it is snowing where you are. it will be snowing as we go into send. we expect a winter storm still. we'll be seeing snow falling and accumulating across part of the area. not today, though, and not tomorrow. this morning, though, some areas are still in the 30s. if you're about to walk out in allentown, 38 degrees, 36 right now millville, 47 in philadelphia, 45 degrees in wilmington. so yes, today will be a nice day. take a look at future weather as we go through the afternoon. we'll be staying dry. it will get breezy and temperatures around 06 degrees by noon. if you're in new jersey and delaware by noon today, 62 degrees. by 4:00 p.m., 63. partly cloudy, philadelphia area, by noon 60 degrees, by 4:00, low 60s. the lehigh valley by noon 53 degrees, 4:00 p.m., near 60. tomorrow, a dry day, sunday, very different. here's future weather, kind of an overview. it could be moving in sunday morning. we could see a wintry mix
elsewhere. coming up, we take a look at the closer view and timing on this and what you can expect as far as snow accumulations. we are watching for some cleanup of construction out on the garden state parkway where we did have the left lane closed at route 322 at exit 36 between pleasantville and exit 37. that was scheduled to be out there until about 6:00 this morning, about right now. you have to watch out for are crew members on the scene of that construction cleanup. here's 95 around cottman avenue. no problems here. a 14-minute trip, just dropping into the 50s. still that's good enough for us. we're not seeing that big increase yet. mass transit, everything is pretty much running on time. we have car shortages due to low equipment problems around the fox nice train, 805 and 807. other trains starring to spread. check before you go or get there a little early to make sure you can get a good seat.
vai and katy. a man is dead after philadelphia police say someone stabbed him in the chest. the stabbing happened last night in frankford. after the stabbing, the injured man ran down the street and then he ran into or was hit by an suv which drove away. the vick was pronounced dead at the hospital. philadelphia police say an armed suspect who was shot by an officer is expected to survive. the confrontation happened last night near 15th street and allegheny avenue in north philadelphia. police say plain clothes officers on patrol recognize the man as the prime suspect in aç shooting. investigators say when the officers approached the suspect, he took off running. police chased him into an alley. >> that's when the male pulled a gun from his waistband, pointed it at police. officers orred him to drop the gun. he refused. one officer discharge his weapon, striking the suspect. >> the suspect is in stable
condition at temple university hospital. three former religious leaders charged with child endangerment are expected to turn themselves in to police today. pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane announced a grand jury's findings tuesday. the men were part of the franciscan fryers based near holid holidaysburg, just outside of altoona. they are accused of allowing brother stephen baker to molest more than 100 children while working at mccort high school. baker took his own life in 2013. check out this close call for this school bus caught in a building collapse in center city. a tree and lamp post landed on top of the bus after concrete columns from the building's floor gave way. crews were demolishing the old whitman's chocolate factory when part of the concrete floor fell in. workers are the proper permits and had set up a collapse zone. the building debris landed in
that zone but then pushed other items on to the school bus. there were no kids on the bus at the time. the driver says he's thankful he wasn't hurt. and today it is tournament time. villanova, temple and st. joe's all play their ncaa openers today. jay wright's wildcats tip off with unc asheville. fran dunphy's owls follow on same court against iowa at 3:10 and then tonight at 9:57, bill martelli's hawks face off against cincinnati in spokane, washington. now to a developing story. the fbi is investigating a letter containing white powder and a threatening message sent to the home of donald trump's son, eric. nbc's tracey strahan live in new york city for us. what do we know at this point? >> reporter: so far we can tell you we see firsthand an nypd
squad car is outside of the trump park east, the building on central park south where eric trump lives with his wife. it's actually his security team that called in the envelope with suspicious white powder that has already tested to be not hazardous. police are telling us this morning, this is an open investigation. eric trump is donald trump's third child. he's been on the stump for his father throughout this run for the white house. city officials confirm to us that was an envelope discovered last night. it was postmarked from massachusetts. but so far, it'sç unclear who possibly could have sent this. it comes at a time when donald trump's campaign has been the focus of a lot of attention, as usual. this week it was part of that hacking group anonymous that reportedly leaked what they claimed to be his cell phone and social security numbers online. and they asked for more action to be taken on april 1st. so far, we haven't had any statements from donald trump's campaign or from eric trump but, again, this remains an open
