temperatures, yes, they're above average, but we haven't gotten into the uncomfortable range yet. so temple terrace, you're at 64, largo 66 degrees. a little cooler in brandon at 57. we've seen a little bit of light fog in a few spots, but not very widespread. dade city, you're 63. wesley chapel, you're 64 degrees. so let's take you through the sky cast. here's the way it'll look when you look up in the sky today, plenty of blue sky, just a little bit of cloud cover, warm and breezy and a high of 86. tonight mostly clear, comf slight change for tomorrow. a couple more clouds and i added in a 10% rain chance with a high of 85. so at 6:08, i'll take you hour by hour through the day and weather and traffic on the 8s and leslee is going to get you out the door. >>reporter: that's right, a good drive overall out the door. let's take a look at the few problem spots we do have going on. they're both in pasco county. zooming in here, no delays, but nonetheless, state route 54 at grand boulevard we do have an accident. looks like a tiny slowdown there eastbound at seven

19 at fox hollow drive, no delays, but an accident that is off to the side of the roadway. and then just maybe in the right lane as well. all right. let's take a look here, howard frankland looks great as cross it. it's only going to take you six munts here. more vehicles here 275 coming through at about hillsborough avenue. that's a look at weather and traffic. back to gene and gayle. >> okay, leslee. we are following breaking news this morning. the search continues for a dad who vanished while on an afternoon jet skiing trip with when the dad just disappeared. that boy was found on an island wondering what happened to his dad. news channel 8's ryan hughes is following this breaking story for us this morning from the banks of the alafia river. ryan, good morning. do diseapts know what happened here to the father? >>reporter: -- do deputies know what happened here to the father? >>reporter: gene, good morning to you once again. william george morris was on the river here behind me with his son when he vanished. now hillsborough deputies are trying to find out what happened and they're trying to

after the 3-year-old was rescued. he was wrapped in a blanket, as you can see. deputies found him on an island known by locals as island 75 in the middle of the river. his mom called the man's cell phone after the two failed to come home and the boy answered on facetime, explaining his dad was gone. then a passerby noticed a child alone on the island and stayed with the boy until help arrived. the jet ski was located on the south side of the island pulled up on a bank with an adult life neighbors described river conditions. listen here. >> the river next to kings, as tide goes out, there's almost white caps at some point. so, i mean, it's easy to get drug under water if you're not careful or you're not a strong, avid swimmer. >>reporter: kind of scary to hear. and, again, the search will resume for the man once the sun comes up. we will be here, gene, we will bring the very latest details as soon as we get them. back to you. >> okay, we'll stay on top of

unprecedented event today right here in the bay area. both hillary clinton and her husband, former president bill clinton will be here campaigning on both sides of the bay. let's take a live look now from dade city where hillary clinton will hold her rally today. looks quiet now, but it'll be very busy, the election exactly one week from today. unbelievable. news channel 8's meredyth censullo joins us now from our tampa news center. so, meredy latest? >>reporter: well, gayle, this is proof of just how important the tampa bay area is to this election. hillary clinton and former president bill clinton will be here urging early voting. recent polls show hillary clinton and donald trump dloked in florida. the -- deadlocked in florida. the tampa bay area is key to winning our state. for days the clintons have been barn storming ohio, another state where she and trump are running a tight race.

trump's inabilities to be commander in chief, attacking his relationship with russia and targeting trump's economic plans. >> a foreign adversary trying to influence our presidential election, that should scare everyone, democrat, republican and independent. donald trump should immediately disclose all of his ties and connections to the kremlin and its associates. >> prosperity, we know requires growing this economy from the middle out and the bottom up, and if you do it, people on the top will do just fine, thank you very much. >>reporter: the clintons are trying to shift focus away from recent developments and hillary clinton's e-mail scandal. the fbi is sifting through thousands of e-mails found on a computer used by clinton's top aide. it is unknown if those e-mails are new or copies of e-mails that have already been

