rain in delaware. extreme northern delaware new castle county seeing snowfall for wilmington. and that extends into chester county right now. and look at the snow falling in philadelphia into burlington. and even atlantic county to the south is seeing snow. the snowfall is not going to last. the temperatures will be climbing. and the areas that are seeing snow for the most part are above freezing. the only exception being the mountains where it's 27 degrees. so not expecting to see any accumulation, but you'll see flakes to start with on a monday morning. but that sometimes happens when it is dry. cloudy skies to start with and the clouds hang with us through the morning hours. 42 degrees with a windy condition at 9:00. and some scattered light rain showers moving through at noontime. by then 48 degrees. we'll go through the day hour by hour with the future weather when i'm back in ten minutes. but right uhi'll check with christine maddela. good morning christine. >> we are seeing precipitation

on our roads and traffic cameras depending on where you are you could see wet roads and the flurries bill was talking about. so watch out as you make your way through the area. there could be some slippery surfaces out there. taking a look at 295 in mount laurel. look at this white stuff. this is in the pocanos here along interstate 381 mostly sticking to the grassy surfaces. so we are not seeing anything sticking to the roadway. just be careful making your way around because whenever there's precipitation, it could be slick on the roadways. but right now your drive times, everything is in the clear on 95, 76 and the blue route. chris? all right. christine, we have new information about a falls township police officer injured during a traffic stop. that officer had pulled over a car for speeding on route 1 north. as the officer was interviewing the driver another vehicle rear-ended the officer's patrol car pushing it into the car that the officer pulled over. one person inside that car was injured. and the officer was knocked to the ground. >> we are very lucky that our

officer is has minor injuries that he does. this is a very bad highway for us. we do a lot of enforcement here and it is very common that vehicles are traveling 100 miles plus. >> the officer usually has a canine but left the dog at home because his suv was broken down and he had to take another car. they say if the canine had been in the backseat the dog could have been killed. and one person was killed in the late night crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car in burlington county. this is video from a traffic camera over i-295 in mount holly. two lanes were shut down as police investigated but those are back open this morning. and a philadelphia taxi driver is in custody this morning on suspicion of dui after leading police on a car chase. here's what happened police tell us they saw the driver asleep in his taxi along delaware avenue. when they tried to wake him up he didn't respond and they broke the glass to get him to wake up. then he drove across the platte bridge the wrong way and back eventually crashing into a fence on columbus boulevard.

he was taken to the hospital for a cut on his head. and overnight fire forces a family of six out of their home in camden. the fire broke out in the attic of the house on high street around 12:30 this morning. firefighters had the plane under control in a half hour. no one was hurt and the cause is under investigation. and today federal investigators are expected at the scene of a plane crash in chester county that killed two people. the small plane went down yesterday afternoon near saunders lane about two miles from brandywine airport where it took off. matt delucia is live on the scene. you have been looking into the safety record of the plane involved. tell us what you found. >> reporter: yeah tracy, this is an example of the piper pa-28 involved in the crash here in west goshen yesterday. now the investigators will try to figure out exactly what caused this particular crash, but i've learned that the planes are no stranger to crashes. i looked up some information within the past 30 minutes from the aviation safety network, and

i found that this is the fifth incident involving a piper pa-28 in the u.s. this month. in fact, another pa-28 that was the same model was involved in a crash yesterday in virginia that killed a student pilot. now witnesses here in west goshen described to us hearing strange noises. they heard the small piper single-engine plane sputtering before it took a nosedive into the woods. now the plane took off from brandywine airport and crashed moments later. there were two men in the plane, both were killed. and one of them lives in west goshen. >> the airplane is taking off, but it's shocking as something like this happens this close to home. >> reporter: right now back out here live you can see the scene still has yellow tape around it. and police are guarding the area until the ntsb investigators return later today. now the identity of the victims