investigation. back to you. >> tracie strahan, reporting for us from new york. politico reports a group met in washington yesterday. its plan for a third party bid could be a nonstarter. trump has won nearly half of the states that have won republican primaries so far. he needs a little more than half of the delegates to secure the nomination. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist sheena parveen. >> well, this morning, a little chilly this afternoon, though. really nice. and then we talk about the weekend. it is going to be cold this weekend. it will feel like winter, look like winter. we have a winter storm still in the forecast for the first day of spring which is sunday. and we do expect some accumulating snow. now, in some parts of area could be tricky with kind of a mix. other parts could be seeing mainly snow. right now, though, pottstown
sitting at 42 degrees, clear skies, wilmington 45, clear skies there and atlantic city coming in at 46 degrees. nice this afternoon, dry tomorrow and then we're talking about sunday, snowfall. here's the timing of that, snow by noon on send. we'll be seeing a rain mix likely in new jersey and delaware, accumulating mostly late sunday once the temperatures get colder. the accumulation at the start of any snow, mostly north and west will be melting at the beginning but then sticking later to roads which will be a concern by monday morning. we could have icy spots with still snowy roads, especially those areas that's the higher accumulation. i'll show you that in just a second. as for your friday, it's going to be nice into the week, mostly dry conditions. 3:00 p.m. today, right around 60 degrees for most of the area, just about partly cloudy skies to end out your week. we start your weekend, everyone wanting to know what the weather is going to be like for your weekend. it will be colder, mid-30s to low 30s. only in the upper 40s, saturday,
6:00 p.m., notice rain to the south. that's that storm system approaching. the models have been speeding a storm system up a little bit. we could see snow as early as 8:00 monday morning. temperatures at that time would be cold enough to support snowfall mostly around the philadelphia area and north and west. new jersey and delaware, you've noticed the rain here, maybe a wintry mix. that's because temperatures will be warmer near 40 degrees possibly. send afternoon, still seeing this thing across the çarea, wintry mix through parts of the area, i think through the afternoon sunday since temperatures will try to get up there a little bit. areas north and west could still be around freezing. by 10:00 p.m. sunday we all get colder and that's where we could see more in the way of snowfall. kind of tapering off as we go into early monday. now, the chance for 4 inches of snow, very low in new jersey and delaware. we'll see more mixing. a little better chance around philadelphia but the best chance does look to be through the lehigh valley and poconos. of course we'll be updating that forecast as we get closer with more model updates coming in later today and across the
weekend because of the timing changes, which it may, it would be changing any accumulation forecast. today windy and warm. we stay dry, temperatures in the low 60s. a look at that seven-day forecast coming up. 6:11 this friday morning. time to get another look at traffic and the schuylkill. >> jessica has been following the schuylkill. you've been watching a lot of other roads that have kept you busy this morning. >> we're starting to see the accident scenes we've been dealing with earlier clear out of the way. now we're just waiting for the morning rush to start. right now we don't see a lot of backups on the schuylkill expressway. we do have more traffic heading into center city for right now. here's girard avenue, no problems in either direction. we do have a 13-minute drive time eastbound from the blue route to the vine street expressway. average speeds still up there into the 50s. we are watching a lot of ongoing construction as well. it's really what is one of our bigger problems for the morning time around new castle. this on ramp is closed from route 13 northbound to 295.

democratic presidential candidate bernie sanders is losing more ground to front-runner hillary clinton. yesterday, sanders conceded the closely fought missouri primary and an extra two delegates to clinton. sanders could have asked for a recount but said he wanted to save the taxpayers money. a kurdish television channel aired an interview with a man identified as the first american who quit the battlefield after fighting for isis. mohammed khweis left virginia for isis-controlled territory in iraq. talked about how he traveled in turkey and syria to join isis. he surrendered to kurdish forces in mosul. khweis talked about why he says he left isis. >> i didn't really support their ideology. and at that point, that's when i decided i needed to escape.
