ben handelman is live in manitowoc county tonight with reaction from dassey's hometown... ... but let's start with myra sanchick -- with what this ruling means. judicial orders. appeals. new rulings. today it all boiled down to brendan dassey staying behind bars. after serving 11 years of a life sentence for the 2005 rape and murder of teresa halbach-- along with his uncle steven avery-- a federal judge overturned dassey's conviction in august.. saying investigators coerced a confession from dassey. dassey be freed this week.. while the state appeals the earlier ruling. dassey's family, including steven avery was excited. avery asked this letter be shared, thanking his supporters and talking optimistically about his own freedom. he writes "when i get out it i want to see all my supports and all the beautiful women and i only want to be happy"... according to tmz, these are
county home. then state attorney general brad schimmel filed an emergency motion, arguing that setting dassey free would jeopardize the state's appeal.... and public safety. the seventh district court of appeals made a short ruling: the emergency motion to stay brendan dassey's release was granted. dassey's cousin tweeted: "this is just bs and words can't express what we are feeling." dassey's brother tweeted thanks for you feel mighty and proud of yourself. good buddy. dassey's legal team hasn't commented on the case today. avery's lawyer kathleen zellner just tweeted, never easy. news of the decision spread quickly through manitowoc county today. it's the talk of the town in mishicot --- the hometown of dassey and steven avery. that's where we find our ben handelman tonight.... good evening. the avery property
and his uncle stephen avery lived. this is a small town, where it was not hard to find people with connection to the two men. but it was hard to find people who knew of the latest ruling. this has been a confusing week with competing rulings from judges on dassey's fate. that confusion is pretty evident here in mishicot. not everyone wants to talk about this. sent out a message to employees banning them from sharing opinions with the media. but by and large--- it is the talk of the town-- and many we talked to are disappointed. many here told us while they feel dassey should be free---

"she's very depressed. she's distraught. i've never seen anybody break down that emotionally as she went through the story." the medical examiner has not ruled whether or not the baby was alive or a stillborn at the time of birth. shes suing for 8-point-5 million dollars. we are awaiting a statement from the sheriffs office. new developments -- in the search for a west allis shooting suspect. showing the suspect outside the store. he's described as a man in his late teens, or early 20s. police say -- yesterday -- he shot a customer during an armed robbery at a cricket wireless store. it happened at the location on highway-100 near cleveland. we're told the victim's injuries are not life threatening. if you recognize the suspect- - you're asked to call police. new at six. water concerns at

waive your fees. last month, we met marie when she first found her car on the north side. marie was mad because it took milwaukee police 40 minutes to respond. im not gonna rest until somebody explains that to me. the police log shows marie called m-p-d at 9:20 am on october 22nd. she said her car was already used to steal someone else's vehicle in brown deer. called it in and the police never responded so now my vehicle, that stolen vehicle i was sitting by, got up and moved. about five minutes later, police saw the car but canceled the pursuit as the thieves drove recklessly. m-p-d tells us the district captain is still working with marie to figure out what happened that

break a big, new visitor at mitchell international airport arrived today. the "airbus 380" landed around 12-30 this afternoon. airbus-380 will fly in and out of mitchell for the next two weeks... as crews conduct icing tests on a new jet engine. with gun deer hunting season kicking off this weekend in wisconsin... a menomonee falls man has a warning for both hunters and non-hunters. he says it's because of a scary encounter with a hunter while walking his dog on public land. the man was hiking sunday along the menominee park trails... when he

"so they can have something to eat, so they wont be hungry or begging people for money on the streets" this is the annual walk for hope... "its a community, its a neighborhood coming together to support our neighbors. there is a high need right now in our neighborhood, 53205 and 53206 zip codes" the whole school held a food drive...collecting canned goods and understand based on their own experiences that families can be hungry and not have the food they need to provide for a full family" thursday...the students walked the items across the street...to feeding america. they work with more than 200 organizations to coordinate the distribution to families in need. "in milwaukee 1 in 4 households where children are
typically collects about 800 lbs of food through the walk for hope which is approximately 650 meals" the walk for hope...is part of feeding americas 'food for the holidays' campaign. the goal is to raise enough food and funds to provide one million meals this winter.
