there are still many unanswered questions...when it comes to the investigation into the shooting.. that took place august 13th near 44th and auer. police say body camera footage--which has not yet been released -- clearly shows smith holding a handgun and turning towards an officer when he was shot. two days of unrest followed the shooting...violence...looting... and arson. but the group milwaukee matters... coordinating the funeral....says today's service is not about the how and why...it is about supporting smith's instead of a repass or reception after the funeral smith's family has opted for a peace in the park event that will be tomorrow from 10am- 10 pm. ..on auer between 42nd and 43rd.. there will be music, food and fellowship to celebrate smith's life and take back the park. reporting live in milwaukee deandra

it's a story making national headlines - two catholic nuns... found murdered in a home in mississippi where they lived. now - fox 6 news has learned one of the nuns had a connection to milwaukee. angelica explains in studio. sister margaret held and another catholic nun from kentucky were found stabbed inside their home after they didn't show up at a clinic where they worked. both were nurse practitioners in central mississippi. we are told held had worked in rural mississippi since 1975. school sisters of st. francis, on milwaukee's south side. the other sisters were told about her death at a mass yesterday and they are devastated. the community will pull together, pray together, remember her life and ministry and all the many thousands of lives that shes touched through her life of care. thats what well remember and thats what well be celebrating. the school sisters of st. francis are in the process of

service that will be open to the public. meantime, the investigation into the double homicide is on-going. happening now - the medical examiner's office is investigating... after a two year old died near 13th and finn. police say the boy was found unresponsive... after being put down for a nap by his mother yesterday. emergency crews tried to save the child at the scene - but he died. an autopsy is scheduled for later today. also happening now - firefighters explosion levelend a home in dane county. the blast happened last night in fitchburg. it was so big-- it damaged at least 20 other homes... and three families have been displaced. one person-- believed to be the homeowner was hurt. no word how seriously. the chief says he's asked the state fire marshal to come and investigate the cause. he also wouldn't rule out involvement from federal agencies like the a- t-f. we're edging closer and closer... to the deadline for new motions to be filed

10th birthday. police in albuquerque have arrested three people - including the girl's mother -michelle martens - and her boyfriend. they say martens and the boyfriend... 31-year-old fabian gonzales... confessed to injecting victoria martens with meth to "make her calm down" during the assault... before he and his cousin jessica kelley then stabbed and strangled her. police found the child's body wrapped in a blanket at an apartment complex. federal and state authorities in new york... seize more than 65 pounds of blow to drug sales across the northeast. 65 pounds... equates to roughly two- point-three million dollars worth of heroin wholesale. federal agents say the drugs were transported in the axle of a tractor trailer that traveled from mexico. two people were arrested. the bust comes as america's heroin epidemic grows worse-- there have been recent overdose outbreaks in ohio, indiana, west virginia and florida. breaking business news. how many jobs could be cut as a

search efforts. one aftershock yesterday crumbled some buildings that had already been cracked - prompting authorities to close roads... and even six hours ago - shortly after midnight... the u-s geological survey said a quake with a 4-point-7 magnitude struck the area. officials say it will take weeks to get back to normal in parts of kokomo, indiana... as the cleanup efforts get into full swing today. more than seven thousand people are still waking up without power this morning. hundreds were also left without homes. roughly 225 people stayed at a makeshift red cross disaster relief shelter in kokomo last night... where more than 100 volunteers were on hand to help families get back on their feet. ''theyre good to you here. theyre really good to you here. but its not like home.' 'ive grown up in kokomo and when i saw what happened all over the city i thought ok, ive got to do something.' the red cross is not only providing shelter - but also food and medical

attention...after the unrest that followed in the sherman park neighborhood. we're expecting a large crowd at the funeral this morning...including some out of towners... one well known face...reverend jesse jackson...who will officiate the funeral sylville smith's death brought tensions in the sherman park neighborhood to a head... angry crowds took to the streets..clashing with police businesses were looted and down and a curfew was put in place. department of justice officials...continue to investigate the circumstances that led up to...and that followed the shooting. they have not yet released the officer's body camera footage...which police say shows smith was armed with a gun when he was shot. amidst all of this...smith's family will try to heal today..as they bury their son. the group milwaukee matters...is coordinating the funeral. they stepped in to support them during the unrest. "i have volunteers that come in, you know, a psychologist came

came in to speak with the family to prepare them as a bridge between the violence and knowing that there are going to be next steps that are going to take time, they're going to have to be patient, but we can work through this." the visitation begins at 10. the funeral is at noon. tomorrow the family will hold a "peace in the park" event on auer between 42nd and 43rd. reporting live at 86th and good hope, deandra corinthios fox6 news. and a funeral will be held today for a hit and run victim in milwaukee. 22-year-old tyann tie-anne bunch was crossing the street at 23rd and fond du lac when she was hit by a car last week. the driver kept going for about a block-- and then got out and ran away. bunch's funeral will be at 11 this morning at bethel tabernacle.. happening now - police are investigating after a man was shot - suffering a critical injury.