>> khweis added that life in mosul was, quote, really, really bad. he also said while with isis he met up with a lot of foreigners including asians and russians from nearby countries. well, at least 20 people were hurt when a stunt performer caught fire during a pep rally at a high school in florida. thousands of students were in the gymnasium yesterday morning as fire eater ricki charles did his act. he was supposed to blow fire but instead became engulfed in the flames. charles says he does know what caused the fire. >> i changed the oil i've been using. i've been using a different oil and today i tried a new oil and the oil is actually got me in trouble. >> yes, i'll say. charles said his burns across -- he has burns across his face but is doing well. several students were treated for breathing problems after the fire.the school district says
shows involving fire are forbidden so the incident will be investigated. 6:18 this friday morning. time to get another check of ç traffic. >> it's been a busy morning on the roads, since 4:00 a.m. >> we're watching a vehicle fire now that popped up in whitemarsh on the pa turnpike around skippack pike. we'll give you more details as they become available to us. route 422, trooper road, that pretty much wraps around and heads eastbound towards the schuylkill expressway. that's where we see most of the delay in the morning time, sometimes starting to see a little bit of that added volume right now. it might be early for that, especially considering it's a friday morning. we're light on friday. eastbound from 29 to the schuylkill expressway is a nine-minute trip. if we're heading out the door into cherry hill, new jersey, there's a set of traffic lights

looking at the snowfall. here are the details on it, as far as the timing is concern, we've seen it speed up a little bit today. recent compute irmodel updates are bringing it in in the morning. we will certainly be having snow by noon. a rain and mix likely in new jersey and delaware with accumulations better send night. because that's when it will be colder for accumulating snow. now as far as those accumulations are concerned on the roadways with be that should be melting at the start. otherwise once those temperatures drop because we know once that snow falls, it gets colder. then it will be sticking to roads once we drop more below freezing. by monday morning, it will be pretty much throughout the whole day sunday and into sunday night. icy spots, monday morning for the commute. snow on the roads. we'll be tracking this with updates on the timing as we go through the next couple days here. future weather today, dry near 60. cold tomorrow morning, 8:00 a.m. in the 30s. tomorrow afternoon, upper 40s. look what happens on send. snow north and west by the morning possibly, rain south and

to describe real estate agents who have been helping a growing number of jewish clients find homes in the community. kelliher insists he was referencing public comments made during a council meeting last month. following numerous complaints about aggressive tactics by real estate agents, toms river lawmakers have barred agents from door-to-door solicitic. >> they're welcome here. they're not welcome to come and buy property in the manner in which they're doing. >> we're not here knocking on doors, we're not invading. it's people that are moving in. like every other town and city in the united states of america. >> earlier this week, the mayor of neighboring lakewood says he was appalled by the invasion quote and called on mayor kelliher to apologize. kelliher says an apology implies he made a mistake and he does not feel like he made one. now it is back. >> through the cold war this was unheard of. talking about direct mail service to the u.s. from cuba. a flight carrying the first

43 in reading. mid-40s for wilmington. near 50 now mount holly and northeast philly. bus stop forecast this morning. you'll want a jacket for that, especially if you're in the lehigh valley. upper 30s by 7:00 a.m., philadelphia area upper 40s. new jersey and delaware mainly mid to upper 40s. by the afternoon, it will be a nice day today. highs topping out around the low 60s. we'll see partly cloudy skies, nice, dry conditions. then we go into the weekend. colder air will move in for your saturday and sunday. and this is going to set us up for a winter storm for the start of spring. snow in the forecast, parts of area, wintry mix for your sunday. coming up, i'll show you a closer look at the timing on it, details of what you can expect and maybe how much snow you can expect, too. let's take a look at the roads on this friday with jessica boyington. >> we're watching a vehicle fire out in white marsh in montgomery county on the pa turnpike and skippack pike. police activity on the scene as
well. here's the schuylkill expressway around the vine street expressway. we are starting to see that increase in the drive time, just a little bit, though, about a five-minute increase. now 16 minutes eastbound from the blue route to the vine street expressway, starting to see that normal rush hour volume. right here are the eastbound lanes. right here is headed westbound towards the king of prussia area. that's going okay so far. average speeds headed eastbound into center city, just dropping into the 40s and starting to low slow down. there's a set of traffic lights malfunctioning on route 70 eastbound around the new jersey turnpike. one lane possibly closed there. pay attention to police direction when you head around. >> jessica, thank you. it is tournament time.ç in just hours, three philadelphia teams will tip off in college basketball's big dance. st. joe's, temple and villanova with all looking to make their markltw starting today. at least one of the three teams will not make it through the second round on sunday. all three teams are playing today. take a look at the practice sessions. we caught up with the teams yesterday, temple, st. joe's and villanova are all in the tournament. here's what it looked like yesterday. the owls play today. they're playing iowa this afternoon. villanova plays unv asheville. both of those games will be held in brooklyn. st. joe's plays cincinnati in spokane, washington. the hawks just came off winning the atlantic ten tournament. they're hoping to keep that up streak. if both villanova and temple win today, they'll play each other on sunday. the wildcats have had rough luck in the recent years. they'd like to change that. >> we don't like being a team known as an early exit. that starts with unc asheville.

