we start at 5 with a cbs 58 exclusive... the family of a milwaukee teenager.. killed in a car crash.. wants to make sure the driver of that car never gets behind the wheel again. shawn oliver was killed in the accident earlier this month at 27th and capitol. that's where cbs 58's julie parise is live this morning with the new details. julie? police say this intersection is where shawn oliver took his very last breath. he was killed when officers say the car he was a passenger in tried to pe instead hit another car 18-year-old samira coleman-willks was behind the wheel of a chevrolet. according to the criminal complaint, officers unsucessfully tried to pull her over second before that crash.butshe instead sped off -- going 83 miles per hour. seconds later, officers say they heard a large crash sound and saw a large cloud of smoke. oliver was found lying on the ground without a pulse. his family tells us - he had never met coleman-willks

wrong place at the wrong time. he was loved by everyone. he was loved. shawn was a good kid. there was another person injured in the accident -- he is still recovering in the hospital. according to a search warrant -- there was marijuana found in coleman-willks' car after the crash. she says she doesn't remember anything about the accidentshawn oliver's funeral happens tomorrow. live in milwaukee i'm julie parise cb 58 3 there's renewed talk about tougher drunk driving laws..after a caledonia father and daughter were killed in a crash last week.this is the second drunk driving arrest for 25-year-old "levi ruo- honen" who appeared in court yesterday... on charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. vehicle.police say he was drinking at a strip club and drove his pick up into the back of a car driven by 39 year old kevin dalley..killing him..his nine year old emily

court records show.. in the past.. flowers was accused of domestic violence against the baby's mother. milwaukee police are asking for help in identifying several people wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a george webb. webb.surveillance video shows them in the restaurant near 21st and mitchell street last tuesday.police say they stole money from the cash register.. and also took money and a cell phone from a customer.they all left in a black four-door car. if you have any information ...call milwaukee police. community members and police in milwaukee "one-on-one" in an effort to build trust and ease tension. but the conversations are coming to an end. listening circes between the community and police have been happening in some milwaukee niehgbohoods since the spring. and last night was the final session for the year in the amani neighborhood. now community members hope they can get funding to keep them going. 07:28:25 i feel that me and m community and the officers are maing a difference. people dont always see the change that we are making but as long as the community sees it we will be fine. 07:28:350:45:20

community and police at the same time, is what does it mean to be treated with respect. 06:45:27 06:45:27 the ziedler group is applying for grants. they put the listening circles together in several neighborhoods-- including harambee and metcalfe park.if you'd like to learn more about funding opportunities... we have more information on our website-- cbs 58 dot com. if they get funding to continue the program next year..the goal is to expand. we spoke to the sherman park neighborhood association and they say they are interested in possibly having these sessions there too. 3 now to a developing story.. wisconsin's presidential recount will start thursday... but that's ?only if the green party's jill stein can cut a check for three pont five million dollars by 4-30 this af. afternoon.cbs 58's kyle aevermann joins us live from the newsroom with a closer look at the recount effort. kyle? stein also filed another lawsuit requiring the recount be done by hand. by law, the recount needs to be finished by december 13. the election commision says is going to be tight for many

election commission, which is made up of 3 republicans and 3 democrats, set a timeline for getting those ballots recounted.they spent monday compiling an estimated cost-- which jill stein will need to pay in full by 4:30 today. then wednesday-- county clerks will be trained on how to conduct the recount-- which will start thursday.but the election commission does not expect the outcome to change by much. 00;30;46 it will be very interesting to see how many ov 3 approrpriate. if nothing else this will give us a very good audit it's going to reassure wisconsin voters that we have a fair system each presidential candidate can send observers to every county to oversee the process and the public is also welcome to observe. coming up in our next half hour, we'll also talk about how else you can

