today, the rising water came close to homes already damaged by the historic floods in october. mike desumma is live in the pine glen neighborhood off of bush river road. he joins us now with more. mike for some of the homeowners there this

it is charles especially when you consider that months after those major floods in the fall many people here are still in the rebuilding process. you can see some of these homes on carinbrook drive behind me which are no there's a creek that sits behind the homes. that creek like many spots feeds off of lake murray where sce&g opened emergency spill gates overnight --- as more water flowed down from the upstate. that in turn caused more water to flow downstream winding up in people's backyards. for some residents it's a really hard thing to see. some told me they're currently going through the permitting process with the county putting down money and trying to do what's necessary to rebuild their homes. they said seeing this water rising again --- just makes them want to rethink the whole plan. "i mean every time it rains if we have to worry about it flooding like this with them

umm.i just can't imagine always having to worry about carrying my kids through the water every time it rains." area first responders have been on the scene here in pine glen throughout the day. irmo fire came and did a check this morning just to make sure no one was inside these homes. the lexington county sheriff's department is on scene at this hour to keep an eye on the water levels in case they get any higher. live in lexington county, mike

utility officials say there's no reason to panic, even as more water is being released from lake murray. sce&g has the lake murray spill gate partially open. the spill gate from the lake murray dam was open around 4 this morning because the lake can't exceed it's licensed operating level of 360 feet -- which it was about two feet shy of before the spill gate was opened. officials with sce&g say they are simply releasing water to make way for all the rain, and water expected to flow into the lake over the next few days. the catawba river basin is experiencing significantly high runoff with the additional rainfall is the area. lake wylie has a gate partially open with additional gate openings at fishing creek. lake wateree is rising and is expected to spill for several following a huge fire in dubai multiple explosions rocked the address hotel this afternoon--early reports

fourteen people are injured. new year's celebrations continued as scheduled in downtown dubai--a fireworks display still took place across the plaza at the burj khalifa--hundreds are gathered there for the fireworks show. at this point officials say they have contained the fire at the 63 story building for the most part. officials say they believe the fire started on the 20th floor of the building. the cause has not yet been determined the convicted ascot estates double murderer will stay in prison. the convicted ascot estates double murderer will stay in prison. a state appeals court has rejected brett parker's appeal of his conviction. in 2013 parker was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison for the killings of his wife tammy jo and his business partner bryan capnerhurst in the parker's home in ascot estates near irmo. parker had tried to appeal is conviction claiming the

one expert witness testify and in giving instructions to the jury. yesterday, the appeals court ruled there were no mistakes sufficient to overturn his conviction and parker's conviction stands. columbia police have filed charges against medal of honor recipient kyle carpenter in connection with a hit and run accident earlier this month. jack kuenzie joins us live from the spot in downtown columbia where the incident took place. charles---it happened december 8th here at the intersection of assembly and blossom. police say war hero and medal of honor recipient kyle carpenter was driving, making a left turn when he hit a pedestrian---and then left the scene. police indicated both carpenter and the victim identified as 18 year old michael haddad were heading west on blossom. carpenter in an unspecified vehicle, the victim walking in the crosswalk on the way to the strom thurmond wellness center. police say the 26 year old

made an improper turn into the ooside lane of assembly and struck the victim who had the crossing signal in his favor. after the contact, police say carpenter pulled over and turned on his hazard flashers---but did not get out of the vehicle. the victim stood up and continued walking to the gym---and police say carpenter then drove away going south on assembly. haddad suffered scrapes and a leg injury, but the injuries were treated by ems at the scene and he was not taken to a hospital. police looked at surveillance video and spoke to witnesses---and then identified carpenter as the suspect. his name did not appear on the cpd incident report. carpenter did later give a statement to police---and they say he has fully cooperated. carpenter appeared with his attorney in municipal court this morning. he's charged with hit and run involving injury and making an improper turn and after being booked at alvin glenn, is free on a personal recognizance bond. police say there's no evidence either man was under the influence of any substances.

phone this afternoon. jack kuenzie wis news ten. richland county sheriff's deputies are looking for two men who ripped off a construction site and they want you to see if you recognize them. they got into the scene on longcreek plantation drive in blythewood, shortly after 7 in the morning on a saturday december 19th. the men stole tools and copper wire from a home under construction. according to investigators, the men entered the property by cutting a lock. anyone with informaiton is asked to call crimestoppers at one triple eight crime s-c. two gang members already locked up the alvin s. glenn detention center are facing new charges for assaulting a guard there. investigators with the richland county sheriff's office say shawn eric moody junior and brendan wallace threw urine on a guard while shouting gang slogans. they'rereow charged with criminal conspiracy, threatening life of a public employee and throwing bodily fluids on a correctional

deputies say this is the second round of arrests made at the jail involving gang members. the orangeburg county sheriff's departmemt is investigating why one of its deputies shot a dog. early this morning, deputies were responding to a call of shots fired shots fired on stilton road when they say a pit bull charged one of them in a quote "extremely aggressive manner." one deputy shot the dog in the leg, then realized the dog was on a chain. animal control took the dog to a local veterinarian to be the orange bowl has started and clemson fans are on the edge of their seats. the game is on espn. joe gorchow reports from florida. a sea of orange invades south beach to ring in the new year. clemson fans turning sun life stadium in miami... into their own death valley...
