chance of isolated showers. i'll go over the details of that coming up. my first alert seven-day forecast, in just a moment. first, a look at traffic with jillian mele. >> bucks county, route 1 near route 32. not too many issues out there, no accidents to report on route 1. certainly no delays. that is good news there. same situation on 95 right by the philadelphia international airports. 95 just outside of the airport is clear right now. let's talk about septa. everything is on or close to schedule this morning which is good. if you ride any of the septa trollies, the last few weeks they've been doing a project, the trolley tunnel in the area. as a result, route 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36 have been diverted to 40th and market while that tunnel was closed. it's part of the septa trolley tunnel blitz. this morning, normal service has resumed. that's good news for trolley riders. we have one problem to tell you about in jersey.

south brunswick, a vehicle fire. we're told two lanes are blocked there. one lane of traffic is going to get by. chris? >> new from overnight, crews had to rescue two men on jet skis. that happened around 11:00 a.m. on the 2700 block of bayshore avenue. no word yet on how they became stranded. >> happening today in philadelphia, jury selection beguns in the criminal trial of a woman charged withç kidnappi a 5-year-old girl from her school and sexually assaulting her. nbc 10's jesse gary is live outside the criminal justice center in center city. jesse, you spoke with the defense attorney late last night. he thinks someone else should be facing charges. tell us about that. >> reporter: fred harrison says several people are the true culprits and should be charged in this case. he concedes he won get a chance to make that argument during jury selection which begins in a little while. let's take a look at the video. 1-year-old christina regusters is charged with a long list of

crimes for allegely taking a 5-year-old from her school last year. harrison doesn't concede his klein the is guilty of anything. he wants to weed out people who want to be on the jury for the notoriety or those who want to avoid it because they don't want to be tied up for the time this jury is expected to last. live in center city, jesse gary, nbc 10 news. wikileaks founder julian assange will soon leave the ecuadoran embassy he says. that's inland done. assange on the right is reportedly ill. he will leave to seek medical treatment. he's been investigated by u.s. authorities since wikileaks published leaked documents in 2010. he was granted asylum in 2012. he's facing an arrest warn the in sweden over allegations he

sexually asauled two women there. assange will likely be arrested the moment he leaves the embassy. representatives from revel are scheduled to appear in bankruptcy court. revel will present new closing dates to a judge. last week aannounced it will close the hotel on september 1st and the casino will shut down september 2nd. this all comes after the casino could not find a buyer after file for bankruptcy for a second time. revel is one of three atlantic city casinos set to close in the coming weeks. the show boat will shut down on august 31st. trump plaza will be closed on september 16th. that means about 8,000 people without jobs this week. a two-day job fair will be held. a maryland casino is hosting this job fair at the sheraton convention center. it will take place tomorrow from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. and wednesday from 8:00 to 1:00. the camden county police

drop below average. let's get back to the breaking news out of ferguson, missouri. governor jay nixon ordered the national guard to ferguson. this decision coming hours after police again used tear gas to clear protesters off the streets after the protesters threw molotov cocktails. jay gray has been covering the unrest in ferguson. a lot of people saying last night's clashes were the most violent yet. >> yes, chris, it would be hard to argue with that. we know there were at least eight people in the crowd with guns, at least tw or three injured by gunfire. as you talked, governor jay nixon ordering the national guard in to help restore the peace after another difficult, very dangerous night here. the chaos unfolded hours before the curfew took effect in ferguson. with armored vehicles, officers in riot gear rushing in.

>> i had no alternative but to elevate the level of our response. >> police used smoke canisters and tear gas to try and gain control of what they describe as a very dangerous situation. >> shots being fired on officers. a number of molotov cocktails being hurled and then the looting or vandalism of businesses. >> early reports indicate two or three people were injured by gunfire, none of those shootings parentally involving police. at least four businesses were damaged and looted. for the first time, the violence stretched to just outside the police command post here. the call went out for every available officer to rush back to the area, with shields, batons and wearing gas masks, others undrawn. as another night of violence was

unfolding, attorneys release this sketch from a private autopsy by a doctor hired by the brown family. it shows the 18-year-old was shot six times, adding to the heartache, frustration and anger for a family and community already seemingly pushed past its limits. the brown family and the doctor who performed the autopsy both expected to speak for the first time publicly a little bit later this morning about those results. that is the latest, live here in ferguson, i'm jay gray.ç chris, back to you. president obama returned from his vacation early. the president is scheduled to have meetings at the white house today and tomorrow. today's meetings will cover the iraq military operation and the situation in ferguson. he's scheduled to return to martha's vineyard on tuesday and stay for the rest of the week. this weekend in iraq, kurdish forces are back in control of this country's

