make-up days coming up. 3 as you decide 20-16---- 3 the countdown to the caucuses! formal voting begins in iowa in just a few hours--the first in the nation to cast ballots in the republican and democratic races!this is a live look in iowa...where at 8 eastern time...more than a thousand sites will open across the state...and voters will turn out to support their favorite candidate. 3 but if you've never lived in a state that uses the caucus system.. you may be unfamiliar with the way it works. 3 ryan nobles breaks down the process. 3 3 3 3 3 unlike a traditional primary- where you just show up and cast your ballot.. a caucus takes a bit more work... and the iowa caucus is no different. first up.. the process doesn't even begin until seven p-m central time.. that's when iowans will gather at more than 1 thousand sites across the state. for the republicans the caucus-goers

precinct captains stumping for specific candidates.. then they cast their ballots and go home. for the democrats it is a bit more complicated.they too hear speeches on behalf of the candidates.. but after the speeches, the caucus-goers split up in the room to area's representing 3 their candidate of preference.. they take a head count.. and candidates with less than 15 percent are kicked out. those kicked out voters can still participate.. by offering their support up to the remaining candidates. the delegates available at that particular caucus site will then be split up among the candidates based on the percentage of support.the precinct chairs then phone the results into the state which tabulates the results. there will be a winner.. but every remaining candidate who receives votes can earn

depties are investigating the death of a 17-month-old boy. boy.deputies were called to underwood road jususbefore 4-30 yesterday morning for a medical call involving an unresponsive toddler.they tell us first reponders tried to revive the toddler...but he died on the scene just before 5 a-m.right now...we're told detectives are waiting on preliminary findings of an autopsy being performed today. the boy's name has not been released.we're continuing to follow the very latest with this case...and will bring you any developments on air and online at foxcarolina.com. 3 now to a story you'll see only on fox---- 3 an anderson county woman says her family is devasted after someone shot her dog to death inside their fenced yardthis is charlie...his owners say early saturday morning they heard some noise outside their home on mcalister rd in williamston...then a loud pop when they went outside they found charlie dead 3 the family says they belive

3 in may of 20-14...police say officers shined a light inside a car that was heard playing loud music in the parking lot of the shemwood crossing apartment complex.that's when they say johnson drove off-- hitting one officer and rolling over another's leg. johnson was arrested a week later in georgia. georgia.originally johnson was charged with attempted murder...but the charged was later reduced to assault.a judge sentenced johnson to 20 years in prison...suspended to 7 years...with credit for time already served. 3 new this afternoon...we're learning more about a deadly shooting in mauldin over the weekend that landed three teens are behind bars. bars.mauldin police have charged 19 year olds trevonte watts and william newton with murder and several other charges.police say the third suspect is a 15 year old girl, who's also charged with murder. murder.investigators say they were involved in the ssoting death of savon allen on

night.police say it happened in the parking lot of the bojangles on east butler road. investigators say the shooting was drug related... but no further details have been released. 3 greenville police are investigating after animal control got a tip that someone may be poisoning animals in the grove road area. area.police and animal services were called after a woman says she found a dead cat in her front yard.two weeks later...animal services says they found another sick cat in the area.that cat later died.police say they're looking into the possibility of animal cruelty...and that the investigation is ongoing. 3 police are looking for the suspect behind a string of car breaeains outside a spartanburg gym. gym.police say they were called to "gold's gym" on east main street around 7 friday night...after a witness leaving the gym told police they saw a man breaking into a car.the witness says the man was wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants.police tell us in total...four cars were broken

3 a former upstate high school player- now a carolina panther is headed to the super bowl---- 3 he played football.. basketball.. and became a track stand- out in high school.he's also the only player on the 2006 greenwood state championshipteam to play both defense and offense..and now.. josh norman is becoming a household name. 3 he's a star corner- back with the carolina panthers...and his former coaches in greenwood .. say they're proud. proud.fox carolina's jennifer phillips has more onjosh norman's journey from the bench to the super bowl and why he never gives up.
