good evening guys. this is where brendan dassey is locked up. what's happening in court can be best described as a court tug of war. dassey's fate-- now facing a friday deadline. will this be one of the last night's brendan dassey spends behind bars? outside the columbia correctional institution in around the state are on prison watch. dassey's conviction for his role in the rape and murder of tersea halbach was thrown out in august. wednesday-- a judge upholding his ruling from earlier in the week that dassey must be set free no later than friday night. only prison employees have been seen leaving so far. the fate of dassey's freedom-- still unclear after the state

keep him locked up. state prosecutors have asked a higher court-- the 7th circuit of appeals in chicago-- to keep dassey in prison as his case works through the courts. attorney general brad schimel argues the lower court did not have the authority to order dassey's release, and doing so would cause irreparably harm to the case. dassey's attorney says the state has not argued why they think dassey is a danger to the community. he's prolly scratching on the walls wanting to get out. brad dassey-- brendan's half brother is hopeful this is his relative's final hours in prison. the family, receiving messages of support from around the world after the case was highlighted on the hit netflix o murderer. it's ending--- is still in progress. it's one step closer, and one step back. the state is got their do their thing and they are fighting but we want him out this week. so-- a federal judge has ruled dassey must be released before 8 p-m friday. that will stand-- unless the court of appeals makes a different ruling. they don't have a lot of time. we're following all of these

to a fatal shooting... it happened at around four oclock wednesday afternoon. mr 'i heard seven shots.' michael rode was in the neighborhood near 68-th and congress, and saw the aftermath. mr 'it was bad, terrible you know, to see a young kid like that shot.' milwaukee police tell us the victim is an 18-year old man. he died at the scene. rode says the victim was seated inside a vehicle... and the suspect came up and fired multiple times. mr 'went over toward the alley and he came back out a minute later to check to see what investigators believe the shooting was sparked by an argument. the suspect took off again. rode watched from a distance as police pulled the 18-year olds body out of the car, wondering... mr 'i didnt go down there. im afraid.' ..what could have possibly sparked such a vicious act. mr 'i dont understand where they are coming from, you know? its a shame they have to kill each other.' milwaukee police say they have no suspect in custody... and

on-going. reporting live at mpd d7, bl, fox6 news. a major drug bust in dodge county.. but it might just be the tip of the iceberg. bail is set at 250-thousand dollars for this beaver dam woman -- accused of dealing drugs, throughout the city. lacresha l-a lightfoot faces 16 counts -- including manufacturing and/or delivering heroin, and cocaine.the 27-year-old is said to have orchestrated a large-scale operation.. its been a long, le dealer that we wanted to make sure we had a good, solid case ... that it wasnt gonna be something that goes in front of the courts, and, at the end of the day, she gets a slap on the wrist, and put back out, on the street, to do exactly what shes been doing. the sheriff says there are multiple accomplices, who are also under investigation. if you know anything that could help investigators - contact the dodge county sheriffs office. vulgar...offensive and tasteless--- thats what m-p-s

published in a local culture magazine. and the person behind it? a local bar owner. our angelica sanchez spoke with him tonight. this is an ad for sabbatic bar at walkers point. it reads 'sabbatic is for lovers' and in bold print: 'our back alley: where 50% of bradley tech pregnancies start and end'. bar owner jay stamates is no stranger to controversy but the flood of angry calls and texts. it turns out a lot of people whove never come to my bar never been to my bar really are upset with me! for safety reasons he did not want to show his face on camera. he says his bar has been a victim of numerous crimes and he believes those responsible are students that attend bradley tech high school ...which is just a block away. this is the alley where he says break-ins have occurred at his bar and the neighboring restaurant. fox6 reached out to milwaukee police

incidents they never found a connection to bradley tech high school students. --still stamates insists its students who are responsible for the crime and mps officials havent done enough to address the alleged problem. milwaukee municipal judges are giving people with non-criminal related warrants and drivers license suspensions a second chance. it's "warrant withdrawal wednesday." fox6's madeline anderson explains the response was overwhelming. as the hours pass by... those in line inch one step closer to clearing their names. weve been here since 8:30 this morning. yep. and its worth it. im waiting. they're waiting outside the

drivers licenses suspended or they have outstanding warrants for not paying off traffic tickets. i got about 10-15 from driving while suspended, from my kids not having a seatbelt or i didnt have a seatbelt. luckily for kiandria harris and the 800 others... the municipal judges are lifting all municipal warrants and reinstating drivers licenses for free for anyone who appears before them... plus... offering payment plans for the fines. every 90 days i gotta come back down part of a warrant forgiveness program held on the first three wednesdays of november. the goal is to ease the emotional and financial stress that comes with owing the city money or not being able to drive. if they run your name and you got a old citation that turned into a warrant, youre liable to go to jail and lose your job. as harris leaves the courtroom with her license now valid again... she feels like she's been given a second chance. i am grateful. this is awesome. i think its a blessing. the turnout was so

program short after reaching capacity inside the building late this afternoon. reporting in downtown milwaukee... madeline anderson fox6 news. a pleasant prairie man is bound over for trial on sexual assault charges... 73-year-old clarence mielke is accused of sexually assaulting a 50-year-old woman at an assisted living facility. she suffers from huntington's disease. mielke -- who was working at the facility at the time -- is a former captain with the kenosha the facility has since been shut down -- fined -- and ordered to relocate its residents. the former milwaukee county employee convicted of taking bribes -- will now lose his pension. the pension board unanimously voted to terminate "dennis dietschers" pension benefits and recoup payments that have been made. the 54-year- old is serving a 42 months sentence after pleading guilty to felonious misconduct. he received cash, meals, gifts,

ten... construction of the westin hotel in milwaukee hits a milestone... a topping off ceremony was held this morning -- as the final beam was put in place. construction on the new 9-story hotel began in february... it's located on michigan and van buren. the westin will be the closest hotel in the city to the lakefront. once complete -- it's meant to cater to international travelers... it's expected to open in june. wauwatosa will soon reopen as jose's blue sombrero. the conversion comes on the heels of the company's decision last year to sell its racine chancery restaurant -- and close the milwaukee location. the renovation will take 5 months. for more business news - go to fox 6 now dot com for a link to the business journal.
