the toll plaza, routes 322, exit 2, the left lane is blocked. and atlantic city expressway eastbound,er in berlin-cross keys road, the left lane is blocked. and passyunk avenue, this construction is typically out there until about 5:00, but as you can see, it's still out there causing delays. this is part of that repaving project that started a few weeks ago. still expected to be out there until september. we are dealing with a bit of a slowdown on 76 westbound. that's something that i'll continue to follow for you. boulevard looking great in both directions near 76. tracy. 5:31, breaking news from overnight. dramatic new video in from ferguson, missouri, outside of st. louis. the clash is sparked by the deadly shooting of an unarmed african-american teenager by
police over the weekend. it was the fourth straight night that police confronted those protest protesters. it started when 18-year-old michael brown was kid saturday night after a scuffle in an officer's patrol car spilled out on to the streets. two witnesses say brown was on the street with his hands raised when the officer fired at him repeatedly. here's more of that dramatic video that's been coming into our newsroom. the green tint is from nice vision lens on the camera. again, protesters in the street, tossed molotov cocktails and other items at police. the officers responded with tear gas to disperse the crowd. the protesters are demanding that police release the identity of the officer who shot and killed michael brown. we're following breaking news. the victim of a shooting at a peace conference in philadelphia has died. investigators say the two men were arguing possibly over a woman outside the dell music center last night. one man pulled out a gun and
shot the other. the victim died at temple hospital. right now, investigators are looking for the shooter. new from overnight in delaware county, police are looking for the person who shot a man in the leg. this happened along the 7100 block of radborn road in upper darby after midnight. right now, it's not clear what led to the gunfire. happening in a few hours, leaders of democratic national committee continue their tour of philadelphia. the city is on the short list to host the democratic national convention in 2016. jesse, last hour, you talked about the unique qualities that make philadelphia a draw. tell us more about that. >> reporter: tracy, it goes beyond food and fun and gets to the heart of what's needed to pull off a successful convention. as a matter of fact, i'm standing on it right now, talking about the sidewalk. let's take a look at the video yesterday. convention committee members got a taste of local hot spots but the entire city and surrounding region would be an easy area.

mostly clear skies and sunny skies. less humid for us today. plenty of sunshine to start the today. but you will see the clouds increasing through the afternoon but the below-average temperatures are going to stick with us for the next few days. a closer look at the sunrise. a beautiful way to start your thursday. for philadelphia, 63 degrees. wind speeds out of the west at 7 miles per hour. humidity's at 67%. right now, throughout the rest of the area, that's a little bit on the cold side for reading at 57 degrees. 62 in atlantic city at the airport, and we are still seeing mild conditions for philadelphia. throughout the rest of the area, we're in the 50s in the poconos. 58 degrees in millville. 54 degrees in mount holly. and 61 in wilmington. so we're seeing a big change from yesterday morning. we're down 12 degrees in mount pocono. 11 degrees cooler in allen town, 12 degrees in reading. and down 11 degrees in millville. it's going to set us up for a cooler day.
the average high 86. today we'll stay right at 80 degrees, tomorrow will be cooler than that. 79, our humidity will keep dropping. we have drier air working its way into the west. and the radar shows quiet conditions. mostly clear skies right now. as we head into the rest of the afternoon, we are going to see a little more cloud activity developing. that system that rolled through is far off to the northeast, as we see drier air working its way from the west. we'll see breezy conditions. expect wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour. as we push into the evening hours, a passing of a stray shower is expected for us heading into tonight but plenty of sunshine as we push right back into your friday into your saturday, but by sunday another chance of showers. if you're heading to the shore, looks like temperatures are going to stay in the 80s throughout the next few days. >> reporter: this morning, there's a little something just about everywhere to atlantic city expressway to route 1. >> nbc10 traffic reporter
jillian mele has you covered. that's right. still following this little blade on the westbound side, to passyunk avenue to university avenue. you can see what's happening, all of these drivers coming from both of these lanes have to merge into one, because they have construction out there as part of that repaving project. it's been happening on two different spots on 76. it's still out there right now. that active construction typically raps around 5:00 in the morning but leave yourself extra time for your commute. on the northbound side near broad street, roosevelt boulevard is be looking good as you can see. we have that construction on the boulevard near broad street but that has been wrapped up for the night. this cleared as well, the expressway with a downed tree, but that is gone. thank you. a bigoted betrayal is what governor tom corbett thinks about the show "amish mafia."

