good morning, it's monday, february 22nd. thanks for starting your day off with good day virginia. i'm kyle benjamin. and i'm january keaton. happening in matter of hours, parents and community leaders will come together at northside high school for a public meeting. this after accusations of misconduct, violence and missing money. school district officials say the rumors and accusations are not true! questions arose at the school back on february 12th after longtime principal frank dent suddenly resigned citing personal and family reasons. then days later, dent's assistant principal amy puckett asks to be reassigned. she had been with the school district in that role for nearly two years.

threat of violence against the school prompted increased security and parents getting no prior notification. that left many parents with unanswered questions and school leaders allowing execused absences at both the middle school and the high school. as wfxr's bill wadell reports, while many unanswered questions do remain with both parents and students, officials say they're doing what they can to ease concerns. 00:00 - 00:0500:20 - 00:25 tom mccracken "i as well have heard embezzlement and fraud and all these other things and the rumors get juicy."tom control. he and other roanoke county school board members - are getting an earful online. the first complaint - parents weren't notified fast enough - about a threat of violence at northside high last week. billy spence "i'd rather play it safe than sorry, you know. if they could have got it out quicker, that had been nice." billy spence kept his kids home friday. police determined - the threat - was not credible. mccracken says - an alert was posted on facebook - but there were no phone calls or text messages to parents.

in campbell county:a woman now faces reckless driving charges after a three -car crash sends five people to the hospital. that crash happpened just before 4 p-m sunday afternoon on route 29.police say megan barrett did not slow down in time and rear-ended another car--forcing it into oncoming traffic--where another car hit it. police charged barrett with reckless driving. hargrave military academy in chatham will reopen this morning after someone posted isis related threats towards the school online. hargrave

speakers, participating in interactive workshops and panel discussions. they will bring all of that information back to patients here in the roanoke valley. dr. alice ackerman is a peditrician at carillion. she has been attending this conference for about 20 years. she says-- it's one thing to read up on the latest research on medicine, but it's another to be in the room and talking with the people who are actually doing the reasearch. she also says the conference reassures her about the work they are already doing at carilion. many of the things that i 've heard about this year are things that we are already doing in roanoke. the way that we treat children with severe respiratory diseases is right there. we are really doing everything that is reccomended and that the experts say yeah this is how we should do it. the conference organized by the society of critical care

a father of two is accused of going on a shooting spree in kalamazoo, michigan.police say jason dalton killed six people and injured two others while making rounds as an uber driver. authorities say it appears dalton chose his victims, who ranged in age from 14 to 74 at random.fox's kelly wright has continuing coverage. a michigan community is grieving after a gunman goes on a shooting spree ... killing at least six people and injuring two others. the violence breaking out saturday night in the city of kalamazoo. getting says: "there is no connection that we are aware of between the three sets of victims to each other or any of the victims to mr. dalton." according to officials ... 45- year old jason dalton shot five people outside a cracker barrel restaurant ... including a fourteen year old girl .... before killing a father and son outside a kia dealership. a woman was also shot outside of an apartment complex.fletter says: "a bunch of people just came out and started helping her. i was like, 'oh, jeez. this lady got shot.'" dalton ... who was taken into custody sunday morning ... had no criminal record and worked as an uber driver. a man who had been a passenger in dalton's vehicle hours before the shootings says he could tell something was wrong.mellen says: "we got a mile from my house and then he got a telephone call and after he got that telephone call he started driving really erratically. we were running

bill cosby's wife will give her deposition in a defamation suit against him later today. the comedian's attorneys are still fighting to stop it, but at this point -- the deposition is expected to go ahead at 9-o'clock.eight woman sued cosby for defamation.they claim he portrayed them as liars after they publicly accused him of sexual assault. cosby denies any wrondgoing.he faces separate criminal charges for sexual assault in pennsylvania as well. new this morning. are you getting enough sleep? a new study reveals that a third of americans are not. the centers for disease control and prevention analyzed data from more than 4- hundred thousand people in all 50 states. hundreds of thousands reported getting less than the recommended seven hours or more a day. lack of sleep can be associated with health issues like diabetes, heart disease and mental illness. the c-d-c says this study is the first one to examine sleep hours on a state level. southeastern states and those along the appalachian mountaisn reported the least
