good morning, this is "nbc 10 news today." >> let's get to bill henley with our new neighborhood weather. a forecast you won't get anywhere else. the forecast is focused on where you live. >> where you live, you're getting cool temperatures in the pennsylvania suburbs, south jersey. in philadelphia not quite so chilly. 42 degrees right now. we have broken it down into zones. each zone has its own seven-day forecast which you will find at the bottom of the screen. that 42 degrees in philadelphia with sunshine. skies starting to brighten. we will see a quick warmup. 55 by 11:00. those areas running colder, the pennsylvania suburbs, right now 33 degrees. temperatures will be warming into the 50s. south jersey at 31 degrees. chilly in the lehigh valley. sunshine in easton warming temperatures up to 47 by 9:00. by lunch time, 57 degrees.

what about delaware you ask? 36 degrees right now in delaware. the temperatures will be climbing into the middle 50s during the day today. and it's not just the 50s. we're heading into the 60s this afternoon with brilliant sunshine for philadelphia, 65. 63 for the suburbs. nice rebound for south jersey, 62 degrees. if you're heading to the shore, don't expect the 60s, it will be in the 50s today. jessica boyington is watching your first alert traffic. >> that's right. watching the lehigh valley. this is 78 around lehigh street. no problems in either direction. you can see light traffic and light volume out there right now. sun starting to come up a bit. now the schuylkill expressway, no delays here yet. we are still green across the board. she see an increase in the next 25 minutes or so, but not yet. eastbound into the city, still

doing great. here's 295 over in hamilton township, new jersey, right around sloan avenue. again, this is what the majors still look like. light volume across the board and into new jersey and parts of delaware. heading out the door to the new jersey transit train station in trenton, you'll be fine from 295. new this morning a row home fire in philadelphia has some people out of their homes this morning. one man was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation. the fire started around 11:00 last night around marvine street in logan. three homes are damaged. a man is recovering after firefighters found him inside a house where they just put out a fire. flames hit a row home along 77th avenue and west oak lane last night. after crews got control of the fire, they found a man inside the home. he was suffering from smoke inhalation but is expected to be okay.

and philadelphia police are investigating the shooting death of an 83-year-old woman. police called to the woman's home in germantown yesterday and found her with two gun shot wounds to the chest. investigators confirmed her husband was home at the time of the shooting. they say a gun was found there. police have made no arrests. 6:05. decision 2016, the democratic candidates for president are finished debating in new york. >> that's right. this morning they are thousands of miles away from each other and an ocean apart. senator bernie sanders is heading to rome for a c conference on social policy. they battled it out in brooklyn last night five days before the primary. >> can you name one decision that she made as senator that shows she favored banks because of the money she received? >> secretary clinton was busy giving speeches to goldman sachs for 225,000 a speech. >> he cannot come up with any

news for us. that's why that laugh. >> you feel like it because that's what's happening. we're seeing some of those delays now coming through. look at this behind me this is 95 at state road heading southbound. a bit of a delay around that curve and seeing some of those brake lights. over the next 20 minutes or so we'll see big delays and this drive time will climb up. for right now speeds starting to drop. speeds into the 50s now. starting to move slower than normal. here we are on the northbound side. in conshohocken, watching a vehicle fire on 6th avenue and maple street. traffic still moving through the area. the new jersey turnpike looking good all the way up north and south. southbound towards the delaware memorial bridge no problems there. as for the rest of the area bridges, no problems over the delaware memorial bridge no scheduled openings for now on

you can see ross in these pictures moments after the crash on wednesday. ross was on her way to a performance at the sands event center in bethlehem. police say an suv ran a stop sign and collided with her limo. ross said she's a little sore after that. she did go on with the show in bethlehem and another one in rhode island last night. of course she is, she's a pro. she tweeted this out yesterday. i was involved in a car accident, but i am fine. i ask you not to worry. today marks three years since the boston marathon bombing. the terror attacks near the finish line of the race killed three people and injured more than 260 others. officials will mark the anniversary with a wreath laying at the site. this year's boston marathon is set for monday. today people in new orleans will come together to remember a former nfl player who was shot and killed during a road rage incident. a public viewing and parade is scheduled for will smith. smith was killed saturday night. police say cardell hayes was the trigger man.

will smith played nine seasons for the saints. four soldiers are in the hospital after their army humvee flipped over on the new jersey turnpike. this chopper video shows the scene near east brunswick yesterday. good samaritans stopped there to help. medics airlifted one of the injured soldiers. two other victims are listed in critical condition. it's unclear what caused the accident. 6:17. friday morning. >> jessica, you have a look at the vine street expressway. usually one of the lighter days. closer to the summer we are really dead on fridays, sometimes on monday. fridays are usually the lightest. vine street expressway still looking light. no problems heading westbound towards the schuylkill expressway or eastbound towards

temperatures. we're getting -- going to get a lot of sunshine to start with. 42 degrees, not all that cold in philadelphia. look at the pennsylvania suburbs and south jersey. that 42 is at philadelphia international. there are colder neighborhoods in philadelphia. look at somerton, right at freezing at 32. it's 44 at graduate hospital, parkside is 35. a range of temperatures within philadelphia. like yesterday a frosty start. the frost won't last. sunshine will take over. we'll see a quick warmup this afternoon into the 60s. it's a warming trend that will continue over the weekend. it means that it's not going to get as cold tonight. it will be clear, but temperatures will not be as chilly as tomorrow morning. temperatures in the 40s. the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood. in philadelphia, look at this, south philadelphia, somerton, chestnut hill in the 60s. also in the 60s for the pennsylvania suburbs and the lehigh valley. reading this afternoon, berks county, 66 degrees. bethlehem up to 65.

