3 welcome back to the morning news on fox carolina.we're looking live at usc upstate 3 leaders with the greenville county school district say they are no longer punishing students with zero's on their homework. homework.the new policy is based on a proposal scheduled to go into effect next fall. this new "no-zero" grading practice is already being implemented in test schools. students with incomplete work...caught cheating on tests or plagiarizing must be given at least a 61, which is a failing grade.leaders say they hope the new policy will allow students to redeem themselves much faster than if they got a zero.one principal says the new policy has been a success.but some parents say they do not agree with the policy at all.

papay, chris scott with pit crew traffic. 3 welcome back to the morning news on fox carolina.you are looking live over 85 and pelham road. 3 3 all new this morning... one person is recovering after a fire at a motel in greenville. the gantt fire department responded to the country hearth inn on bruce road just before 5:00 this morning.we're told it appears the fire started with a heater in an empty room.crews say someone from a nearby room got burned while trying to put out the flames.no one else was hurt. 3 3 covering our counties-- deputies in spartanburg county say a suspect in an armed robbery is locked up.. but they're still looking for his accomplice. accomplice.they need yoururhelp to find matthew hemphill. deputies think he may be driving a '97 or 2007 burgundy bmw sedan.investigators say hemphill was identified by the

robbery.investigators say zavion anderson admitted to the crime.he is behind bars this morning. morning.deputies say the two were caught on surveillance robbing the scotchman convenience store on north blackstock road back on january 31st.if you know where matthew hemphill is.. you're asked to call 1-888-crime-sc. 3 people in pickens county are protesting a plan to dispose coal ash in a local landfill. and now state lawmakers are also getting involved. involved.residents are asking d-hec to reject a proposal from the company "mmr pickens llc" to dump thousands of tons of coal ash at a landfill in liberty.neighbors and county councilmembers are concerned about the health and environmental impact.on thursday.. the south carolina house passed a bill to limit where coal ash can be dumped.a similar bill has been introduced in the state e senate. we'll be following these bills and we'll let you know what happens. 3 3 it is going to be bitter cold tomorrow morning..but when you ehad outside tomorrow..don't grab your winter jacket..get your swim trunks..