has not been released until family members are notified. live in west goshen chester county, matt delucia, "nbc 10 news." all right. if you have the "nbc 10 news" app, you were one of the first to know about the plane crash yesterday. you can download it free and we'll send you breaking news alerts as we get information on the victims and a cause of the crash. five minutes after 5:00 delaware county authorities expect to file charges this morning in the off-duty shooting death of a darby borough police officer. 26-year-old mark hudson was shot in the chest with his own service revolver inside his home in darby township on saturday. now investigators questioned hudson's girlfriend who was at his home at the time of theed shooing. and sources say the couple had a history of domestic problems. friends and family are mourning the loss of a man they call a true public servant. in addition to his full-time job as a police officer, hudson was also a volunteer firefighter. >> he's everybody's friend. he's got this infectious smile and is goofy and just if unto be

around. >> sources say after questioning hudson's girlfriend, hay took her to the hospital for an unrelated medical issue. the police chief says hudson's girlfriend was supposed to be arraigned overnight on charges of a previous domestic incident and is still waiting for confirmation. opening statements scheduled in the corruption trial of six philadelphia narcotics officers. the prosecutors say the former officers beat up drug dealers robbing them of crash drugs and selling some of the drugs. the alleged ringleader is thomas liciardello accused of dangleing one man over an 18th floor balcony. the victim's criminal backgrounds make them unreliable. all six have pleaded not guilty. a prominent bucks county family at the center of a $20 million insurance fraud scheme will face the judge today. the judge will determine if there's enough evidence to send claire risoldi and three relatives to trial. she's the mastermind of the

insurance scheme that financed an extravagant lifestyle involving three fires. the family's mansion has had three fires and her husband killed himself after he was arrested. and students say they will walk out of class following a nude photo scandal. someone posted inappropriate pictures of girl students along with the girls' names on a file sharing website. a twitter account set up by students called for a walkout later this morning. organizers want to show support for the girls violated and they mean no disrespect to the school. but the school district says it is investigating the photos. and a preliminary hearing is set today for this man. 73-year-old bernard rivas is a licensed counselor accused of groping a 14-year-old girl at his home office. investigators say the teen was able to secretly record rivas two times. authorities charged him with child endayment and indecent assault. we have an update on the

peeping tom store in abington county. the police say they caught the suspect after a woman reported someone spying on her in a dressing room at the store on old york road. yesterday the woman told us that investigators told her that the man went back to the store on saturday to do the same thing to another woman and target employees called 911 and police caught the guy. they have yet to release his name. it's a rainy and snowy start to this monday. we are tracking rain and snow showers, but they are not going to last. they will be clearing out this afternoon thanks to gusty winds that will be kicking in. but another round of rain for tomorrow. so keep the umbrella handy. you may need the umbrella. if you are leave right now, there's some rain in the area. but currently reading, philadelphia and wilmington saw the snow to start with. right now we are dry, just a mix of cloudy condition ss here.

but this is a live view from camel camel camelback where the snow is tapering off. the snow is pushing to the east. just a rain/snow mix in philadelphia and into new jersey. farther to the south, it's only rain. and later this morning, these showers will be out, but there's a chance for more showers. those will only be rain, however. by 9:00 the first round along the coastline is where we'll watch this area of shower activity move in from the north and west. at 10:00 this morning, moving toward reading and allentown at that hour. then going into the noontime hour you might see some scattered light showers in philadelphia. trenton and wilmington that line keeps on moving and blows through the area with winds gusting to 30 miles an hour by 2:00 this afternoon with the showers right along the coast. the forecast is falling for umbrellas at times, but certainly not going to be a steady or heavy or all-day rainfall or snowfall for that