sports net's john clark will break down local teams and desh out bracket by bracket coverage. 6:36. a teachers strike in the lehigh valley has been averted at least for now. >> that means teachers in nazare nazareth, northampton county will be in the classrooms this morning. the teachers threatened to walk off the job after battling with the school district over money and health care. district officials said a strike would be illegal. there's still no contract. negotiations will resume next week. >> save our schools. >> in philadelphia, parents, teachersç and the naacp are fighting to save three public schools. yesterday they demonstrated outside the school district, building in spring garden. the group opposes plans to convert worcester, cook and another elementary school to charter schools they say the plans go again the wishes of the community. >> they have just turned a deaf ear to the demands of the
educators as well as the parents in the community. >> school district told us it focuses on having the best schools for students and charter schools are part of that. the district runs about 80 charter schools right now. philadelphia police are looking for a teenage father and his young daughter after they say he ran off with his child. police say 3-year-old nevaeh brooks was playing in front her grandmother's home in olney yesterday when her father grabbed her and ran away. the grandmother called police. according to investigators, 17-year-old alejandro martinez who you see there, does not have custody of his daughter. martinez's mother has custody. police say he is a known drug user. we have an update on a school hazing investigation into chester county. the head football coach of conestoga high school has resigned. also the school has relieved the entire staff of varsity and jv football teams of their coaching
responsibilities through next year. this comes less than two weeks after the district attorney filed charges against three players who are accused of sexually assaulting a freshman with a broom stick in the locker room. could a fixture in center city have a new name in the coming years? you're looking live right now at the aramark building which has been part of the philadelphia skyline for about three decades. but aramark is now considering moving its headquarters. the lease on the market street building expires in 2018. a company spokesperson told the philadelphia business journal several options are being considered, including a move to the navy yard or camden. aramark is the fifth largest public company in the region. 6:38. about 48 degrees in philadelphia. today the philadelphia police department will promote dozens of officers. a ceremony is schedule for temple university's performing arts center later this morning. mayor jim kenney and police commissioner richard ross will join other dignitaries to

temperatures in the 30s to start your saturday. cold through the afternoon. by tomorrow afternoon, around the upper 40s for a high temperature and then you notice rain down to the south, that is the approach of our storm system for sunday. now look at sunday morning. the timing has sped up with this system. and we do expect the timing to change as we get closer, some of the computer models getting a better grasp on this, moving it in earlier so the timing will be dictating who sees what across the area and how much you may be able to see because of the temperatures at that particular time. as of now, 8:00 sunday morning, at or below freezing north and west, that would be snow. south jersey and philadelphia above freezing, that would be rain or maybe a wintry mix. around 2:00 p.m., north and west, a wintry mix, maybe just rain in south jersey and delaware. by sunday, 10:00 p.m.,
temperatures below freezing. chance of four inches or more across the area with snow accumulations sunday into sunday night. low chance for new jersey and delaware. higher through philadelphia but any mixing, any rain and snow mixing or even sleet, that could be lowering these totals the best chance of four inches or more would be through the lehigh valley, the poconos, upper montgomery, bucks and chester counties. again we are expecting this thing to last for a little while now. for today, windy, warm, low 60s. nice into the week. then we go into the weekend and we see the approach of that winter storm. with cold temperatures, 34 for the morning low tomorrow, 32 on sunday. official start to spring. it's not unusual to see the snow. i think we got used to the warmer temperatures for a little while. coming up, more details on the sunday snowfall. 6:41. if you're out in south jersey, come to your tv right now. we'll give you a helping hand. >> especially around the 42 freeway. i don't know, i just pull these
things out. i don't know how i know. that can be a rough ride at this point. >> the 42 freeway typically where we start to see the volume and delays, headed northbound towards the philadelphia area. and over the bridges. right now actually i just checked in with the bridges a few moments ago. okay on the walt, the ben, no problems into philadelphia and no scheduled openings on the tacony palmyra and the burlington bristol. 295 around routeú3ç, no problem in either direction. southbound 38 to the black horse pike is typically where we see the delay in the morning time. not just yet, though. if you're heading to where philadelphia, where you run into philadelphia to get on 76 or over the walt whitman bridge. 12-minute trip from 38 to that point and the black horse pike, speeds up into the 60s. in lower merion, an accident scene on hollow road and river road to watch out for. small delays there. still watching cherry hill township, route 70 eastbound on
6:46. new video shows police evacuating a crowded septa bus as they closed in on a wanted man. police say the man you just saw sleeping in the back is a us suspect. >> he was wanted for shooting a teenage employee at a fast food restaurant. police just released this video to us yesterday to highlight the importance of body cameras. now, in this case, all the riders got off the route 23 septa bus without question last week as police approached the suspect, ronald graham.
