rainfall over the next couple days. i'll go through these forecasts hour by hour so you know to expect that rain when i come back in a few minutes. first, francesca ruscio is watching your traffic. >> good morning, bill. absolutely. drier conditions this morning. here's a live shot of the vine street expressway at broad street working through that morning construction on the vine right now. so far, not a car in sight. it's very early for the heart of rush hour. we're doing okay right now. norristown, an accident at the intersection of dekalb and spruce street. we'll be keeping an eye on that accident. over in new jersey, 295 at route 38, a couple cars early this morning on the roads. traffic is in the green north and southbound, doing okay on 295. we're watching for an accident, in galloway township along route 30. at jimmy eads road. new this morning, police are
investigating a deadly car crash in mercer county. skyforce 10 flew over the scene in edinburg road, hamilton township. it appears a car slammed into this house. police aren't telling us much about what happened here. we'll continue to press for them more details and we'll bring you information as we get it. police are looking for whoever shot a man in the doorway of this home in philadelphia's wissinoming neighborhood. the shooting happened just before midnight on van dyke street. at least ten shots were fired in the money's direction. he died at the hospital. 4:31. now to decision 2016, with more than a month before election day, all eyes are on battleground states like pennsylvania. >> first lady michelle obama is coming to philadelphia today. matt delucia is live on the la salle university campus with details of the visit. tell us more. >> we're just over a month until the election. we've been talking about these
visits from candidates and supporters lately. michelle obama will be here later on today at noon. she will be campaigning for a former first lady hillary clinton who, of course, is rung for the democratic ticket for president. she will be here at the tom goola arena. then she'llç make her way acro the state to pittsburgh. the point of this rally is to lay out what is at stake in november. of course, pennsylvania has been a key focal point in past elections and certainly this one, the most recent polls have both hillary clinton and donald trump at a statistical dead heat here in the keystone state. i spoke with some of the students at la salle who are excited to hear from the first lady. >> super excited. hopefully going to be sitting first row. i know i'll be camping out early in the morning to get there. >> i think this is a monumental time for la salle in general and for her to be coming on top of
it, it's great. it will put la salle on the map and i think it's ben feshl for everyone. >> this is a public event with tickets available on harrisburg had harrisburg's website. michelle obama, she's expected to make her appearance here at the arena at noon. the folks tell me they are going to let in as many people as they can without it becoming a safety issue. they're expecting a big crowd for sure. live in olney, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. both candidates are campaigning in other battleground states. donald trump will hold a rally in iowa, meantime, hillary clinton will appear with bernie sanders at the university of new hampshire. trup is declaring victory in monday night's debate showdown with clinton. here's what he had to say at a rally in florida. >> last night was very exciting and almost every single poll had us winning the debate against crooked hillary clinton big league. big league. >> trump got a financial boost
after the debate. his campaign and the republican party raised around $18 million following the face-off. 4:34. this morning the world is mourning the loss of former israeli president shimon peres. the nobel prize-winning leader has died at the age of 93. he suffered a major stroke two weeks ago. peres is one of israel's admired leaders at home and abroad. he held nearly every senior political office in israel over his seven-decade care. he won a nobel peace price in 1 the 94. his son issued this statement. >> we were privileged to have been part of his private family but today, we the entire country of israel this great loss. >> his father's legacy was to build israel's future with courage and wisdom and an effort to strive for peace.
happening today, a special meeting with will be held to discuss proposals for fixing cheltenham's deteriorating sewer system. the pennsylvania department of environmental protection is mandating that the montgomery county town upgrade the system at a cost of about $80 million. home owners would have to pay for part of that upgrade. the pipes that run between their homes and the sewer system. a large crowd is expected at tonight's meeting, so it will be held at the high school. this weekend wilmington will remember two hero firefighters. >> they died while battling a row home fire. their funerals are on friday. a public memorial will happen saturday afternoon at 1:00 at the chase center on the river front. yesterday firefighters and honor guard members gathered at st. elizabeth church in wilmington to prepare for friday's funeral mass. lieutenant christopher leachç died last saturday morning when the floor collapsed in a burning row home and he was trapped in the basement. firefighter jerry fickes died
within he went in to try to find leach. his funeral is on friday as well. two other wilmington firefighters are recovering from burns at crozer-chester burn center. hope is in stable but critical condition and speakman is in stable condition. the rapid removal from the fire scene and quick treatment was key. >> the most important thing is to get ivs in you, your airway managed and to the closet emergency room as fast as possible. >> more now on the funeral arrangements for the two firefighters killed in saturday's fire. christopher leach's viewing will be at friday at 10:00 a.m. the public viewing will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the grace lutheran church in hockessin. the second viewing happens friday 2:00 to 4:00 followed by