matter. showers end this morning with the light scattered showers early this afternoon, gusty winds through the day today. high temperatures in the 50s today. anywhere from 54 to 58 degrees this afternoon. but rain is ahead and some cooler weather before we get a warm up. the seven-day forecast when i'm back in ten minutes. all right, bill. see you in a few minutes. ten after 5:00 there's a problem on 76 you should know about. >> the first alert traffic reporter christine maddela just alerted us to this problem. did this accident just happened? >> yes just in the past five minutes. we can see it here on the traffic camera. this is the schuylkill expressway westbound right at spring garden. you can see emergency vehicles showing up to the scene. this fire truck just arrived. there's also police vehicles on the scene. this crash is taking out the two right lanes here. so traffic is just getting by slowly, even though there's not a lot of volume it's causing a backup as you can see there in the left-hand lane. watch out for this at spring garden. i'm going to keep an eye on that. so we'll check out your drive times on the schuylkill expressway. it's still looking pretty good

overall at the conshohocken curve and it's not affecting your drive time right now between the blue route and the vine. but i'm going to keep an eye on that to see if more delays increase out there. elsewhere, we are seeing a wet commute. we are seeing some wet roads on the interstates, so just be on the lookout for that. tracy? christine, thank you. food truck safety. nine months after a deadly explosion, philadelphia's city council is taking action today to try to minimize the danger. and the germanwings plane crash prompts changes to protect passengers. the new safety rules in one part of the rule plus the latest efforts to bring closure to the families of the victims.

at 5:14 there's a picture of the snow at camelback coming down. and it is not just in the pocanos. we have seen a few flurries outside our studios. how long will the snow and flurries last? meteorologist bill henley will be back with the first full alert forecast in three minutes. australia has become the latest country to adopt the latest rule to require airlines to have two crew members in the cockpit at all times. this comes in the wake of the germanwings crash. officials are trying to locate the second black box from the airbus a320. helicopters threw near the french alps this weekend. on sunday dna testing had begun to identify the remains they

recovered so far. meantime, people in the hometown of the co-pilot andreas lubitz held a memorial service for the victims. it appears he intentionally crashed the jet killing 150 people onboard. he hid an illness from his employer and the german newspaper sunday claimed that lubitz had vision problems and ongoing relationship issues. after three days of searching, the bodies of two missing men were pulled from the rubble of a new york city building. authorities believe the men were inside the ground floor restaurant at the time of the explosion. one of them worked there. 22 others were injured in thursday's explosion. the investigators believe it was caused by an improperly tapped gas line. the red cross is helping seven people forced out of their home after a fire tore through a philadelphia apartment complex. investigators are still looking for the cause of yesterday morning's fire on east ashmead street in east germantown. one man suffered smoke

inhalation but is expected to be you can to. in north philadelphia a popular bakery has some serious damage to contend with. officials say fire started in the basement of denise's delicacies on north 22nd street early yesterday morning. the fire did not spread to the apartments above and no one was hurt. and it is 5:16. happening today, leaders in philadelphia will start a new push to make food trucks safer following an explosion last summer. the blast killed a mother and daughter. today city council members will hear new testimony on a bill to claw for regular inspections of food trucks including checking on propane tanks, which have not been done before. last fall several council members tried to get a food truck bill passed but it didn't make it through council. and also today, philadelphia's city council will hold a hearing on a bill to target vehicle owners who have been evading the parking authority and the towing system. the issues revolve around drivers who don't register vehicles or have illegal up-to-date license plates. when the cars get a ticket the

officials can't reach the opener so they can't be towed. the proposed bill would close the loophole. and it is 17 minutes after 5:00. we are just updating you on an accident that happened just a few minutes ago on 76. >> nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter christine maddela has that. christine? >> i've been watching this accident on the schuylkill expressway with emergency vehicles out here. this is eastbound at spring garden street. take a look at the left-hand side of the screen. there is the cars involved in that. they are trying to move that to the shoulder but right now the right-hand lane is blocked as they move this off to the shoulder. even though there's not a lot of volume out there, it's causing a backup on the schuylkill expressway. this is on the eastbound side of spring garden. just be on the lookout for that making your way through this morning. this is on the eastbound side. the westbound side is moving along quite nice lip. we just got information from police on this. woodhaven road is closed from knights road to millbrook road.

