in its community. this is no april fool's. we're tracking showers. here's a live look at philadelphia international airport where it is a balmy 66 degrees out there. we're expecting temperatures near 80 today. but it does come with? rain in our area. good morning and welcome to "nbc 10 news today." i'm vai sikahema. >> i'm tracy davidson. let's find out about the rain from meteorologist bill henley. >> the first round of showers not looking impressive and starting to fall apart. most of the area not even seeing the rain,ç though it's cloudy d warm. showers are now limited to central delaware and south jersey. in fact, we've been tracking one lone shower that's moving to the northeast at close to 45 miles an hour. it won't last long. that's a heavier downpour, passing northwest of mystic island right now. shows showers will be on and off during the day. look at the numbers. 60s, close to 70 in northeast
philadelphia. 65 in roxborough and south philadelph philadelphia, 66. much warmer than normal. this is our starting point today. we'll be in the upper 70s this afternoon. you'll see occasional showers. 67 at 7:00. by 10:00, not much warmer. but a little windier and that wind just like the last couple days will help to warm our temperatures, low 70s at 1:00 this afternoon with a chance of scattered showers. we may see breaks in the clouds helping to boost our temperatures into the upper 70s for some areas. i'll go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood to show you where it's going to get warmer with readings in the 70s. that's when i'm back in ten minutes. we're watching the mid-county tolls around the blue route. actually our camera from the blue route to the germantown pike on ramp. we have a few disabled trucks coming off of the toll plaza right now. you can see them on the side. they're not causing any real disturbance. something to watch out for if you're heading out the door
there. watching for construction over into the center city area. we have paving construction going on on 15th street and south penn square. also broad street between city hall and spring garden street. that was only supposed to be out there until 5:00 this morning. crews on the scene right there now. something to watch out for. they'll be cleaning up in the next couple minutes or so. we're at a ten-minute drive time headed northbound or southbound from route 30 to the schuylkill expressway. >> thank you, jessica. we're following a developing story that spans multiple counties in our area. a baby boy is back with his family this morning after he was abducted at the king of prussia mall. >> the suspectç is in custody. we have live team coverage this morning. monique braxton is at the mall. we begin with nbc 10's drew smith, outside upper merion township police where the suspect is being held. drew, walk us through what happened. >> reporter: tracy, right now we can tell you, that woman is still being held here. we're working to find out the
exact charges she will face. let's go through this step by step. it was surveillance video from the mall that officers put out to the public shortly after the reported abduction around 5:30. then tips started coming in all at once. police figured out who she was and started checking locations where people had seen her. they moved from point to point in montgomery and chester counties, eventually find her and the baby at a home in tredyffrin township. when that news reached the dozens of the baby's family members here at the upper merion police station, there was a huge sense of relief. the family want to know what was going through the accused kidnaper's head and why she had to put them through this. >> the woman who was found with the child had been taking the child around tonight, other people had seen her with the child and we were able to track her from that point. >> she might have a problem. the lady might have a problem. i ain't going to say i am going to forgive her. there's a 50/50 chance.
>> reporter: again, police are not officially released the charges that suspect could face. there is no connection between that family and this woman. she was a stranger, came up to them at the mall and befriend them. we do expect that suspect to go before a judge today. live at the upper merion police department, i'm drew smith, nbc 10 news. we continue our team coverage with monique braxton live at the king of prussia mall. you learned in a personal way how police searched cars as they were leaving the mall last night. >> that's right, vai. i actually was in a line of cars leaving king of prussia just after 7:00 when police stopped me and i asked him what was going on. they said a baby had been taken and quickly searched the back seat of my car. here's video of what it looked like last night here at the mall. a chaotic çscene, as you might imagine. a lot the. well alarmed when they were approached by police. police were posted at every exit here at the mall. you see the officers stopping
cars, checking them thoroughly and waving customers on their way. that was taking place since 5:45 last night. skyforce 10 was over the scene, capturing every bit of it. shoppers we spoke with shared what police told them. >> they just told us that a 7-week-old child was taken and the lady had a white shirt and purple hair and the baby had on an orange jacket. >> what's your reaction to that happening here at king of prussia? >> i wouldn't expect it here. >> reporter: now, police are also walking through the mall, moments after the 7-week-old was snatched. the suspect was on on surveillance tape leaving the mall with the baby. two hours later, an amber alerts with broadcast on tv through the emergency alert system. first for philadelphia county, then chester, montgomery county, where the crime occurred and surrounding counties. then after 9:00 last night, four hours after the child was taken, the amber alert signal was sent
via cell phone. state police do issue amber alerts when a child under 18 years of age is abducted and believed to be in imminent danger or seriously injured. as we all know this morning, the baby was found safe and sound, reunited with the family. we're going to continue to follow this investigation throughout the day. live for now outside king of prussia mall, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. thank you, monique. to recap, police are holding the woman you see in this video. she's accused of abducting a baby boy from the food court of the king of prussia mall yesterday. the baby was found and is safe back with his family this morning. this story will be updating all day long. stay with nbc 10 news for up to the minute information. people caught up in a world of heroin will have more help to