criticism of fbi director james comey, questioning the timing of the investigation and reiterating that she has nothing to hide. hillary clinton will be at pasco hernando state college east campus in dade city. doors open at 1:00 and the event starts at 3:00. bill clinton will speak at jet jackson rec center wildwood park in st. pete, doors opening there at 5:30 for a 6:30 event. news channel 8 will carry both gayle. >> we are a hot spot, just a week before the election. thanks, mere. as for donald trump, he will be in pennsylvania and wisconsin today, then back to florida for four stops over two days, tomorrow and thursday, including one in orlando. yesterday, though, he held two rallies in michigan, predicting a win there and hammering clinton on her e-mails. >> how can hillary manage this country when she can't even

she is a terrible example for my son and for the children in this country. >> meanwhile trump's running mate mike pence was in clearwater last night speaking at st. petersburg-clearwater international airport. during the rally, the power went out, the lights stayed out, but the audio eventually came back. but that did not stop pence from continuing on. the real clear politics polling average shows trump and clinton tied here in flori, "new york times-"cnn poll out on sunday shows trump up by four. well, ohio governor john kasich early voted monday and not for donald trump or hillary clinton. instead he wrote in senator john mccain. case sich announced a month ago that he would not vote for trump after audiotapes surfaced of trump bragging about groping women. and a reminder, early voting is under way right now across the bay area.

voted. another 141,000 have voted by mail. in pinellas county, more than 30,000 people have voted early and 302,000 have voted by mail, a virtually even number of democrats and republicans, by the way. many bay area voters are outraged after receiving political robo calls at 4:00 a.m. on a sunday morning. the calls made from a 3 number came from -- from the tallahassee nu the drug-free florida coalition. it asks voters to vote against the marijuana medical legislation. getting a call at 4:00 a.m. is not sitting well with the voters. >> 4:39 in the morning [ phone ringing ] >> usually when the phone rings at 4:00 in the morning, it's somebody's deceased or somebody's in jail. >> the group apologized through their social media pages sunday, saying, quote, it was not our intention to have those calls made at that hour and explained they were supposed to

those in the bay area as the cross bay ferry sets sail for the very first time today. news channel 8's mary mcguire joins us live now from st. pete. mary, we know it can be aggravating to sit in traffic on those bridge, sometimes for hours, really, if it's during rush hour. so how long is it going to take to get across the bay if we're riding and just cruising across on a ferry? >>reporter: yes. we both know how annoying it can be to sit in that traffic, and to take this ferry from downtown st. pete over to the tampa nv will take about 50 minutes. so it is longer than taking a bridge across, but something tells me that this commute will be a whole lot more beautiful. now, this cross-bay ferry is the brain child of st. pete mayor rick crisman who assistance convinced the city council to toss in $350,000 to get this project going, along with identical contributions from tampa, hillsboro county and pinellas county governments. stft pete also contributed another $100,000 in startup costs and to create this

six-month trial run. >> a sense of the wind blowing through your hair, the sense of it's fun and there's no better way to arrive into a new city than to get off of a dock instead of out of a car. >>reporter: now, this ferry will operate seven days a week except for holidays and runs from the venoy basin here in st. pete to the tampa convention center. now, tickets will cost $10 for adults and kids over the age of 3, that will be $8. but if you do want to try out this ferry for free, have the chance to. frontier communications is offering free rides on this ferry the third sunday of every month from now until april. so if you want to test it out, you can come out here on the third sunday of every month and have a free ferry ride, and we will see if this becomes a permanent fixture here in tampa bay, gene. >> yeah, it's going to take some convincing for those people that aren't so sure about it, so maybe that free ride just as a test is a good idea for them to give it a try.

of the pulse nightclub shooting were released monday. the city of orlando and some family members of the victims tried to block that release, saying the calls would be too painful to hear. in them mateen hangs up on the police negotiator more than a dozen times. he also takes responsibility for he'd done. >> i want to let you know i'm in orlando and i did the shooting. >> what's your name? >> my name allegiance to abu bakr al- baghdadi of the islamic state. >> throughout the calls mateen repeatedly said he committed the attack to stop u.s. air strikes on iraq and syria. 49 people died and at least 68 were injured during the shooting. well, volunteering is a way to put our unique talents to use in a meaningful way and those talents may provide some comforts to families at a life- change time.