they have that section shut down. if you need to get around that take millbrook road. your drive times, even though eastbound we are seeing the accident on the schuylkill expressway, we have a green light. 15 minutes is your drive time from the blue route to the vine. 95, the blue route also looking pretty good out there. no major problems to report. but route 1 is still closed 31 is still shut down at olden avenue because of the accident and a downed pole in mercer county. and showers moving through. it's a mix of rain and snow this morning. we've seen both. here at the nbc 10 studios, you can see the clouds over center city with the wind blowing and the flag getting a workout throughout the day today. the wind will be stronger this afternoon. the mount pocano is still seeing snow this morning. snow is tapering off in wilmington, but we could see a few nor flakes and rain drops before the morning is done. it's coming down at big bear. that's a view this morning from the pocano mountains.

this is a damp start as a cold front moves through. it does look very impressive. just scattered light showers. snow is falling in chester county and delaware county. look at new castle county in delaware. and burlington county heavier snow in the pemberton area. don't be surprised if you see the snowflakes to start with. we'll be clearing out today, but another round of wet weather for tomorrow. this doesn't look like much either just yet. it's moving in from the dakotas. that's a possibility for us later tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon. just rain with that tomorrow for philadelphia. for today, we'll start off with a mix of snow and rain. gusty winds will push the clouds out of here this afternoon. the winds to 30 miles an hour today. so the temperatures will be in the middle to upper 50s today. and close to it tomorrow. rain in the area on tuesday. it will be done by wednesday. here comes the sun. though it's going to be colder on wednesday, 34 in the morning.

he's some snow moving through the area this morning. it could be a wet commute, so take it easy on the roads. the rain will end and we'll get a nice warm up with cooler weather ahead. meteorologist bill henley is back with that in a moment. and christians across the world are beginning holy week. pope francis held mass in saint peter's square yesterday. hundreds of pilgrims flocked there for the service.

they recalled gentlemenjesus' death by crucifix. and yesterday in center city they celebrated palm sunday that day marks jesus' entry to jerusalem where crowds greeted him waving the branches of palm trees. in center city parishioners received palms before entering the cathedral of saints peter and paul for mass. and a different type of easter tradition here. philadelphia's love statue got a bit of a marshmallow makeover. you're looking at peep parts in maryland. many can tour the giant works of art including a giant goofy and minion. the peep show runs through april 6th. of course peeps are made in bethlehem, pennsylvania. >> of course an easter favorite. one chain store is developing new standards for dietary supplements. landon dowdy is here with that story in this morning's cnbc business news. good morning, landon. >> hey, tracy, good morning to you. they have agreed to implement

sweeping new testing for dietary supplements. "the new york times" reports this action comes as the new york attorney general accused gmc and three other retailers of selling supplements that were contaminated with unlisted ingredients that could pose health ingredients. they have been plagued by accusations and mislabeled products. and turning to wall street. futures point to a higher open with stocks rallying breaking a four-day losing streak but the market is still posting the biggest weekly loss since the end of january. we have data on personal income and spending. the dow rose and the nasdaq was up as well. tracy, back over to you. >> landon dowdy from cnbc. thanks. it's a monday morning. and we're tracking the rain and some snowflakes as well. it's a cold enough day for snow with temperatures above freezing. a light dusting on some cars and

moving through parts of the area this morning. and we have proof of that. good morning welcome to "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. >> i'm chris cato. yes, you need the windshield wipers and maybe a snow brush in some parts of the area this morning. we'll begin with meteorologist bill henley and the first alert forecast. good morning, bill. there's a light accumulation on some cars. the colder surfaces will see that, but the roadways are fine. it's just a bit damp outside. and it's a mix of rain and snow to start with but it won't be here all day. there you can see that view from center city and the adventure aquarium. that's a live view with the clouds moving through to look pretty dry right now, but there's still a few more rain drops and snowflakes in store for us this morning. the snow has already pushed to the east. look at burlington county right now getting some steadier snowfall that is in eastern burlington county. pemberton should see snow blowing through and it will keep going. 35 in philadelphia. trenton and mount holly, 33 degree
