right now donald trump has a 5- point lead on ted cruz, and our senator, marco rubio is in third place, and on the democratic side, hillary virtually tied. the search for a missing boater will resume off the coast of clear water. crews found the man's boat but did not find the boater. according to the missing man's wife, he's suicidal. california is waking up to a big mess this morning after a deadly storm moved across the state with strong winds, heavy state with strong winds, heavy rain, and snow. at least one person died on sunday when a tree fell across four lanes of traffic, and now the storm is moving east, threatening colorado. now turning things over to bryan bennett. >> reporter: it's a warm start. we had a cool january by average, but february will start above average. right now, gayle, temperatures middle 60s for the bay area.

here's a quick look at i-4 at macintosh road. i have activity on busch boulevard. more coming up in my next report. back to gene and gayle. thank you, sarasota police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a bicyclist. it happened north of fruitville road at 7:15 last night. ryan hughes is live at the sarasota police department this morning. any leads in the case yet? >> reporter: gene, good morning to you. not that we know of at this point, but police at the sarasota police department hope someone knows something that will help them crack the case. we have a photo of the mangled bicycle to show you. according to police, a man on the bike was riding between 6th and 8th streets when the driver hit the bike and kept going. the bicyclist was taken to sarasota memorial hospital and later died sadly. here's the vehicle involved in

described as a dark-colored front-end damage. if you have any information on sarasota police. i'm working to get more details on the case, and we are working to determine the identity of the driver involved, gene, and once we find out more, we will let you know. >> thank you. the search is on for carjackers in tampa, on the run after the police cruiser chasing them crashed. news channel 8 east lindsey mast -- 8's lindsey mastis is live. it's believed they have been on a crime spree since friday? >> reporter: that's right. i have been talking to police officers here at police headquarters. so far there's been no arrests in the case. the carjackers actually abandoned the vehicle after the officer crashed, and the police believe that they used the car

take a look at this map on your screen, and the criminals carjacked the vehicle from a woman on friday, just before 10:00 p.m. on north central avenue and east kirby street. they abandoned it 3 miles away and take a look at this. the police officer pursuing the car lost control and crashed. the police officer went to the hospital with minor injuries, and according to tampa place, three carjackers took the vehicle by opening the door to her car and pointing a semiautomatic handgun to her, ordering her out, and they drove off. luckily she was not hurt. i have been asking for descriptions of the suspects this morning, and as soon as we have information, we will let you know. we know right now that all carjackers are male, and anyone with information is urged to department. >> we have to get these guys

this morning palmetto police need your help to help solve a deadly shooting case. the body of colin mahoney was found in an abandoned home. police were checking the home after neighbors were complaining people were coming and going from the house. in hillsborough county, the search continues for two falconberg academy. anthony baez and anthony cookee got out through a hole they -- cooke got out through a hole they cut in the fence. the man you can see here on your screen, kenneth kabraw is facing a dui manslaughter charge this morning. he hit a motorcyclist who died

happening today, the zika virus could be declared a global health emergency. a rare meeting will be health to discuss ways to battle the virus. it's feared the people affected in 23 countries and territories in central and south america could eventually reach 4 million. the mosquito-born virus can cause health defects. the investigative report of the amtrak train detrailment in philadelphia will be released today. the ntsb has yet to say why the train was going so fast rounding the curve. the corrections officer who fired his gun during a fight at the denver motorcycle show this weekend claims it was in self- defense. attorneys for two bikers groups
