investigating a deadly shooting in northeast d.c. a man was shot around 12:30 this morning along 14th street.. just south of rhode island avenue. he was pronounced dead at the scene. so far.. no arrests. this is the same neighborhood where a homicide occured monday night.. and a serious double shooting happened tuesday night. meanwhile, d.c. police are searching for suspects in a double shooting. around 2:30 yesterday afternoon, police were called to 16th street southeast, near "t" street. they found a teen with a gunshot wound. he was taken to a hospital, where he

overnight.. a six-car metro train derails in virginia ... this happened just after 9:30 last night at the alexandria rail yard ... not far from the eisenhower avenue station on the yellow line. metro says there were no injuries and no passengers on board at the time... service was not effected. investigators are now working to find out what caused the train leave the tracks. many people are urging metro to stay open later.. at least when special events take place. jummy olabanji is here with more.

the current midnight closing time often make it hard for them to get home. and that was especially apparent during the bruce springsteen concert last night. as many springsteen fans know, his concerts usually go into overtime. and that makes it tough to decide between staying for the entire concert and catching the metro. 40 local leaders have written to metro's general manager. they're urging him to rethink his proposal to permanently close at midnight mondays through saturdays.. and at 10 p.m. on sundays. it's and xx degrees. coming up next on good morning

investigators trying to figure out what caused a space x rocket to explode in florida. it's a story you first heard on good morning washington during our 9am hour over on newschannel 8. the explosion happened during a fueling operation at cape canaveral thursday morning. the explosion destroyed a 200 million dollar facebook satellite intended to provide internet connectivity to rural africa. the blast was so powerful it could be felt more than a mile away.. fortunately.. no

for sheriff in austin, texas is pledging to end voluntary cooperation with the federal immigration authority. this morning growing backlash for 49ers quarterback colin kaepernick after he once again chose to not stand during the national anthem. but this time he was not the only one joining in on the protest. jummy olabanji standing by with reaction this morning. kaepernick was joined by teamate eric reid. this time it was on military night in san diego. a mixed reaction in the crowd.. some cheered but many fans booed kaepernick including 49ers fans. and before the game, kaepernick ignited a new controversy for these socks depicting police officers as pigs. but earlier this week -- the hashtag veterans for kaepernick went viral as many say they fought for his right to protest.. kaepernick did however stand up and applaud during a rendition of "god bless the usa" -- when military were asked to stand. as for the socks, the san francisco police association

weekend with dry weather and sunshine. today will be absolutely beautiful with low humidity and comfortable temperatures. you'll start to notice high clouds roll in late this afternoon from hermine. hermine will impact us from saturday afternoon through sunday night. saturday will be mostly cloudy, breezy, and cool. showers are most likely along and east of i-95 from saturday afternoon through sunday night. however, the weather is trending drier for the dmv! if you're plans take you to va wine country, the mountains, or wv, you're weekend looks nice and warmer! the heaviest rain and gustiest winds will be along the beaches. the timing of this storm is from saturday morning through sunday night. rainfall totals could reach 2-4 inches by sunday night along the mid-atlantic coast. wind gusts could reach 45 mph from ocean city to rehoboth saturday night. the good news is hermine continues to trend farther east, which means a lesser impact to oure

a suicide bombing leaves at least 7 dead in pakistan. jummy olabanji

the very latest.. jummy.. government officials say the bomber attacked a district court in northwest pakistan. 7 are dead, 40 others injured, some of then in critical condition. police say the attacker threw a grenade and then blew himself up at the main gate. in a seperate attack this morning also in northwest pakistan, four men stormed a christian neighborhood strapped with suicide vests. one person was killed. all four attackers were shot dead. a taliban faction claimed responsibility for the attack on the christian distict. it's and xx degrees. coming up on good morning washington.. no wet weather here so far in the d-m-v.. pretty calm out there..but tropical storm hermine is starting to pound parts of florida.. taking a live look at the conditions down south this is tampa plenty of rain.. and winds are starting to pick up even more. we are tracking the storms every move..another look at the forecast on the next side of the break.