students and staff at ohio state university. university.police say "abdul- razak ali artan" drove a car into a crowd and stabbed at least 11 people on the school's columbus campus yesterday morning.here is one of the disturbing 9-1-1 calls. caller: "this guy...we were all standing outside and the fire alarm went off. this guy in a honda civic came out, ran through the crowd, jumped out of his car and started chasing down people with a knife. he was running down woodruff. and that's all i seen. oh my god." operator: "okay. listen. we're on what he's wearing?"caller: "i think he's dead. i'm looking at him now. never mind." operator: "you think he's dead?"caller: " i just see him by the police."operator: "did we shoot him?"caller: "i can't tell. i ran away when it all ha" happened." the attacker was shot and killed by a university police officer.the incident is being investigated as an act of terror. in california - three people are dead and five others are sick after a thanksgiving meal. health officials are trying to figure out how it happened. happened.a local church

american legion hall. all eight elderly victims were admitted to the hospital between friday and saturday. they appeared to have food-borne illnesses. some 835 people ate the same food. part of it was prepared by volunteers... and some donated by local restaurants. is now closed through the summer of 2018 for reconstruction. the on ramp from greenfield ave. to i- 3 a dozen troubled sea turtles, rescued in cape cod, are now in south carolina being nursed back to health.the turtles were flown from boston this weekend.. after they were found cold stunned in frigid wa. waters.it's a condition similar to hypothermia.and the timing is right...south carolina's aquarium in charleston has a brand new sea turtle recovery center. biologists t turtles after star wars characters, including leia, kylo and luke.the smallest of the bunch is yoda, weighing one and a half poundsthe turtles will stay at the hospital until they are 100 percent healthy. 3 at a california animal sanctuary - otters and children are swimming together. but this isn't just a cute romp in the pool - it's a form of therapy.chris martinez explains. rudy giuliani. 3 milwaukee county sheriff david clarke met with president-elect donald trump last night.when leaving trump tower he did not answer any questions... but did give the cameras a thumbs up.he declared on the cbs 58 news at four months ago that he was interested in homeland security. a source close to trump tells political reporters he could find a place in the president-elect's cabinet. 3 authorities in ohio are trying to figure out what motivated a somali refugee...to carry out a bloody knife attack at ohio e yesterday. at least 11 people were hurt. a university police officer shot and killed the suspect. hena daniels has the latest on the investigation. -nats-students at ohio state university came together in prayer last night...many had memories of monday's campus rampage fresh on their minds. minds.(sot clara young/ osu student) we were moved to a classroom in the basement that could lock// it was kind of scary because we didn't know much and couldn't get service -nats-ambulances people on campus barricaded themselves

interchanges as well as those on and off ramps.the i-41/us-45 sb will be closed at bluemound rd. through the zoo interchange for roadwork. the i-894/i-41 nb stretch will be closed at greenfield ave. through the zoo for road and electrical work.drivers take note that the water st. bridge leading into the historic third ward is now closed until december 16th 2016. the bridge will undergo some upgrades to its locking system. drivers should use alternates to get around this closure.another reminder that the i-41/894 sb exit ramp to greenfield ave. is now closed through the summf reconstruction. the on ramp from greenfield ave. to i- 41/894 sb will close through the fall of 2017. also closing long term, the lincoln ave. exit ramp from i-894 sb is expected to remain that way through summer of 2018. traffic along the i-894 southbound corridor will shift to the west or right side of the roadway starting at lincoln ave.a reminder that the i-41/us-45 sb systerm ramp to i-94 eb is now closed long term until spring 2017. this will have an impact on your morning drive.drivers will want use the following detours. watertown plank rd to hwy 100 and rejoin at the

with cold temperatures on the way... milwaukee county is teaming up with milwaukee's health department to create more warm and safe places for the homeless in the city. they're calling on all community agencies to offer up their spaces as temporary warm shelters. "no one--let me repeat no one in milwaukee should spend the night in the cold weather in this cold winter." 3 the county's efforts decreased chronic homelessness 75- percent last year.their goal is to get that number to 100- percent this year. the salvation army of milwaukee county needs your help. the organization is hoping to hire 50 people to ring bells for its red kettle campaign. they need volunteers to help during the day... between now and christmas.those daytime hours are typically the toughest shifts to fill.the salvation army says if there are not enough volunteers... it may not reach its fundraising goal.