another layer of kindness and generosity like that is beautiful. >>reporter: yeah, absolutely. >> thanks, mere. 6:18. let's get a check on the weather with leigh. >> this morning, 1st day of november, we are starting out comfortable, just above average. 68 degrees by 8:00 a.m., lots of sunshine, a fast warmup because of that sun, 81 degrees at noon. warm and breezy again, but dry with a high of 86 degrees. right now it's 67 in tampa, so it's comfortable, but, again, above average. 71 in st. pete. you're 60 in pleech, 68 in zephyr hills. i checked out with my weather watcher in oldsmar. he says it's 68 degrees at his house right now, so a pleasant morning. there are spotty areas with light fog. nothing too thick right now, but i'm keeping an eye on it for you. during date you'll get this breeze and rain chances above average. rain chances out of the forecast today, but i add it back in, just a 10% chance for a quick light shower because we're continueing to get this breeze off the atlantic ocean.

wells fargo is coughing up more money after regulators say the bank overcharged its customers. this time the banking giant is accused of overcharging homeowners for appraisal fees. appraisals are typically $30 or less, but wells fargo was charging at least three times that amount. the bank will $50 million in fines. an open enrollment begins today for obamacare. from today until the end of january, people can sign up for the affordable care act insurance. now, this year consumers are facing higher premiums and fewer insurers. estimates indicate more than more than a million people will have to pick a new insurance carrier because their current insurer is getting out of the obamacare exchange.

something bizarre happened. crews scoured the area last night, unfortunately to no avail. now, this is video of the 3- year-old wrapped in a blanket after he was rescued from an island known by locals as island 75 and the alafia river. as i mentioned, he was all alone and managed to answer a facetime call from his mom on his dad's cell phone. the man has been identified by authorities as william george morris, 38 years old of riverview. a passerby noticed the child alone on the island and stayed with the the jet ski was located on the south side of the island, pulled up on a bank with an adult life jacket on the jet ski. hillsborough deputies got a call around 6:00 last night when the dad and son failed to return home after a jet skiing trip, and that's when they began their search. neighbors were sad, of course, to hear the news. listen here. >> i know she's very heartbroken. i mean, she has to be wondering and just have so many questions, and i just -- i don't know. i hope they get their answers

rally yesterday in michigan. well, today the republican nominee will campaign in philadelphia where his focus is expected to be on obamacare. trump's running mate campaigned in clearwater last night. governor mike pence spoke to a crowd at the st. petersburg- clearwater international airport, undeterred by a power outage. pence assured supporters he's in this race to win it. >> don't be fooled. this race is on. and we are wheel to wheel, and we are polls in florida, and we're gonna fight all the way to the checkered flag! [ cheers ] >> there was a slight mishap during the pence rally. about 10 minutes into the event the lights went out. pence improvised with a rolled up poster and a megaphone while a small light was aimed at the podium. donald trump's former campaign manager is the focus of an fbi inquiry. sources tell nbc news the fbi is looking into paul manafort's

ent crime, including gun violence, rape, and domestic abuse. andrew warren for state attorney. it's time for new leadership. it's 6:44 on this tuesday. and happening today, after months of planning between four local governments all around the bay area, the cross-bay ferry f the first time. our mary mcguire joins us live now in st. pete. now, mary, this is a $1.5 million project. so what's it going to cost us to take a ride across the bay? >>reporter: well, gene, like you just mentioned, a lot of money went into making sure this ferry could be possible, so organizers want to make sure that it is financially viable for a long period of time and part of that is making sure that trips on this ferry are affordable. tickets are just $10 for adults

the brain child of st. pete's mayor, rick crisman who convinced the city council to toss in $350,000 to get this project going, along with identical contributions from tampa, hillsboro county and pinellas county governments. st. pete also contributed another $100,000 in startup costs and to create this docking facility, all for the six-month trial run. >> it is a pilot test project, and i think commuters will give it a test. it's going to -- because it's a six-month project, so we're asking them to give up their cars. we're asking them to try a different way and to experience it for themselves. >>reporter: now, the ferry will operate seven days a week except for holidays and takes about 50 minutes to transit tampa bay from the venoy basin in st. pete to the tampa convention center. the ferry holds 149 people on it and it will be open to the public beginning on friday. but news channel 8 is going to