accident along galloway township right now. this is along the white horse pike. this is where we are seeing lane closures, both eastbound and westbound are closed within this stretch of route 30 along west jimmy eads road. here's a live short, i-95 at girard avenue. traffic flow is looking pretty good in and out of the city. southbound, northbound, pretty good on 95. when i come back, we'll take a look at the schuylkill expressway. norristown, at accident at dekalb street and spruce street. we'll take a look at mass transit when i come back. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. 20 minutes before 5:00. heading out right now in cape may, it is clear. no sign of fog here. enland areas are seeing some thick fog. it will disappear.
any sunshine this morning will also disappear this afternoon as clouds roll in, leading to showers developing into the late afternoon and evening hours. a chance of any wet weather first thing this morning is limited far to the southwest. you can see the d.c. area getting some showers and thunderstorms rolling their way. that's part of the activity that i'm watching for later today. also some showers offshore. some of those will be coming inland during the day today. we're starting off with thick fog for coatesville, blue bell has just improved a little bit, a mile and a quarter visibility. dense fog right now in mt. holly. temperatures will be climbing. any fog will disappear. i don't expect to see the fog in philadelphia. but we'll see sunshine before clouds take over this afternoon. 59 degrees right now. 67 at 10:00. into the 70s this afternoon. sunshine in the suburbs will do away with the fog that has formed this morning. then that sunshine takes a break later today with temperatures in the lower 70s this afternoon. the lehigh valley, 49 degrees right now. in the clear, one of the cooler
spots with very little wind, just 3 miles an hour. that's helped with the cooldown this morning. a quick warmup with sunshine to begin with. just like the rest of the area, you'll see increasing clouds this afternoon. by 4:00 today, 73 degrees in the lehigh valley. new jersey, the fog will burn off. we'll get sunshine before the clouds take over and some of the showers develop later today. at the shore, 70 right now. cools down to 65 degrees at 8:00 with some breaks in the clouds, but then the clouds start to move back into the area. they'll be in and out during the day today. just a chance, a slight chance of an afternoon shower, more likely will get showers this evening at the shore. delaware, clear to start with. 60 degrees at 8:00. 73 degrees at noontime. that sunshine will still be on display at 2:00. by 4:00 this afternoon, we're looking at cloudy skies.ç that will lead to some steadier rain. i'll take a look at the extended futurecast to show you when that arrives when i come back in a

if you drive the schuylkill expressway, you know two lanes is too few for the amount of traffic that that handles every day. >> penndot has a plan to improve travel along i-76 between philadelphia and king of prussia. that plan includes the opening shoulder -- opening shoulder of the highway in some areas during peak times. penndot will add more signs showing delays. the transit group will monitor ramps so they don't back up. penndot wants to consider mass transit. septa will beef up service from
norristown to center city and improve the station in conshohocken. the suggestions sound promising to drivers who are often stuck in stop and go traffic. >> does sound like a good idea. i don't take it that often only because it's usually jammed up, especially where i get on in conshohocken. >> penndot says they have to widen shoulders and even them out. it mayç take five years. at some point they hope to extend to three lanes all way into the city. drivers, is this man going to help your kplut commute? our twitter addresses are there on the screen for you. 4:46 and 59 degrees. officials in california are calling for calm after police shot an african-american man to death on a busy street. protesters gatheredality the site in el cajon where police say the man was shot while acting erratically and failing to comply with officers' orders. the man was not armed but
witness video shows the man pulled an object from his pocket and pointed it at the officers. during tuesday night's debate, donald trump -- monday night, he would revive a controversial police tactic called stop and frisk. it allows officers to stop people on the street and search them. a judge declared new york's stop and frisk program unconstitutional because it discriminated against minority. philadelphia also used the technique. it's a hot button issue. the group power interface protested outside the philadelphia federation of police. >> if we can do things in a productive, intelligent, civil manner, using words, i think we go a long way in solving problems. >> the pennsylvania aclu sued
philadelphia some years ago over police use of stop and frisk. mayor jim kenney and the police commissioner are working on ways to eliminate the tactic. 4:48. the ceo of wells fargo is forfeiting tens of millions of dollars as the bank launches its own investigation into a phony account scandal. john stump says he'll forgo 41 million in stock awards. he'll appear before the house financial services committee today. wells fargo has already agreed to pay $185 million to settle allegations to its employees who opened up accounts without customers' permission. a former port authority executive has told a jury that new jersey governor chris christie was told about the lane closures at the george washington bridge in 2013 as they were happening. david wildstein testified for a third day yesterday in the so-called bridgegate trial. two of christie's former allies, bridget kelly and bill baroni are charged with conspiracy and fraud in connection with the lane closures. wildstein said he and baroni told christie about the traffic

