a shooting in broad daylight! what a witness says she saw after a man opened fire in mount airy. plus ... missing for nearly a month ...the plea for information from the family of a falmouth woman ... not seen since january. and ... the push for super tuesday ... and beyond .. governor kasich campaigns for votes in tennessee ... but he's got ohio on his mind! a 24-year-old man is recovering after being shot 'twice' -- those shots rang out in the mid-afternoon sunshine ... not far from a grocery store in mount airy .... 9 on your side's rose-ann aragon spoke with
investigators and a witness and joins us now live from the scene. police say the shooting happened right here at the parking lot of this vacant building near the collegian food mart -- police say the victim was a 24- year-old shot twice -- a shot grazed his head-- the second went through his shoulder-- the victim then ran around building nearby and called police shortly after --we spoke with a witness who says -- she was shocked. 23-30lutish martin"when we pulled up we saw a guy laying on the ground. his face was covered in blood and a young lady was seemingly helping him. trying to help him." him."police believe the shooting was drug related. the victim is expected to survive. now the shooter is on the run-- police say he was wearing all black and hopped into a car before leaving the scene--police ask that anyone iwth information call crimestoppers. reporting live
ra 9 on your side. this afternoon firefighters battled a fire at a northside apartment building ... ...fire officials say the fire started inside an apartment kitchen on the third floor of the north side flats on kentucky ave ...then spread to a second apartment. firefighters say they saw heavy fire at the back of the building when they arrived. they don't know if there were any smoke alarms inside those apartments.several people had to evacuate the building .... but no one was hurt...the red cross is helping three displaced people find places to stay. temperatures are on the move up! lower 50s today and near 70 sunday. the warm up does come with a price. a cold front will bring gusty winds sunday and a chance of late rain. but for the time being, skies will be mostly clear tonight and lows quite comfortable near 40.sunday, you'll notice breezy conditions as soon as you step
out the door. winds will gust out of the southwest upwards to 35 mph with even a few higher gusts to 40 mph. this may pose problems on the roadways for high profile vehicles so use caution. also, check around your homes for items that could blow around and secure them. the southwest flow will take temperatures to the mid and upper 60s. we may even see a 70 degree reading. a cold front will move through the ohio valley late sunday and we pick up a chance of rain that looks fairly light. the rain should be gone by temperatures stay mild behind the front and winds will become light again. the next chance of moderate rain showers arrive tuesday. we're looking at more gusty winds followed by colder temperatures and chance for light snow showers behind the system. we'll keep a chance of rain in the forecast wednesday and early thursday as well. with colder temps at night, some of that moisture will likely be snow showers but we're not expecting snow to be significant and all of
a young man was found dead after a car crash early this morning on westwood northern boulevard.and an official close to the investigation tells 9 on your side the driver was 'shot' before the crash. crash.police say the 21 year old lost control of the car and veered off near mchenry ave into a wooded area ... where the car caught fire. officers found him dead at the scene ... they're still trying to notify family and haven't released his name. in court this morning ... a man accused of trying to secretly record video inside a bathroom at bethesda north hospital ... now facing a voyeurism charge. charge.police say yesterday the victim discovered a cell phone hidden in the bathroom and reported it to security ... who confiscated the phone. not long after ... the suspect daniel schantz told security he'd lost his phone ... and
came to claim it. that's when police say he showed security officers the video recorded in the restroom.he was arraigned on 5 thousand dollars bond today. a northern kentucky famiily continues its search. search.today family and friends of tara turner ... as well as people from the community who wanted to help ... met and searched for any sign of her...the 31 year old has been missing for nearly a month ... family members say she was supposed to be dropped off at the california crossroads... so that's where they focused their two mile search radius.her mother told 9 on your side ... there is one thing that keeps her going while her daughter's missing. her children ...... i just can't give up up tara is described as 5 foot 5 and 110 pounds with long dark hair and brown eyes.if you have any information, call

more than a thousand high schoolers sacrificed their sleep to raise money for pediatric cancer research last night. night.students from 24 tri-state high schools raised 146 thousand and 25 dollars for the "night for the fight" fundraiser at the cintas center.that money will go to cancer free kids ... a non- profit that funds pediatric cancer research. it's also a 50 percent increase over their fundraising total from last year. they say good help is hard to find. not if you're will thomas. thomas. today volunteer workers with "people working cooperatively" continued work at thomas' roselawn home...to enable him to get around. among other things, installing safety railings so that he can get around. thomas, once a pastor who was very active in the community, developed severe arthritis. people working cooperatively

it done today in greenville north carolina. carolina.east carolina is one of those bad teams that can annoy you...prince williams from the corner and the pirates have the lead-then it looked like uc would run away with this game...on consecutive plays, freshman jacob evans hit three pointers and uc was ahead by 9.-when gary clark made this steal and lobbed it down the floor to kevin johnson....the bearcats lead was 13 points.-it didn't look like things would change in thme second half.....uc was doing most things right...again it's evans throwing down a missed shot- and when troy caupain dropped in a long three point shot.....uc's was up by 16 points and ready to board the bus-it changed in a hurry....east carolina started to throw up three's......this made it a four point game..the pirates closed to within two.- but then jacobs hit the backbreaker...how big is this kid?....uc leads by seven with three minutes to go-and caupain finished by sweeeping across the lane...he had 27 points as the cats won it...they finish the regular
xavier, coming off the big win over villanova, plays sunday at seton hall. gametime is 12:30 in newark. and here's highlights from early on in nashivlle otday when the kentucky wildcats were playing vanderbilt.....a nd this game has just gone final.,,....the vanderbilt commodores with a very impressive come from behind victory over kentucky 74 to 62, to the a-c-c, louiisville was at number 12 miami...trey lewis gives the cardinals a five point lead in the second half.-but louiisville hit a 5 minute stretch without scoring a point....miami scored 12 consecutive points and beat louisville 73 to 65. what has come over the redhawks of miami....they suspended a few players aweek ago for a game...and they've come back with a vengence. they beat ball state at midweek and they followed that up with a 74 to 65 victory over kent today at home. eric washington had 16 points.
flyers were at home today-but it was rhode island red hot...they hit 57 percent of their shots in the first half including the buzzer beater...they led by 13.-to the second half....charles cooke of dayton connects from the corner...it's a ten point game....-but the flyers weren't good on defense...they' ve lost three of their last today. another state championship is coming back this way.....details when sports
it was 1978...the third year that girls played basketball in indiana when jac cen del went to the state finals. they came up second best. not today. today.the jac cen del lady eagles of osgood indiana were in the class one-a finals against the argos lady dragons.....-it didn't take long for the eagles to jump ahead...argos didn't cover abby wagner....that was a mistake-and then watch the pressure create problems....jac cen del was started to open up a lead.- into the second quarter, jac cen del showed its depth..inside and out...it's abby wagner dropping another three.-they did a great job in moving the ball from side to side and inside and out..this is mariah day with a push.-jac cen del went on a 13 to 3 run in that second quarter and took a 14 point lead at halftime.-here's how the