look at south jersey and the jersey shore. over the last few days, easterly wins coming off the cooler ocean has kept the shore cooler. that's the same story today. you'll enjoy plenty of sunshine for wildwood and atlantic city. trenton, 64. delaware, 66 degrees. looking at the ten-day outlook. seven-day at the bottom of the screen. this exclusive ten-day forecast has us warming into the 60s and into the 70s by sunday afternoon. even warmer on monday. 80 degrees. our first 80 of the year. looking cooler for tuesday. we're on track for another warmup next week. wednesday, 72. upper 70s to near 80 degrees on thursday. a slight chance of a shower. but looking into next weekend, looking pretty nice. the next couple weekends, this weekend, next weekend will be just fine. perfect weather this weekend for the cherry blossom festival.

right now jessica boyington is looking at traffic. >> that's right. we are watching a downed poland wire situation in horsham, a lot of the majors around the area are doing okay. this downed poland wires is from an accident scene that cleared out of the way but now we have a closure because of it. blair mill road closed between welsh road and whitmer. most of the roads and the side streets are doing okay. here's 26th street around penrose avenue. headed towards the platt bridge, everything looks okay. delay around the light but otherwise moving great along the platt bridge. i'll have more updates when i come back in ten minutes. today the bill cosby case has another hearing in philadelphia federal court.

the judge will consider a request by andrea constan, the former temple employee who accuses cosby of sexually assaulting her more than a decade ago. she wants the secrecy clause in her 2006 settlement with cosby lifted. each side says the other violated that pact. in the atlantic city financial crisis, legislation to help the shore town has advanced in the assembly. yesterday lawmakers approved a measure that gives the city up to two years before a full state takeover. in exchange the city's government has to reach certain financial benchmarks. the bill differs from the one the senate passed and that governor chris christie has supported. no crisis yet for the flyers. their quest for the cup has intensified after being shut out in game one against the caps. >> we were all disappointed to see that. fans are not losing hope. today there's a playoff pep rally to get them flyered up. matt delucia is live in south philadelphia with a preview of

>> a lot of people at that watch party looking ahead to the game tomorrow, that's game two. and more importantly game three when the series comes back to philly. hopefully by that time the series will be all tied up. for now live in south philadelphia, i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. we have new video of the aftermath from a deadly ear earthquake in japan. at least nine people are dead following an earthquake there. hundreds more are hurt. residents are bracing for aftershocks. experts say they could occur over the next week. families and doctors from all over the world are in philadelphia to talk about a rare and life threatening disease that affects kids. the children's hospital of philadelphia is hosting a conference congenital hyper insulin level, which can cause low blood sugar leading to caesars, brain damage and death.

c.h.o.p. helps to educate families and doctors who may not be familiar with the disease and symptoms. >> its goal is to really bring up new conversations about new treatments and diagnosis, early diagnosis for children affected by this condition. >> the conference runs through sunday at children's hospital. two days from now, medical marijuana will become law in pennsylvania. >> when governor tom wolf signs the bill it will not take effect until 30 days later. and patients will have to wait longer to access medical marijuana. what's next for patients? over the next six months the department of health will come up with temporary regulations. the department will set up a process for patients to apply for i.d. cards, for doctors to register and for businesses to apply for dispensary licenses. the regulations will become permanent two years after the law takes effect. the dispensaries have to be up and running for patients to get

their medical marijuana prescriptions filled. that will most likely happen one to two years from now. under the law medical marijuana will be available in pills, oils and topical gel form. patients who have cancer, multiple sclerosis or other debilitating diseases are eligible. it is 6:37. new at 6:00, someone possibly on their way to the jersey shore could be a million dollars richer. imagine that. powerball officials say a winning ticket from wednesday's drawing was sold at the farley services plaza on the atlantic city expressway in hammonton. it matched five numbers but not the powerball. it's only worth a million bucks. >> got a million dollar forecast for you neighborhood by neighborhood. we've broken down the forecast for you to give you a detailed look at your day.

five zones, lehigh valley, philadelphia suburbs, center city, south jersey and the jersey shore. you can see a range of temperatures. pennsylvania suburbs at 33 degrees. south jer at 3sey at 31. cold temperatures in delaware. it's 35 in greenville. but we'll see a quick warmup. some areas are warmer. lincoln at 32. but look at lewis and rehoboth beach in the 40s to start with. lots of sunshine on tap. getting a frosty start in the suburbs, but turning warmer. not just today. this will continue right on through the weekend. the jet stream is way to the north. that will allow temperatures to build. the pollen has been building. the oak is high and the forecast keeps it high through the weekend. temperatures will be going higher. if you can deal with the poll you will enjoy some nice, sunny

they attended a flyers game and of course led a championship parade in center city last week. >> yesterday it was vince velasquez's day for the phillies. the rookie pitcher made his first start at citizens bank park and he made it count. velasquez struck out 16 padres on the way to a complete game shutout. it's the most strikeouts by a phillie since cliff lee five years ago. he has the most strikeouts by a phillie in the first two starts with 25. phils win 3-0. first pitch against the nats today at 7:05. also today is jackie robinson day across the country. >> a lot of celebrations going on. major league baseball and organizations in philadelphia will honor the baseball great who broke the color barrier in the big leagues. today is the anniversary of robinson's first major league game with the brooklyn dodgers. april 15, 1947. that year he took home the first rookie of the year award.
