driver is fighting for his life. >> i immediately docked to the ground the second i heard it go off. leon: a neighborhood alert after bullets go flying early sunday morning in falls church. the police say the bullets hit several cars and even a number of homes in the neighborhood. tom roussey spoke with neighbors who live there. tom, what have you heard? tom:

people could have been hurt by this. this is one of the vehicles that got shot. , the owner, several hours ago. his neighbor was also affected. this car was parked on the street. near the wheel well, it was hit as well. other cars also struck. this family just got this car in december, but now when they open the trunk -- they hear the sound of a bullet rattling around. the car was shot twice early sunday morning. >> it's honestly terrifying. why my car? tom: it was not the only car hit. >> went out through their. said he was adams in his backyard early sunday morning when he heard a popping down the street. >> first thing i thought was a

adult in the vehicle on northbound beach drive, not far from connecticut avenue. a number of good samaritans collectively pushed the tree so the car could move just enough so that firefighters could extricate and rescue the driver. >> the officer who was here first said 30 people at least helped him lift the tree and push the car backwards from under the tree. they were then able to extricate the man who was stuck inside. he was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries right now. jay: that man's name has not been released. beach drive is now back open. jay korff, abc 7 news. leon: thank you, jay. new information about a 911 outage affecting service in the district for several hours saturday night. we now know that an gi
