poconos. 77 in allentown. 78 in wilmington. 79 in millville. 77 in the atlantic city airport. temperatures near wildwood at 77. this is the last 12-hour loop for you. i want to show how strong the thunderstorms are that moved through. we are seeing a few isolated light showers mainly pushing into cumberland and salem counties. as we head into the afternoon, temperatures will feel like they're in the mid 90s. just keep that in mind as you make plans for dad. actual temperatures will be in the low 90s. we will see a warm hot, humid sticky day. the next eight hours, here's the breakdown. temperatures warming up nicely. it will feel warm as early as noon with temperatures at 84. breezy conditions by 3:00 p.m. 88. by 6:00 p.m. 89.

today's high at 90 degrees. ted? ♪ happening now, church services are resuming at emanuel ame church in charleston, south carolina. an emotional morning there after nine people were kill during a shooting rampage last week. the pastor among the victims. a pastor from new york is leading services there today. the philadelphia church with ties to emanuel ame church in charleston is also reopening today for sunday services. black bunting hangs inside mother bethel a.m.e. church in society hill in remembrance for the nine victims. church leaders tell us they're making sure all worshipers are safe today. >> we know we're in a neighborhood where anybody can walk through the doors. we have always taken it serious. i'm certain we'll pay more

attention to it now. at the end of the day we don't want to let fear drive us. >> some houses of worship in our area are planning fund-raisers for the church in charleston. for a list, visit nbc10.com. this morning the shootings in charleston will be the focus of discussion on "meet the press." moderator chuck todd will sit down with leaders in south carolina to talk about the details surrounding the massacre. you can watch "meet the press" right here after our newscast at 10:30. look at this car fire we shot overnight. this was on the roosevelt expressway near fox street in the east falls section of the neighborhood. the entire car was engulfed in flames around 3:30 this morning. shortly after we arrived, firefighters were able to put the flames out. luckily no one was hurt. still no word on what sparked that fire. we got an update on a

shooting at a philadelphia bar. authorities tell us the security guard is in custody but no charges have been filed. police say this started with a fight at old madrid at 5th and fisher in olney at 2:00 a.m. authorities say when the security guard escorted a 27-year-old man out of the bar, he attacked the guard. the guard shot the man. a deadly shooting at a different bar in north philadelphia. investigators say a fight broke out between a man and a woman at a bar at 29th and chalmers. that's when the bar's owners got involved and shot the man in the chest. the victim was taken to the hospital and later died. we just learned moments ago there were more victims in that block party shooting than police previously thought. nine people were wounded in the shooting in west philadelphia. jesse gary is live outside penn presbyterian hospital with the new information. >> reporter: not only were there more victims, investigators say not one suspect but two

suspects two men armed with shotguns firing bird shot in case you don't know bird shot is similar to buck shot but smaller. on the left-hand side of the screen is the buck shot on the right is the bird shot. tyrone jones left the hospital here at penn presbyterian earlier thissing. one of nine people hit with that bird shot. he was all mum, didn't want to talk about what happened last night. detective says someone opened fire around 10:00 as the family celebrated a relative's birthday. nine people including three children were wounded in the violence at 41st and ogden street. police say the shooters used shotguns and possibly another weapon. an 18-month-old baby girl is among those wounded in the attack. all of the children are being treated at children's hospital of philadelphia. they are all in stable condition. the remaining victims inside

here are also listed in stable condition. again, police are looking for two men armed with guns firing bird shot that hit nine people in west philadelphia last night. they say they have sketchy details about what these men like. they need the public's help. if you have information, call southwest detectives. live in west philadelphia jesse gary nbc 10 news. there was also a shooting about a dozen blocks away now. there is no word yet if the shootings are possibly related. this was the scene at 37th and mount vernon in mantua. here a man was shot around 9:40 night. he died a short time later. no arrests in this shooting either. now to detroit where a block party shooting left one person dead. right now the shooter is still on the run. nine others were hurt. investigators say no children were shot through the grace of god, quoting there. authorities think the victim who was killed had been targeted by the shooter.