14 minutes past 6:00. 62 degrees in philadelphia. a live look at the comcast center. nbc 10 meteorologist brittney shipp says humidity and storms back in the forecast. find out when in just minutes. a confessed hitman behind bars for killing a rabbi's wife will be released from jail later this year. paul michael daniels is scheduled to be released october 31st. he spent more than 14 years in prison for aggravated manslaughter. two men testified they killed carol newlander back in 1994 on orders from her husband, a rabbi. he was convicted of murder and is serving a life sentence. pennsylvania state police are warning about a phone scam. the owner of the gravel pike inn in perkiomen township was scammed out of $1,500. she got a call claiming that peco would shut off her power unless they were paid within the

hour. anyone who gets a similar call should call peco first. the collision caused two cars to catch fire yesterday morning. one was carrying diesel fuel, the other alcoholic beverages. it took seven hours to put out the fire. hundreds of people had to leave their homes but this he have been allowed to return. an experienced skydiver died during a jump in mass mis. police say the man hit the ground hard yesterday morning. authorities say his parachute was open during landing but they're working to see if it opened too late.,5"yrr project the look of the philadelphia skyline is on hold. yesterday workers took down 3 of the 12 pnb letters which stood atop one of the tallest buildings for 60 years. the 16-foot tall letters which weigh more than 3,000 pounds each were detached and lowered

brittney shipp to find out what's ahead. >> we'll see a nice start to your workweek, plenty of sunshine and nice conditions. temperatures range between 81 and 84 degrees. there's a beautiful sunrise over the street. you can see barely a cloud in the sky. high pressure will stay in control. we have a chance of showers closer to dover. 81 to 84 degrees. if you're at the shore, 78 degrees today. and nice conditions expected. closer to showers move into the forecast by tuesday. by wednesday, a chance of thunderstorms. let's check in with jillian for a look at traffic. we're still following this fire location in lower pottsgrove, buchert road between laurel way and north pleasantviewç road. as soon as we have more we'll pass it along. this is 95 near cottman avenue.

both directions of 95, clear right now. we are starting to see con jeg as we head farther south near girard avenue. also dealing with volume building on the 42 freeway, northbound as drivers pass creek road and head out to the bridges. bridges are clear but we still have a truck fire causing problems in south brunswick. the right lane is still blocked in that area. tracy? >> we have breaking news out of ferguson after the most violent night of protests so far. here's what's new this morning. the national guard has been called in. the governor says it's in response in part to what happened last night there. partially a coordinated attempt by the protesters to block roads and overrun the unified command center. also new, school is canceled again because of the violence. while you were sleeping, officers used smoke and tear gas after protesters fired at police and threw molotov cocktails at that command center. the head of the highway missouri

positive -- patrol had no choice. >> the day took a very different turn after dark. molotov cocktails were thrown. there were shootings. looting, vandalism and other acts of violence. >> there has been a week of demonstrations, some of them violent against michael brown. attorney general eric holder offered a federal medical examiner to perform another autopsy on brown. the 18-year-old was unarmed when he was shot to death by a while police officer. a private autopsy found he was shot at least six times. and this protest was in our area, about two dozen people staged a protest inside cherry

hill mall. many of the protesters were graduates and students from rowan, rutgers and stockton. they tell nbc 10 the peaceful protest was organized on social media. jury selection starts in just a few hours in the trial of a west philadelphia woman ayou kood of kidnapping a 5-year-old girl from her school and sexually assaulting her. nbc 10's jesse gary is live outside a criminal justice center in center city. you've been talking to the defense attorney representing christina regusters. he explained how the jury selection process will work. >> there are two parts to this process. the latter part focuses on bias in reaching a decision. let's go ahead, take a look at our video. i talked to her attorney late last night and fred harrison says the judge will try to get the pool of perspective panel members down to so-called clean jurors, people who can make decisions without bias.

the suspect is described as thin, 6 foot tall, wearing a black shirt, white pants with red markings and a black hat. happening today, trial is scheduled to begin in bucks county for an accused serial rapist. josh benson is charged as an adult with seven rapes. he preyed on girls ages 14 to 17 prosecutors say, forcing them into sexual activity after meeting them online. if he's convicted of all of the charges he could be sentenced to more than 80 years in prison. septa is expected to decide whether to give the board chairman authority to approve and ratify the contract for ibew which represents electrical workers. the union went on a one-day strike back in june along with regional rail engineers. there's still no deal with the engineers union. they made it tough to go to sleep last night. it was a wild finish for the taney dragons.

the team from philly took down a texas team. nbc 10's katy zachry is live in center city with more on that exciting game and what's next for these dragons that have just really taken philly by storm, ka katy. >> reporter: people love watching this, teams cheering them on. they are just kids but are quickly becoming philadelphia's next sports heroes. this is what it feels like to follow a winning team. the cheers for philadelphia's taney dragons came from city hall last night at a watch party hosted by mayor michael nutter. >> this mayor, these are all my children. when they're out there doing my thing, i am electrically happy. >> reporter: the whole city is happy and proud, especially after the dragons' narrow win over texas last night. things started off in their favor. by the fifth inning, the dragons were down and you could see how

crest fallen fans were at home. then a surprising come-from-behind win. the drags are two ones away from the championship game after winning 7-6. >> we think this is the world series. >> that's the best team philadelphia could have produced. we're going all the way. >> we're standing next to one of the fields they played on during the regular season. a far cry from the stadium-like setting we're experiencing in williamsport. they put out yesterday that the fan base yesterday, the crowd, was over 31,000 people. so a very far cry from the bleacher-like seating they in this neighborhood. wednesday at 7:30, star pitcher mo'ne davis will take the mound.