fattah is the son of congressman fattah. the congressman will be in ocean city pushing his pension reform. part of the state's overhaul of pension systems. the event begins at 3:00 p.m. at ocean city music pier. meanwhile, christie is fresh off the trip to alabama where he was showing support for republican governor robert bentley. yesterday, the governors tired research institute where medical experts are working for treatment of ebola. christie is the chairman of the republican governors association and a potential contender for the gop nomination in 2016. pope francis is in kouth korea calling for renewed efforts for peace. this video was just released of the pope addressing reporters. he urged journalists to send a message of peace. the pope touched down in south
korea earlier today. during his ten-day visit, pope francis will take part in world youth day and will beatify south koreans martyrs. and friends and family of legendary philadelphia coach dr. jack ramsay attended a memorial mass in his honor. nbc10 and st. joseph's university which overbrook. ramsey went to st. joe's and coached the alma mater. and also the sixers. last night there was a packed audience to remember his legacy. ramsey's son chris remembered his father as a man of god. >> he ran his life the last 16 years. he always thanked the big man upstairs. st. joe's planned a separate memorial after ramsey died in april. dr. jack ramsay was 89 years
old. sheriff's officials in california are defending their decision to release the details of robin williams' suicide. police say that the actor died by hanging himself with belt. some say the level of detail is too much. but the department says disclosures are required by state law. meanwhile, broadway theaters dimmed their markese for the legendary entertainer. at one theater, broadway's "aladdin" led a sing-along after the closure of the show. now your nbc10 weather with meteorologist are brittney shipp. good morning, we have a nice stretch of weather as we wind down your work week. we're going to see less humid conditions into tomorrow. sunny skies but by the evening, you could see more clouds developing even a chance of a sprinkle. and a beautiful sunrise on this thursday morning and temperatures are expected to
stay below average for us. high 70s and low 80s. but right now in the low 60s. 63 degrees winds out of the west at 7 miles per hour. the temperature trend. our average for this time of year is 86 degrees. today, we're going to stay below average. same thing for friday and really into your saturday as well. those temperatures will be a bit warmer saturday than what we will see on saturday. right now, 53 degrees in the poconos. 58 in allentown. 62 at the atlantic city airport. and 61 degrees in wilmington. the area of low pressure that brought us the rainfall yesterday has now pushed far off into the northeast heading into canada. we're going to see dry air from the west. breezy conditions, wind gusts getting up to 20 miles per hour. as we head into the end of the work week, take a look at tomorrow. sunny and nice. 79 degrees. 83 degrees saturday. on sunday, hotter conditions and more humid conditions and temperatures warming closer to
average. we stay above average as we head into next week, but nice conditions to kick off your monday. another chance of storms tuesday and wednesday. if you're getting ready to head out the door, let's keep you updated. there have been a few traffic problems. >> here's jillian mele in the "first alert" traffic center with the report. were have a minor accident on the blue route. basically the blue route past the toll plaza as it's turning into the northeast extension northbound. you can see it should be out of here in the next minute or so because the vehicle involved was just put on the back of the tow and it actually looks like it's clear right now. this is 95, northbound side near broad street. it looks like a lot of activity but basically what it is, one disabled vehicle out there for six minutes or so blocking the right lane. temporarily, as you can see, traffic is stopped. again that will be clear in the next few minutes. have an accident in new jersey turnpike southbound as you

a live look this morning at center city philadelphia. meteorologist brittney shipp says that we're in for near-perfect weather for the next couple of days. but, there seems to always be a "but" there. the "first alert" forecast is just ahead. new developments now in the casino crisis in atlantic city. new jersey governor chris christie announce head will lead a bipartisan summit to talk about the future of a.c. and the challenges that the city faces
on september 8th. meantime, nbc10 has learned that revel is still talking with potential bidders. revel told a bankrupt court judge that it's negotiating with its bidders that it has not identified. a bright note for atlantic city's economy. an air show brought in thousands of people many visiting the restaurants and casinos. no one was hurt after a wave slammed into a ferry heading from boston. cell phone video shows the wet mess. 42 passengers on board along with the crew. and they say a wall of water just crashed into the ferry. >> sitting right in the front where the window was, when the water hit. and it was just like this huge green sheet of water. and, boom. and then water started to go to the ceiling. >> the u.s. coast guard sent
help but the ferry managed to restart one engine and dock in boston on its own power. some customers are questioning the security at walmart after a runaway teen was discovered in texas. store employees discovered the 14-year-old living in boxes he carved out along the aisle of the store. reports say the teen pilfered food and drinks and changed clothes to avoid being found for two days. police say the boy was visiting his aunt when he ran away last night. also in texas, an adventure just before the first day of school. sheriff's deputies were called to handle this gator hanging outside of a junior high school near houston. the deputies lassoed the critter and had a little bit of a tug-of-war. some a little bit too close for comfort. >> to think it was over there and now it's here. it could come into our house. >> i'm hoping that it doesn't come back for the school year and scare everyone.
>> right. the lead deputy said this is the third gator he's captured since his time on the job. >> happening today former nfl player aaron hernandez is expected in court for the pretrial hearing for the deadly drive by shooting of two men in boston. this is video of hernandez in court this week. giving both sides time to prepare for the trial set for next may. hernandez is also facing murder charges in a separate killing. he's pleaded not guilty in both cases. another college football player has announced he's gay. arizona state edward chip seraphim made the announcement in the magazine call the compete. you'll remember former missouri player michael sam did not come out publicly until after last year's season. the dragons in philadelphia will have to wait one more day to take the field in the little
league world series. there they are in the back of the truck. one player got a lot of attention, of course. star pitcher mo'ne davis. she's the first girl in years to play in the tournament. the team got in practice. we're talking about practice, players in the cage getting ready for tomorrow's matchup. and davis is staying humble and making sure that everyone knows is this a team effort. >> i'm kind of tired of hearing it because it's not just about me, it's about the whole team. and if it wasn't for the team, i don't think we'd be here right now. so people are just like excluding -- it seems like people are excluding the team and just worrying about me when it's actually the whole team who had a part in this journey. >> i'm telling you, she's so poised. the first pitch for tomorrow's game against nashville set for 3:00 p.m. nbc10 will bring you coverage from the little league world series in williamsport.
