why the internet giant could owe you a refund tonight. >> announcer: nbc10 news starts now. the chill is on. get ready for frost to start your weekend. we are tracking temperatures in the 30s. you can see from the flag on the right side of your screen that wind is picking up, making it feel even colder. good evening. i'm jacqueline london. >> and i'm jim rosenfield. tomorrow is going to feel more like winter than fall. let's get the details from nbc10 first alert chief meteorologist glen hurricane schwartz. how cold, glenn in. >> it's already pretty cold outside. by tomorrow morning, it's going to feel like the 20s in parts of the area. lincoln financial field, by the time they're playing sunday afternoon, though, it will be 30 degrees warmer than that. right now, we're already in the 30s in allentown. 33 in mount pocono. 39 in coatesville. 43 in philadelphia. again we have wind still at 16 miles an hour in millville, 15
in atlantic city adding to the chill. there will be some wind by saturday morning when you get up. not as much wind as what we've seen this evening. but it doesn't take much with a 32-degree temperature to feel like it's in the 20s. allentown's temperature itself at 29 degrees. then we barely get through the 40s during the day tomorrow. that's about 10 degrees below normal. then there's some big changes after that. i'll have those details coming in a few minutes. >> see you soon, glenn. new at 11:00, a pregnant woman and a man are in the hospital tonight after they were shot at a cookout in hunting park. it happened just after 7:00 tonight at the corner of eighth and lucerne streets. police say the woman was shot in the stomach. she's in stable condition, but we have no word on the condition of her unborn child. the man is expected to be okay. there have been no arrests. tonight turmoil at the university of pennsylvania after black students became victims of racist messages. >> nbc10's brandon hudson is live on penn's campus.
this is sparking outrage all over the city. >> reporter: jim and jacqueline, even the mayor weighed in on this. he condemned those messages. in the last few minutes, we saw governor tom wolf send out a tweet echoing those same sentiments. black students are shocked and heart broken, but they're not surprised. they believe this came from the same rhetoric used in this year's presidential election. heartbroken and hurt. this large group of black university of penn students walked inside huntsman hall for a town hall meeting. it was in response to the racist messages aimed at black freshmen posted on the social media app group me. >> i just felt like uncomfortable. >> reporter: nate says he saw the messages when he woke up this morning. >> what was said is we're going to find and hunt down african-americans at this college and universities, and like they said they made an event, a calendar event saying it's lynch day. >> reporter: a student shared this screen grab. we blurred out where a user
posted a racial slur. a college republicans group on campus called the messages, quote, absolutely despicable. meanwhile, the university released a statement saying, quote, our police and information security staff are trying to locate the exact source and see what steps can be taken to cut the account off. word spread quickly across campus. we met two med school students who weren't targeted but made a sign in protest. >> they're very new to this campus. their parents might be far away but we want them to understand you are not doing this alone. >> reporter: about an hour later, we saw a part of the community unified as they grieved and worked to come up with a response. >> it's very cowardly, and i just want you to know that black students here and black people largely across the world are very resilient and this is not going to break down our spirit. >> reporter: the university says this is traced to a user in oklahoma, but they don't have the identity of that user at this time. off camera, i spoke to the president of black men at penn.
he told me that whoever did this should sit down with the students they hurt. live here at university of penn, i'm brandon hudson, nbc10 news. today we learned some new details about the transition to president-elect trump, and it looks like new jersey's governor is getting a demotion. >> governor christie is no longer heading up the transition process. instead, he's taking a back seat to vice president-elect mike pence. nbc10's drew smith is live in the breaking news center with a look at what this means for christie ae political future. >> good evening. late tonight trump's campaign manager said christie led the team very well. he will continue as vice chair of this transition, but experts say the fact he's no longer in charge is clearly bad news for the governor. >> i have the smartest people. >> reporter: chris christie stood by donald trump through the general election campaign, even when it wasn't popular. >> i just don't like the fact that he backed trump. >> reporter: it originally earned him the top spot on the transition team. >> governor chris christie, folks, was unbelievable.