pope benedict xvifrancis arrived in the town of turin today and viewed the piece of cloth known as the turin shroud. some people believe it's the same 14-foot cloth that covered jesus christ, but skeptics think otherwise. during the pope's visit he is expected to meet with young people, workers, immigrants and sick people. we continue to follow the preparations for the pope. later today the philadelphia delegation for the world meeting of families will leave for rome. archbishop charles chaput, mayor nutter and local leaders will meet with vatican officials to iron out the details for the event and pope francis' visit in september. they're scheduled to fly out of philadelphia international airport 6:30 this evening and will be overseas through friday. nbc 1010's chris cato is already in rome and he'll have live reports from there beginning tonight. still ahead, fleeing firefly. nearly 100,000 people were forced to leave the music festival in dover when severe weather hit the area. we'll tell you what's planned for today there. and a possible lead in the

investigators believe a lightning strike caused this house fire in dover. the fire started at the home on cold spring place. firefighters had it under control in about an hour. no one was hurt. also in dover, the fire flight music festival is set go on today after organizers were forced to clear the grounds last night. a fewer sent us this video which shows crowds streaming towards the exit. organizers urged people to take down tents and canopies at their camp sites and shelter in vehicles. but, again, today's shows are expected to go on as scheduled.

good morning. we're pretty much done with the rainfall especially the heavy rain that moved through overnight. as we move through the rest of today, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds. temperatures climbing into the 90s. mostly cloudy skies for philadelphia. it will take a while for the clouds to clear up. thing i wanted to point out, as we head into the afternoon, a few passing showers. closer to 5:00 6:00 7:00. for the most part dry throughout today. though we are going to see humid conditions. keep that in mind as you make plans for father's day. you may not want to sit outas we get towards the afternoon hours. it will feel like the mid 90s, but actual temperatures 88 degrees. 89 by 6:00 p.m. today's temperatures ranging between 87 and 90. i'm tracking the possibility of a heat wave. i'll have all the details coming up in about ten minutes in my

killers moves closer to the pennsylvania border. police are investigating a possible sighting of david sweat and richard matt yesterday after along train tracks in friendship, new york, about 30 miles from the pennsylvania border. the two men got away from the clinton correctional facility in northern new york on june 6th. state policed a the public to report suspicious activity and urge residents who live in the friendship area to be on alert. a prisoner in new orleans is on the run after investigators say he shot and killed an officer while riding in a police cruiser. investigators say the prisoner somehow got his hands from behind his back, grabbed the gun and got into the front of the cruiser through a small opening. right now police are trying to determine how the man obtained the weapon and they do not believe he used the officer's gun. >> that prisoner somehow was

able to get his hands from behind his back where he was handcuffed, where then he was handcuffed from the front. he actually shot officer holloway while transporting him. >> officials say that officer was a 22-year veteran of the new orleans police department. delaware county businesses are working to make this father's day special for the son of a fallen philadelphia police officer. the youngest son of sergeant robert wilson iii turns two this month. a group of delaware county residents used social media to gather birthday cards for the boy. that idea spread and nearly a dozen businesses are holding a birthday party him today. sergeant wilson was shot and killed in north philadelphia back in march. he had gone into a gamestop to buy a gift for his older son's birthday when two brothers tried to rob the place. wilson died after shootout.

a merck scientist in north jersey is facing charges for allegedly running a lab in his home to produce the drug ghb. prosecutors say chemicals and other materials used to make the drug were found in the man's springfield home in union county. ghb is often called a date rape drug because it can produce sedative effects. wait lists for veterans at some va centers are longer now than they were a year ago. according to the "new york times," the va has increased its capacity by 7 million patient visits since last year when a scandal over false records and long wait times hit the department of veterans affairs. but officials did not anticipate just how much workload and demand from veterans would continue to increase. today crews hope to partially contain a wildfire in southern california that's already burned 1,000 acres of land. an additional 300 firefighters are expected to join those already working the blaze. the fire started yesterday