and we will give you a sneak peek of everything that you can expect on the ferry coming up in our later newscasts. gene. >> looking forward to seeing that. mary, thank you. well, new this morning, two men are shot in a neighborhood in tampa. the gunfire erupted in the 3200 block of east deluhl avenue overnight. one man is expected to survive, the other victim is listed in critical condition. investigators are now working to figure out what life halloween nightmare. you've got to listen to this. police say a man dressed as freddie krueger from "the nightmare on elm street" movies opened fire at a halloween party in san antonio, texas. four men and a woman were injured. now, police say the shooter is one of two men who showed up inner uninvited at the party, and this morning he is still on the loose. well, a halloween hay ride in mississippi turned deadly. a vehicle hit a flatbed trailer carrying people on a hay ride in the town of chunkie.

border. two children and an adult died in that crash. several other people were hurt. investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the crash. this morning an investigation into a deadly gas explosion in alabama, look at this. the blast sent flames and smoke shooting into the sky. look at the flames right there taken from ryan budderes there on his cell phone. this happened along the colonial pipeline about 25 miles southwest of birmingham. one worker died and at least investigators don't know what caused the explosion. right now colonial pipeline's main lines are shut down. now, in september a leak in the same area as this explosion caused gas shortages across the south. and comedian bill cosby is headed to court this morning for a pretrial hearing in pennsylvania. the case against cosby centers around a former temple university employee who claims cosby drugged an molested her back in 2004.

sworn statements from 13 other women who accused the comedian of doing the same thing to them. but cosby's attorneys are expected to argue that those other women's memories may be flawed or perhaps influenced by media coverage. the trial is set to start in june. new zika concerns this morning. a new study suggests the virus could affect fer tillity in men. so far scientists know that that's true in male mice. scientists at washington university in st. louis found thate virus had a tougher time reproducing. now they're trying to determine if the same thing is also true in humans. the time right now is 6:48. let's turn things over to leighspann this morning. it looks like it's going to be another great day. >> not a bad start to november. it's still dark out there. remember, the sun won't rise for almost an hour, although it'll start to brighten up here in 40 minutes or so. this is the famous take camera in brandon where it's 64 degrees.

yesterday. 68 degrees once that sun does come up around 8:00 a.m. we get to 81 at noon, so a fast warmup. not many clouds. we get above average, 86, sunny and breezy by the arch right around 4:00 p.m. 58 degrees in brooksville. comfortable in tampa at 67, 64 in clearwater, 65 in fish hawk. sarasota you're starting your day at 67. and i checked in with my weather watcher patty in new port richey. she says it's 64 degrees. let's talk about the long-range forecast. today verymi from the east and lots of sunshine. do i add in a small rain chance for both wednesday and thursday, still breezy with these winds coming out of the east. it's not until friday when we get this long-range change. 20% rain chance when the front comes through, but it will bring some cooler air. temperatures go back below average, so 86 today, 85 tomorrow and 84 thursday. highs in the 70s this weekend and we fall back. so you turn those clocks back saturday night.

sleep. >>reporter: looking forward to that. i could use that right now, actually. let's take a look at traffic right here. as you're waking up, folks, look at this, southbound 275 really starting to come busy coming away from bearss and this is right through hillsborough. also want to show you i-4 coming away from ybor city starting to hit those brakes. checking out travel times, we're up to a a half an hour. that's actually much heavier than normal for this time of the morning from bearss avenue to i-4. usually it's about 18 minutes at this point. so people definitely hitting the roads early. ybor city 12 minutes, so traffic a little bit ie and 275. of course the veterans expressway still looks very good. we're also a little bit slow westbound i-4 coming away from the plant city area. now, out here in pasco county, southbound we do have a lane taken away on little road. again, southbound right at state road 54, so keep that in mind. also a crash eastbound on the selmon expressway near euclid. it's off to the shoulder and i'm not seeing any delays there. great drive right now across the howard frankland bridge. that's a look at weather and