most of the area, running cooler than yesterday. look at allentown. 49 degrees. 53 in mt. holly and 53 in vineland. vineland is 16 degrees cooler this morning compared to yesterday. down by 10 in philadelphia, off by 13 for trenton and mt. holly and wilmington is 12 degrees cooler this start with. sunshine, though, we will get some. the temperatures back in the 70s this afternoon. but it's not going to be sunny all day. radar and satellite shows some showers just to our southwest. it's the beginning of what is going to be a damp period. we could be in for some very steady rain. big area of low pressure is still spinning to our west. that's going to draw showers up into the area during the day today. we'll see scattered showers. look at this, tomorrow morning, this time we'll see heavy downpours developing in the suburbs and into the lehigh valley. and the rain will be coming down in philadelphia and south jersey. that won't be the end of the rain. the chance of showers will be lingering as we go through the day tomorrow. that's 9:00 in the morning.

good morning, everyone. watching the roads over new jersey right now at the intersection of route 42 and route 41 in deptford, new jersey. traffic flows looks pretty good. not a whole lot of cars out on the road. we are watching an accident along the white horse pike. i'll have more on that when i'm back in the next several minutes. abington township police say red light cameras appear to be making drivers more cautious. cameras were installed at four intersections in the township two years ago. since then, police say the number of people running red lights is down 48% and crashes have dropped 30%. >> some hometown heroes have received special recognition in montgomery county. nbc 10 was at the montgomery county courthouse plaza in norristown yesterday for a ceremony to replace the hometown hero banners of fallen veteransç >> our courageous nen and women all share a common bond of the armed forces. duty and sacrifice, they shall
not be forgotten. >> county commissioners were joined by american gold star mother and the families of 17 montgomery county veterans who gave their lives in service to our country. a university here in philadelphia has announced it will not increase tuition next year. instead, it will cut tuition by nearly 30%. la salle university announced it will reset tuition from $40,000 to just under 29,000. however, there will also be a drop in financial aid. most students won't actually see the full $11,000 in savings per year. still, the university hopes the tuition cut will convince middle-class families that they can afford la salle. and happening today, camden county officials will offer flu shots to seniors at a health fair. seniors can get shots at 12:30 at jack curtis stadium at cooper river park. this is the first of many clinics that will be held to provide free vaccines to all of its residents. we're hearing from tom hanks

as well. it is lightning as you go to the south. clear skies in wildwood and dover. not everybody is seeing the fog. the fog will disappear once the temperatures are climbing. it's just dropped to 53 degrees in the suburbs, 48 degrees in the lehigh valley. just shy of 60 in philadelphia and south jersey and delaware. delaware seeing scattered fog, 55 degrees right now. and the temperatures a little bit cooler in harmony hills. cooler temperatures you get the fog forming. where it is warmer, you're unlikely to see the fog. dewey bech ach at 70 degrees ri now. there are changes to are this afternoon and might require an umbrella. right now, dry conditions for many of us. woodhaven road, east/westbound traffic looks good. not a lot of cars on the roadways right now. driving into the city, we see a