pressure stays in control. we're barely seeing clouds in our region with the exception of the area of low pressure that will transition closer to us. it's heading closer to our area by this evening. the thing is, it will stay mainly to the south. we notice clouds increasing for parts of delaware, heading into cumberland, cape may county. we approach tomorrow, we cheap a slight chance of showers in the forecast for our entire region. temperatures again staying in the low 80s and then if we need into wednesday, more humidity expected. showers, another chance of storms on thursday. our temperatures warm back to the mid-80s. humidity is going up and as we head into the end of your workweek, take a look at what happens. less humid, we're clearing up and temperatures drop back down to the low have. >> that's nice, britteny. weather is shaping up. let's show how traffic is going this morning. >> we go to nbc 10 traffic

reporter jillian mele. >> we still don't have accidents on the majors although volume is starting to build. we're following this fire in pottsgrove. take pebble beach lane as an alternate. i have a couple listed here. this is 76 at the conshohocken curve. we get pockets of volume but no significant delays to report. that's the eastbound side as drivers pass conshohocken and head into center city near city avenue, eventually into center city philadelphia. for drivers in the lehigh valley, 22 at airport road is looking good right now. our only problem for drivers in new jersey is still in south brunswick. it was a truck on fire. it's since been extinguished. the right lane is still blocked, route 1 can get congested at times out there. make sure you leave yourself a few extra minutes. for drivers in delaware, normal delays on the majors.

sky force 10 always patrolling for breaking news. skyforce 10 is on its way to an apartment fire in lower pottsgrove. just in the past ten minutes we learned new information about that fire. we learned that it's two alarms and the fire is limited to one building of that apartment complex. we've also learned no one has been hurt at this point. the fire is still burning, a very active situation. nbc 10's matt delucia is on board skyforce 10. the gps says it'sç about five mountains out from the pottsgrove location. this video prompting a lot of disgust, a park ranger attacked and beaten by a group of skateboarders in this park.

a philadelphia park ranger was violently attacked about i a group of skateboarders. video of this attack has gone viral and is prompting a lot of outrage in the community. a witness captured the video friday night in love park. police say a ranger approached a group of skaters and skateboarding is not allowed. you see what happened. things escalated and one of the teenagers munched the park ranger. someone in that group was videotaping the attack the entire time. >> it's just brute. it's actually disgraceful. you have a man trying to do his job. >> that was the man that took the cell phone video of the attack there. other skateboarders we spoke with are upset by it, saying this makes them all look bad.

eighth grade students help start the new school year with an opening celebration. more than 1,500 students are enrolled at the east philadelphia preparatory school. so far, more than 400 acres of forest in los angeles county have burned. camp grounds are evacuated. some roads are closed. crew are fighting the fire from the ground and air. steven and nicole, arrested and charged on friday with kidnapping a 7 and 12-year-old amish sisters. the da.a. said the girls were sexually assault ed. fred miller went to the home of two relatives taking care of

his little girl. he shot those two people, investigators say. they are in critical condition. he then took off with his daughter. miller was killed during a shootout with police. rebel fighters who want to become part of city have held luhansk for the past four months. focus now is on a timetable for a durable cease-fire and who will control areas along ukraine's border with russia. a new report on hunger in america finds that some of the hardest hit are the men and women who protect and serve our country. the charity feeding america finds that 25% of active military families need help from food pantries and other programs, so do veteran families. experts say some reasons are low pay for active members and living off low disability pay for retirement funds for vetera

board skyforce 10. bring us up to speed again. >> reporter: we're over the scene here. we'll give you a look live where we see some of the firefighters on the roof of this building. this is at buxt.ç c this is at buchert road in lower pottsgrove. we're going to the front of the building where we can see a lot of activity at this part of the structure. we have not seen any flames or at least any large flames within the past few minutes. the firefighters right there on that top floor there, trying to attack this and trying to make sure this fire does not spread, that the smoldering embers do not flare up once again. we understand there are no injuries. two units are on fire.

i'm matt delucia live in skyforce 10. over the scene of an apartment fire in lower pottsgrove. this is at buchert road and laurel way. the firefighters are still tackling this, the hot spots up here. they've really been focusing on the roof and also the second floor of this structure. this has been burning for about an hour now. at this point we see that white smoke. we have not seen any flames. no injuries reported. we'll keep an eye on this. the good news is the neighboring properties don't appear to have too much damage. there is traffic troubles in this area. for you, live in skyforce 10, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. trial gets under way for jury selection for a woman accused of kidnapping a 5-year-old girl, taking her out of her school and later sexually assaulting her. jesse gary is live in center city. >> reporter: fred harrison says
