wanted to hurt one of the officers.
investigators are following up on several leads and tips. >> we continue to follow breaking news in missouri where we have just learned that police officers in ferguson shot another man overnight. it happened around 1:00 this morning. investigators say the man pointed a gun at the officers who then fired. ferguson of course has been in turmoil since saturday. that's when 18-year-old michael brown was shot and killed during a scuffle with an officer. brown was unarmed. the fbi's investigating that shooting. protests continued again last night for the third night. this is video from monday night's protest. over the past few days, crowds have taunted police and burned and looted stores. police say they've been getting threats. president obama has urged residents to remain calm, saying they have to comfort each other in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds. we've learned that a person has been shot by police in ferguson, again overnight after they say that person pound a gun at
officers. to georgia where a gunman went on a rampage, killing two people, killing himself, injuring three others. the man shot several people at one home, drove off, crashed his car into another house, shot someone there and carjacked another vehicle, led sheriff's deputies on a chase, then shot and kill ed someone else. lightning strikes have caused dozens of new fires. officials say lightning sparked 68 new fires in oregon and washington. those storms are expected to move out of the region by tomorrow. meantime, three firefighters who were hurt in a northern california fire have been released from the hospital. officials say three years of drought has been contributed to explosive fire conditions across northern california. the man accused of starting one of california's largest wildfires has pleaded not guilty. keith emerald lost control of an illegal camp fire last august
while he was hunting. it burned 400 square miles in yosemite national park and forest. the faa is investigating the crash of a small plane on a florida beach. theç replica world war ii biple made an emergency landing and flipped over in the surf. the pilot and passenger suffered minor injuries. in nebraska, floodwaters burst into a hospital building and it was all caught on video. you see it there. a wall of water broke the windows, rushed into the cafeteria as horrified employees looked on. nobody was hurt. the hospital is still totaling up the damage. legal experts say nascar driver tony stewart could still face criminal charges in the death of another driver even though the sheriff has found no criminal intent on stewart's part. during a dirt track race, ward appeared to be confronting when stewart's car plowed into him. ward was a sprint car racer who
won rookie of the year honors in 2012. he was 20 years old. a criminal law professor says stewart could still face manslaughter or homicide charge. a cousin of former new england patriots star aaron hernandez has been sentenced to two years probation for attempt of court. she refused to testify before a grand jury in one of her cousin's murder cases even though she had been given imm e immuni immunity. he pleaded not guilty in a 2012 killings two of men in boston. at 5:17, let's get you updated on the roads. including the problem on lincoln drive. >> jillian mele has an update. >> one of our traffic cameras was able to be turned and zoomed in tightly. we can see the actual accident here but you can see we have police activity out there in that area. the northbound side of lincoln drive is shut down between route 1 and gypsy lane.

island. with that flood warning, flooding is a concern. we've seen reports. just be careful if you live in those counties. philadelphia right in you, mostly cloudy skies, temperatures at 71 degrees. wind speeds out of the northeast at 7 miles per hour. a closer look at where the rainfall is right now, upper mount bethel, been dealing with the rainfall for at least the last hour or so. that's where the moderate rain is, parts of phillipsburg heading into holland. allentown, stretching north into the poconos. it's a batch of moisture that will continue to push off to the northeast. for the rest of our area, we've already seen clearing. it's in the out of the realm of possibility for us toç see a f more showers as we head into the rest of your morning hours, even drifting into parts of philadelphia and hanging out along the shore. you can see the brunt of the moisture has pushed off to the northeast, heading northeast of new york at this time. our future weather shows that we'll continue to see the system pulling away from us. we start to get rid of the clouds as we head into your
lunch time hour. by 1:00 you'll notice sunshine coming out. we'll see plenty of sunshine as we head into the rest of the afternoon. temperatures staying below average. it's actually going to be a nice day once we get rid of the rainfall and some of these flood warnings. right now our temperatures throughout the region at 65 in the poconos, 75 degrees, a mild start to the morning in allentown. 68 in quakertown, 71 in philadelphia, 71 in northeast philly. closer to the shore we're at 71 degrees in woodbine. fairly warm in avalon at 74 degrees this morning. as we push into the rest of your afternoon, we head into the mid-80s for philadelphia, 79 in allentown, 73 in the poconos. your seven-day forecast when i see you again. it's time for philadelphia to put their best foot forward. we'll tell you what's happening today that could lead it a repeat of events 14 years ago.

millville checking out the aftermath of the flooding and first alert meteorologist brittney shipp is tracking what's happening now. let's begin with britteny. >> we're seeing showers in parts of our area. it depends on where you are. let's take a live look outside right now. if you're not in the lehigh valley or poconos, you're seeing breezy conditions. the radar will show you exactly where the rainfall is. it's coming down to the east and northeast of allentown, pushing into parts of phillipsburg and the poconos. it's mainly confined to that area. we have seen soaking rains push far to the northeast of us, moving north of new york at this time. a flood warning still remains in effect until 8:30. we have reports of flooded roadways. be careful if you live in parts of cumberland county stretching into egg harbor, all until the flood warning until 8:30 in the morning.