>> an officer makes a decision,' proching an attempt murder suspect who may very well be armed and willing to shoot it out. that officer is quickly and quietly telling people get off, in a way that you saw nobody stopped to say, well, is it going to be running in five minutes? everybody got off that bus right away. police say graham shot the teenager on march 6th after an argument about cleaning tables inside a church's chicken on broad street. he now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder. there's no shortage of opinions about former eagle lesean mccoy and alleged involvement in a nightclub brawl in philadelphia. authorities are investigating mccoy in connection to an assault on two off-duty police officers at the recess lounge in old city last month. the district attorney has not filed charges. this was mayor jim kenney yesterday. >> the district attorney, i'm not a lauxw enforcement person. i certainly expressed my opinion from the beginning from what i saw in the video.
justice sometimes takes its course, takes its time. i'm confident shale do the right thing. >> he told investigators that the nightclub incident was not his fault. 6:48. medical marijuana could be legal in pennsylvania as soon as next week. it will be a while before patients can get it. the house approved the bill on wednesday and now it's headed to the senate. the senate is expected to approve it, as is governor tom wolf. lawmakers said they were swayed by science and personal stories. one coming from a marine veteran after he said he turned to cannabis after he was prescribed pills for post traumatic stress which left him numb.
>> i laughed for the first time in a really long time. i have not turned back since. >> this transcends democrat/republican, liberal/conservative. anyone can get sick. >> state senator daylin leach said it could become a year to a month before pennsylvania begins running marijuana dispensaries. the east coast girls volleyball tournament, hundreds of teams will compete against the qualifier at the pennsylvania convention center. the tournament runs this weekend into next week. the tournament is expected to bring nearly $36 million in revenue into the city. a hospital in delaware county sent home a mom having minor contractions saying she wasn't nearly ready to deliver. >> i love this story because they have everything together. when they got home, the baby had other ideas and the dad was ready. this newborn was not about to wait. so when the mother got home she went into the bathroom and her son jason was ready to be born at that moment. dad, joe, a marine corps veteran who received a purple heart in afghanistan sprang into action.
>> i knew to put my hand under there and catch the baby. they didn't teach me anything about catching a baby. i can't believe i just delivered this baby. and how fast can an ambulance get here. >> right? you can't blame him for that. soon after, the paramedics arrived to find a 6 pound healthy baby boy. they helped dad cut the umbilical cord and took them to the hospital. people are welcoming late winter snow in colorado. this year they haven't seen as much snow as usual in the loveland ski area in northern colorado. this snow brought out the locals and spring break vacationers to enjoy the slopes. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist sheena parveen. >> we're going to see early spring snow because it's technically coming on the first day of spring. so we have that in the forecast today. it's going to be nice, into the
weekend. it will be cold, temperatures dropping into the 30s in the morning. both saturday and sunday. as we go, there's a nice #)h(t&% advertisement for you right there. send, we're looking at the winter storm still for the first day of spring. we are talking about accumulating snow in the forecast. 38 degrees in allentown, 42 pottstown, 47 in philadelphia. if you're about to walk outside, 45 in wilmington, upper 40s in dover. and we stay colder and dry tomorrow. sunday is the day we're watching that winter storm moving in the timing for you, snow by noon. the models have sped up. we could see it in the morning. at least by noon we should be seeing snow falling. a rain mix likely new jersey an delaware because temperatures at that time will be warmer. the best accumulation would be later in the day and at night on sunday. with that accumulation we expect a lot of the snow to melt at the start. it would be the wet type of snow, too. as we go colder into sunday night, temperatures continue dropping below freezing, that snow will be sticking on to
roadways. that's going to be also something we'll be paying close attention to. those temperatures, monday morning commute, icy spots and still snow covered roadways, especially areas north and west where we expect some of the most. as we go through time here, this afternoon, near 60, nice friday, tomorrow morning into 30s. dry through the afternoon mostly, upper 40s and then take a look at that, sunday 8:00 in the morning. snow north and west, temperatures at or below freezing. if this moves in early enough, we could see it falling through the lehigh valley. south and east, through new jersey and delaware, mostly a mix. across the area and into sunday night we see the snow falling and starting to taper off early monday. chance of 4 inches or more. as we get closer to the lehigh valley, which should be seeing mostly snow. for today, going into the weekend, much colder, feeling and looking like winter.
