first adam caskey. >> we could have a few thundershowers this afternoon and evening, but not everyone will see it. we have thundershowers that happened yesterday. temperatures right now near 70 around the beltway, 71 at reagan national, 70 in manassas, 66 in martinsburg. 66 in hagerstown and cumberland is 63. when you factor in the humidity, it will feel like the mid 90's. of use thundershowers possible later on today. there's a look ahead. widespread showers and thunderstorms likely tomorrow on tuesday afternoon and evening still near 90 degrees and humid. a few sprinkles still on wednesday. you will notice a big change wednesday and thursday, less humid. now to steve.

>> thanks so much. the storm made landfall in northeast florida last night bringing heavy wind, rain, and strong wind. >> they believe it will cause coastal flooding in the parts of the southeastern u.s. coast. tahman bradley has more. >> for residents along the southeast coast, a tropical storm beryl crashed the memorial day party. the storm made landfall overnight in northeastern florida packing 70 mile per hour winds, just short of a hurricane. meteorologist expect the weather system will keep dumping rain in florida and georgia throughout the day. tens of thousands are without power from savannah georgiasavannahto daytona beach. a state of emergency in jacksonville. memorial day plans have been scrapped. >> due to public safety concerns, we have cancelled our memorial ceremony at the veterans memorial wall. the storm has the ability to produce localized flooding, down

trees, and downed power lines that can pose a threat to public safety. >> residents along the path from south of charleston to daytona beach were expecting to see a storm surge of up to 3 feet up to 6 inches of rain with wind gusts 65 miles an hour. >> the waves and the winds are picking up. >> there's also the issue of recurrence -- of rip currents. they're causing ms, forcing at least 100 rescues along the coast and emptying out beaches over the busy holiday weekend. >> i am encouraging everyone to stay out of the water. that is important. >> upper level west winds will push it back to see likely by tomorrow night. but that may been too late to save the outdoor plants for so many this holiday. >> stay with abc 7 news and

wjla.com for the latest on the storm. >> we want to check on the roads. >> and al steve hershorn >> . good morning. let's look at this map. a tree came down on river road in montgomery county in the somerset road. it is closed both ways mirror goldsboro near springfield drive --- near goldsboro. the inbound and outbound lanes of river road are still closed right now. we will head over to 270 near father hurley boulevard, not many scars on wet pavement. that's good news. it's a good ride all the way down to the lane divide. over to springfield, no problems southbound on 95.

coming together as part of an event called the good grief camp, organized by the tragedy assistance program for survivors. the program started in 1994. it brings families bringswho share a common laws. adults usually attend brief ce -- seminars while their children get to attend camp. >> i brought my kids because i wanted them to know there's a place they can go to where they feel normal. >> families will take part in a wreath laying ceremony today at arlington national cemetery. it will be presented at the tomb of the unknown on behalf of all the children at the camp. >> a developing story from herndon. for the second time in a month, several farm animals were stabbed with a sharp object. they were found at frying pan farm park. >> i like all the animals.

>> time to a check on traffic and weather on this monday morning. >> adam caskey. there was a pop-up thunderstorm last night. >> it came in from pennsylvania and pushed through the metro area. it lost a lot of punch as it moved into town, especially downtown on the national mall. but it produced over an inch of rain northwest of washington. it is 75 in reston, 71 in aldie. around 70 degrees for the most part. 67 in suitland. fort washington, 66. we will be partly cloudy today near 94 the high temperature. -- 90 for the high temperature. it will feel like the mid 90's when you factor in the humidity. a lot of us will be outdoors, but it will be hot and humid. slight chance of a later date