>> reporter: but his presence on the trail faded after the convictions of two former aides in the bridgegate scandal. tonight, team trump says christie remains involved in the transition process. but as of this afternoon, mike pence is the one in charge. >> he's not going to be the vice president of the united states, so having him at the top of the pyramid makes sense. >> reporter: cameras did not spot christie at trump tower today, but in a statement, he wrote, i am proud to have run the pre-election phase of the transition team along with a thoroughly professional and dedicated team of people. >> why have extra distractions? right now, christie could be an extra distraction given his own political situation right now in new jersey. >> reporter: in the heart of camden, there isn't much sympathy. >> i really don't like governor christie as a lot of new jerseyans. don't. >> reporter: a source close to the transition tells nbc news today's developments do not put christie out of the running for a top position, which could include attorney general or chief of staff, a move some people in the garden state may
actually welcome. >> i feel like jersey would be in a better place if there was a new governor. >> reporter: analysts say the trump team may be cautious with christie when it comes to a cabinet appointment. they may not want the bridgegate case retried in the u.s. senate during a potential confirmation hearing. jim? >> drew smith, thank you. for a third straight night, anti-trump protesters took to the streets of philadelphia. skyforce10 was overhead as hundreds marched here near market street right in center city. many held signs speaking out against the president-elect. police were on hand the entire time to escort the protesters. president-elect trump is changing his tone when it comes to the affordable care act. in an interview with "the wall street journal," trump said he is considering keeping two of the law's most popular provisions. one allows adult children to stay on their parents' health insurance plans. the other would forbid insurance companies from refusing to cover preexisting conditions. however, the president-elect says he will still replace the
law, popularly known as obamacare. >> we're going to repeal and replace it. we're not going to have like a two-day period, and we're not going to have a two-year period where there's nothing. it will be repealed and replaced, and we'll know. and it will be great health care for much less money. >> 100,000 people signed up for the affordable care act the day after the election. 22 million people rely on the law for health care. hillary clinton made her first public appearance tonight since conceding the race for president. the former democratic nominee showed up at a campaign staff party at a hotel in brooklyn. it came hours after she made a heartfelt call to volunteers. >> this is a hard loss for all of us because we know what was at stake in this election, and we've got to do everything we can to continue to support the causes that we believe in.
>> clinton went on to say the outpouring of support over the last few days has lifted her spirits. honoring those who have sacrificed so much for our country today, president obama paid tribute to veterans at arlington national cemetery. >> he laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns for the last time as president while his president obama also called for unity following a divisive presidential election. >> the american instinct has never been to find isolation and opposite corners. it is to find strength in our common creed, to forge unity from our great diversity. >> vice president-elect mike pence attended a veterans day ceremony in his home state of indiana. he thanked veterans across the country for their courage, then assured them of the trump
administration's commitment to reforming the v.a. our veterans were honored here at home as well. volunteers served homeless veterans a hot meal tonight. it's part of the group's effort to serve 150,000 meals to the homeless across our region every year. it started as a traffic stop, but then the driver took off with the officer hanging from the window. what happened next that has the encounter under investigation. something fishy on facebook. why the social media site started killing off its users today. and female-friendly car repair. how a new company is catering specifically to women. glenn. and i'm tracking a cold blast for at least a part of the weekend. plus a storm that could bring rain to our area. i'll have all the details in my nbc10 first alert neighborhood forecast.

plowed into parked cars. this was back on october 29th. the suspect then tries to run off and is shot during a fight with the officer. in the video, you can hear the officer say he was unaware that his weapon had gone off. the suspect, edmund brown, is now in jail. investigators are working to determine if the shooting was justified. so you may be alive and well, but today facebook had other thoughts. a glitch caused the social media giant to wrongly turn many facebook pages into memorials. it happened to nbc10 digital reporter vince lattanzio, who captured the mistake. the message at the top encouraged people to remember and share their memories. the glitch reached the highest levels, even declaring facebook ceo mark zuckerberg dead. facebook apologized for the error. it has since been fixed. very glad that our vince lattanzio is okay. >> we are glad he's alive and well. tens of millions of dollars. >> that's how much amazon has to refund some of its customers tonight. a federal judge has ordered the
company to reimburse parents whose children made in-app purchases without permission. it comes after the federal trade commission claimed amazon made it too easy for kids to rack up large bills while playing free games. the ftc settled similar cases against google and apple in 2014. new at 11:00, women spend an estimated $200 billion a year buying and repairing their cars, but many say the process of having a car repaired can be daunting and uncomfortable. well, that's why a local woman decided to change all that. it's an auto repair shop for women, by women, that pampers you while you wait. ♪ fast, furious, and female. the excitement is over a first of its kind shop, a girls auto clinic repair center in upper darby called clutch. for ladies who may not love getting their car serviced, this

like 25 in pottstown, 26 in doylestown. 28 in trenton. 27 in dover. it's going to be cold to start off the day. it's not going to warm up a lot either. by 11:00 a.m., it's still feeling like the 30s in parts of the area. in the afternoon, the peak heating time of the day, it's still going to feel like the 40s. some places, barely 40. but we're going to be seeing a lot of sunshine both saturday and sunday. of course some wind chills in the 20s saturday morning. sunday morning is going to be pretty chilly too. and then monday night and tuesday, the next rain is expected. so in between all of that, for the eagles on sunday, that's the best weather of the whole weekend. we have less wind, lots of sunshine, up near 60 degrees at kickoff. only dropping a few degrees by the end of the game. that's some nice timing there because there's quite a difference in the temperature between saturday and sunday, about 10 degrees. lehigh valley doesn't even get to 50 tomorrow.