they say a 20-year-old man... was in a car with a 23-year-old man - who was driving. when they reached 29th and michigan - the two men got out of the car for a shootout with a group in that area. the 20 year old was shot - and taken to a local hospital for treatment. police say they grabbed the victim and driver's guns after responding... but the other group of shooters got away. at this time... the search for the shooter is still going on. another investigation underway - after a house near 38th and villard went up in flames. the 8:30 last night. neighbors say a mother, her three children and a dog made it out safely. no word on the cause. breaking overnight - 8 policemen... killed in a blast in turkey. we are just getting video in to the newsroom of the deadly explosion. angelica's following this story in studio. eight policemen died... and 45 other people were injured at a police checkpoint along the turkish-syrian border. the attack happened as a truck filled with explosives drove up to the checkpoint... which was next to

last month. zaibak says the suspects are the same four people... hz 'im like, god, these people have been in the pharmacy more often than i have recently!' ...and theyre always looking for the same drugs: hz 'specifically looking for promethazine with codeine.' its a strong cough medication... usually prescribed for a day or two... and can be highly addictive. hz 'they are using it to get high.' most of the break-ins are happening after hours. wednesday night alone, three hayat locations were hit. at 54th and capitol... a fed-up employee - hz 'its not something i would ever enc --wrestled one of the suspects to the ground. milwaukee police arrested a 20-year old man. at the greenfield location early thursday morning... the suspects trash the place! managers have taken the extra precaution of putting the promethazine with codeine locked in a safe... much to the dismay of these guys. hz 'they caught them right in front of the building.' zaibak says greenfield police arrested two more suspects. even after thousands of dollars in damages... broken widows... replaced

zaibaks kindness remains intact. hz 'we forgive these people. we are not in the business of hating people.' again, this pharmacy chain now only keeps this particular drug in a locked safe. milwaukee police say they are still looking for that remaining suspect. reporting in milwaukee, bl, fox6 news. meanwhile... right now - milwaukeep investigating four armed robberies... that happened in a matter of three hours. it all started near u-w-m around 1:15 yesterday morning. 3 young women were held at gunpoint-- and their purses were stolen. then... at 2:30-- two 22-year-olds were targeted on water street and brady a couple hours later-- a 23-year-old was robbed on cass street near lyon. and finally at humboldt and pleasant-- a man and a woman were threatened with a knife. police believe the robberies could be connected. witnesses described similar suspects-- and they occurred in very close proximity. but so far-- no

3-5 mph traffic check red on traffic map = major delays yellow on traffic map = some delays green on traffic map = no delays happening today - sylville smith will be laid to rest. he's the man whose death prompted violent protests. milwaukee police officer earlier this month. smith's funeral will be held at christian faith fellowship church. a spokesman says the focus will be on the family as they say good-bye to their loved one. reverend jesse jackson will be officiating. also happening today - a racine man who was bitten by a sheriff's k-9 officer... will be in court. thomas brucker faces charges of manufacturing and delivering heroin. after racine investigators closed in on brucker's home in a number of drug deals... they executed a search warrant there back in may.

- and was caught by a k-9. he continued to resist arrest. a woman named stephanie darge was also charged in connection to the case. happening now - indiana is cleaning up... after several tornadoes ripped through the state. one of the hardest hit areas is kokomo, where a twister hit the town with winds of more than 135 miles per hour. angelica's in the newsroom with a look at the damage. the national weather service says the twister that slammed into kokomo was an e-f-3... traveling nearly 5 miles on the city's wednesday. it was roughly 300 yards wide and lasted 10 minutes... destroying homes and leveling a starbucks near a mall. the tornado outbreak that swept across the hoosier state came roughly a week after another big outbreak hit the state... with nine tornadoes. so far... at least seven have been confirmed this week - but survey crews expect that tally to increase. indiana governor mike pence took a break from campaigning for the white house... to visit the

he visited that starbucks that was seen falling down in cell phone video wednesday... where miraculously- no one was injured. the governor says indiana is working with federal partners... to make sure kokomo and other communities will have what they need. it's just very moving to me to talk to these families. family members who were in their homes and to see these homes virtually completely destroyed. because of people's quick thinking, a good early warning system here locally. no serious injuries. no loss of life. to ease back into the campaign trail today - by attending the grand opening of his campaign's indiana headquarters in carmel, indiana. and speaking of the presidential race - donald trump scrambles... to make one of the ballots for november. minnesota republicans discovered their nominee wasn't on the ballot yet on wednesday - leaving the g-o-p until monday to submit the names of 10 electors who will