philadelphia. republican presidential candidate john kasich rallied supporters at the union league yesterday. donald trump was blasted as being up prepared for the white house. kasich said he intends to compete aggressively in pennsylvania before the april 26th primary. donald trump did not campaign yesterday but he still made news. >> trump met privately with the republican national which the in washington. the gop front-runner waived and gave a thumbs up after speaking with officials for nearly an hour. the meeting followed trump's comments supporting some form of punishment for women who get abortions if the procedure were to become illegal. trump reversed himself and said his original comments were taken out of context. ted cruz won a case in the state scout that challenged his citizenship. a pittsburgh man argued cruz is not eligible because he was born in canada. for the democrats, hillary clinton campaigned in the new

blowing, not just this morning but this afternoon. our temperatures will warm well into the 70s. possibly upper 70s this afternoon. but it does not last through the weekend. a cold blast, you'll really feel it on sunday. right now, though, 60, even in the mountains, mt. pocono 60 degrees, 68 degrees in northeast philadelphia. some rain, light rain in atlantic city, no rain at boathouse row. the clouds overhead, the wind is blowing and the temperatures are warm. we've seen light showers move through parts of philadelphia, not everybody has seen those sprinkles. steadier showers are tapering off now in delaware and south jersey, in that one area of heavier rainfall has moved off to the northeast. it's a light rainfall in cape may. the futurecast, hour by hour showing at 8:00, cloudy skies. we will see the next round of showers move in by midmorning in delaware and south jersey. we could see heavier downpours in delaware and south jersey. light rain moving through
philadelphia. by noontime we get another break in the city and another round of showers possible during the early afternoon hours. then later this afternoon we'll beç watching to the west. a line of showers loosely strung together, moving through our area at 5:00. then it will be out of here this evening. might want to keep an umbrella handy, occasional showers an a chance of a thunderstorm. 70s this afternoon for allentown, reading and quakertown. you'll feel the warm winds in trenton, mount holly. at the shore, the winds will keep atlantic city cooler. 68 degrees with gusty winds and occasional showers for cape may, 75 in dover. look at the warmup for philadelphia, drexel hill, swedesboro, all into the 70s this afternoon with occasional showers. this may not be the end of the wet weather. there's a chance of some wet weather this weekend, too. the extended futurecast in the seven-day when i'm back in ten. >> thank you, bill. wet weather. kind of hard to believe.

here's a live look at deptford township where it's 65 degrees and we're tracking rain today, especially for south jersey and delaware. recapping our top story, a woman police say abducted a baby boy from the king of prussia mall yesterday. the child was missing for more than five hours. he's now back with his family. stay with nbc 10 for updates all day long. villanova is getting ready for the final four matchup in houston and fans from our area are joining the team in texas. nbc 10's matt delucia is live in houston this morning. matt, you got to speak with some of the lucky fans. >> absolutely, vai. one fan told me it's the final four, you can't miss this. a lot of people, i'm sure, are feeling the same way. it's been seven years since the wildcats have went to the final four, an eternity for some.

indian police detained five construction company officials in connection to that collapse. officials said yesterday the overpass was under construction and the builders had missed several deadlines for completing the project. at least 23 people were killed when the bridge crashed down early yesterday. 19 minutes past 5:00 a.m. this friday morning. we want to get an update on the police situation on 95. >> nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington is watching it. jessica? >> we are seeing big delays behind this right now. they're not actually huge delays behind it, it's just approaching the scene right in here.hr(t&ho meaning it's not affecting the drive times so far, headed southbound, 95 around girard avenue. we have a disabled vehicle situation over into the right-hand shoulder. you can see it's forcing all traffic, actually it's better no you. just a few moments ago we had one lane getting by. two lanes headed by the scene. we're losing part of the right-hand lane and that right-hand shoulder for sure as traffic just gets slow headed by the scene. this may increase, if that
continues to stay out there, we might see a delay as well. traffic lights are stuck on red on the boulevard in both directions. oxford circle right now, watch for police presence to get there shortly. here's route 422. no problems in either direction. eastbound from 29 to the schuylkill expressway, still an eight-minute trip with speeds into the 60s. i'll be back in the next ten minutes with more checks on these scenes. we'll check in on 95 and see how the delays look. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 20 minutes after 5:00. the clouds are rolling through the area. we've seen scattered showers. the temperatures not a problem. 67 degrees. it's a very warm start, in fact, close to 30 degrees warmer than normal. these clouds will be with us through the day and we will see more showers. there have been light showers so far and occasional showers and a possibility of thunderstorms. but through it all, the temperatures will stay warm. 60s to start with, in the 70s

it's 5:30 this friday morning. good morning. welcome to "nbc 10 news today." i'm tracy davidson. >> i'm vai sikahema. threeç minutes ago, bill was standing by his computer saying 66, laughing and sort of shaking his head. you want to share the rest of the group what that was all about. >> it's freakishly warm. it's so usual. we should be in the 30s this time of year. i'll take it, though. it's coming with, though, some showers. light rain showers mainly in delaware and south jersey. we saw a few sprinkles briefly in philadelphia. you can see there's not much left of those. now it's just a sprinkle or two moving through cape may county, avalon is seeing a few of those rain drops as well. everybody is getting the warm temperatures this morning. 67 for pottstown, wilmington, trenton, millville at 64 degrees. we'll warm in the 70s. south philadelphia, just a couple days ago was in the 20s. what a turnaround. but we will see showers and a chance of some thunderstorms. won't be an all-day rainfall. much of the