afternoon near santa margarita. several homes had to be evacuated. investigators are still trying to figure out how the fire started. investigators want to know how this fire started at a marina close to where the u.s. open is taking place. no one was hurt but 30 boats were destroyed. smoke and flames from the fire could be seen during the live broadcast of the tournament. officials say the blaze caused about $4 million in damage. an update on the breaking news we told you about yesterday morning. police say it could take days to clean up the oil left behind after a fuel truck caught fire on the pennsylvania turnpike. it happened around 7:00 a.m. in bensalem shutting down the eastbound lanes for hours. a viewer shot this video of the truck which was haul being 2700 gallons of home heating oil at the time. no one was injured. a cause is still under investigation. drivers in new jersey continue to see higher prices at the pump.

this marks the fifth straight week that gas prices have gone up in the garden state. according to aaa, the average price of a gallon of regular in new jersey is $2.62, up two cents from last week, much lower than the 3.59 drivers were paying this time last year. here's a look across the area. in new jersey, most drivers paying around $2.62. in delaware, the average is $2.75 a gallon. and in philadelphia, $2.83 a gallon. talk about catching a wave. look at this. 66 surfers set the world record for the most people riding a board at once. about 5,000 people were at huntington beach in california to watch the guinness world record attempt. the surfers rode the wave for 12 seconds. the previous record was set a decade ago when 47 surfers rode a wave for 10 seconds.

good morning. happy father's day to all the fathers out there. we will see hot and humid conditions. the good news is we're drying out. all that heavy rainfall has pushed off shore and is off to the north and of us. i'm tracking a heat wave for the next three days. outside, mostly cloudy skies for philadelphia, at least dry. 80 degrees. wind speeds out of the northwest 15 miles per hour, gusting up to 26. it's a hot and sticky start and also seeing breezy conditions. in allentown, 7 degrees7 degrees. we will push into the low 90s today. here are the remnants of tropical depression bill way off to the east of us. we will see some scattered showers heading into the afternoon. we are fine as you head out for brunch or head out to church.

approaching 4:00 5:00, we'll see a few scattered showers, maybe an isolated thunderstorm moves through. we'll up once again as we head into the sunday evening. our heat wave that's what we're tracking. we havewill hit 90 today. our average is 84. 91 is the high. monday we climb higher than that a closer look at highs around the area. 81 in the poconos. 88 in quakertown. 90 the high today in norristown. same thing in mt. holly. warmer temperatures for us. cape may in the mid 80s. 90 degrees in philadelphia with a little bit of sunshine peeking through as we head into the afternoon. so, it's going to take a while to get rid of the thick clouds here. we should see sunshine on the first official day of summer. a closer look at the average, our range for today. ranging between 87 and 90

pirates. scherzer struck out ten yesterday for the second no-hitter in major league baseball this year. but it did not come without controversy. two outs in the ninth, scherzer hit jose tabata in the elbow ending the bid for the perfect game. some argued that he leaned into the pitch on purpose. the ump did not see it that way. i'm going home! leah still is going home. the 5-year-old daughter of cincinnati bengals star devon still has been at children's hospital of philadelphia for several weeks undergoing stem cell therapy for her cancer. but yesterday she got some great news and her father posted this video to instagram. they will have a great father's day. actress and director angelina jolie is asking for more to be done to help refugees around the world. she visited a refugee camp in turkey yesterday.

she was there in her role as a united nations special envoy. she was also marking world refugee day, which was yesterday. she called the millions of refugees across the globe an explosion of human suffering. in addition to this being father's day, it's also the summer solstice. in england thousands of people gathered at stonehenge today to celebrate the longest day of the year. the solstice always draws crowds to the mysterious set of stones whose purpose remains unclear. first day of summer and it will feel like it. >> it will feel like it. hot and sticky breezy conditions expected today. our actual temperature will push to 90 but the feels like temperature will be closer to the mid 90s. we could have a heat wave on our hands. look at our seven-day forecast. if we hit 90 degrees today, monday tuesday, three straight days officially it will be a heat wave. sunny and hot on monday, 91 by tuesday.
